Private Dog Park by the Creek

Private Dog Park on 1+ Acres near Mt. Scott Creek: We are a private park about ten minutes from Clackamas Town Center. A fully enclosed (1 acre) field and hills with Mt Scott Creek meandering through the lower field (the creek is not fenced at both ends). The creek runs all year; the water level reduces in the summer, but there are locations where dogs can still completely submerge themselves and cool off on hot days. In the winter, the water level rises and turns into rushing torrents after a few days of heavy rain. The entire acreage is pesticide-free, making it safe and ideal for dog owners who enjoy playing hide and seek with their pets. Rainy boots are recommended that one section of the lower field can get wet and muddy in the winter on rainy days, otherwise the majority of the fields, especially the upper fields, are completely dry. Sniffin' Hours: Monday through Sunday: 8 am to 7 pm (Spring & Summer) 8 am to 4:30 pm (Autumn & Winter) Our two 5-year-old Doberman and mastiff mixes will be indoor for the entire duration of your visit. Thank you for Sniffin' at our Spot! Daniel & family

Wooded Wonderland - Run, Swim, Dig!

Welcome to our Wooded Wonderland! Enjoy our private 2-acre unfenced backyard with plenty of room to play, run, and swim. Rock Creek runs through our property, so if your pup loves we to get wet or swim, this is the place to be. This is a family home with folks living in it. Depending on when you book, you’ll most likely see us in the house going about our business; you can see from the photos, the separation between our house and where you and your pup will be playing will give you ample privacy. During the rainy, cold winter months, this SniffSpot can get pretty muddy. Additionally, we don’t rake our leaves as they bring nutrients back into the soil as they break down. So, wear shoes that will keep your feet dry! The stairs and deck are off-limits at this time for everyone's safety. During the summertime, feel free to enjoy the abundance of wild blackberries and plums. If you're lucky, you may spot the bald eagles who nest on our property! Please note that our property is next to a busy road. But there is plenty of space to run and play that does not require you or your pup to be near it.

After 7 weeks of closure, we're re-opening F1 on Monday May 6th! Thanks for your patience and support! If you'd like the wading pool filled before arriving, please text me at 503-481-4327 and I'll have it ready for your pup(s) before you arrive. We'll have dry towels for you to use too before you leave. Proud to be chosen again as Sniffspot's global business model! Read about us in the June 5, 2023 issue of Womens World Magazine! Also in Business Insider's June 9, 2022 articles. STAY COMFY WHILE CHUCKING BALLS FROM PLUSH AND COMFY SEATING ALL AROUND OUR HALF ACRE FIELD. OUR LARGE BEAUTIFUL PATIO AND COVERED AWNING WILL KEEP YOU DRY. OUR PROPANE TABLE WILL HELP KEEP YOU WARM! JUST ASK AHEAD FOR US TO TURN IT ON. We also have an 'Alexa' dot ready to play your favorite songs while you're here! Just say 'Alexa' first, tell her what you like, and she'll play just about anything. You and your pups will love our very artistic boho farm! Water bowl and hot weather only wading pool next to hose provided (please ask ahead for it starting 10/1 and I'll set it out), paved entrance and patio, extra picnic table, chairs and tables, swing, toys, night lighting til 10pm, light up collars/leashes upon request, disc golf basket, clean porta potty access, doggie poop bags hanging all around the field w/disposal cans! There's alot more to the 7 1/2 acre farm that makes it very unique. it's sort of like a rural "Portlandia". We've hosted dozens of weddings, parties, concerts, and reunions here in the past. So, just ask if you'd also be interested in using the farm for your own special event! We've had tons of doggie play date and birthday parties here. Just inquire first letting me know how many cars there'd be. Hope to see you and your pups playing out here soon! We try very hard to remain the #1 spot between both parks, globally. Thank you for helping us achieve that by continuing to support us!!

55Oh my gosh, this place is Heaven on Earth. John & Stephanie are two of the nicest people I've ever come across and their farm is magical. They were nice enough to keep their dogs in the house for our arrival and departure and, even though we could hear the dogs in the house, Cooper was totally relaxed. Directions are straightforward and there is a Sniffspot sign on the gate so the property is super easy to find. John came out to meet us when we got there, told us where to park and Stephanie came out to say hello...then John took us through the gate to the Sniffspot. My usually reactive boy, Cooper, strolled happily through the pasture past a goat, a bunch of chickens, bunnies and 2 massive steer, all just within feet of us...he was completely unphased by all of it, not even one bark! The animals are all so sweet and happy and all throughout the farm there is such a peaceful energy...Cooper was immediately relaxed. As soon as we got to the other side, I let Cooper off his leash and he went crazy, romping, sniffing and running while John walked us around, giving me the lay of the land. He was so welcoming and spent lots of time showing us all the trails and some of the cool sights. We were so busy chatting that I forgot to pay attention so walked back down toward the pasture with him to make sure I knew how to get back. Turns out it's super easy and pretty near impossible to get lost. Once we were by ourselves, Cooper and I just hiked all over, explored all the trails and Cooper had loads of fun splashing around in the creek. Mostly shallow water but we found a couple spots deep enough for him to swim briefly. He was a dirty, wet boy by the time we left...and soooooo happy. We were there for 2 hours and I think it was the perfect amount of time. On a sunnier day, with a picnic, we'd probably make it 3 hours. Really, really lovely place and we are definitely going to be back soon. ❤

55We enjoyed this SniffSpot so much! Behind the farm includes an expansive trail system with many creek crossings, some wide enough for the pup to swim in! It felt as though we were on our own private hike! A ways up the trail is a cabin built by the the host, a perfect place to sit on the deck and cool off. The host was wonderful explaining the layout to us. Do note- there is more than one entrance to the forested trail area. The SniffSpot directions take you to the main gate/house. We were greeted with the host dogs running toward the fence, which got my dog (still in the car) overly excited. The host was very responsive to my concern and placed his dogs inside. We crossed through the pasture with the cows, chickens, and goats without problem. However! If you have a sensitive dog to dogs/livestock *please* let the host know prior to entry! It is possible to meet at the other entrance to the trail system and avoid crossing the pasture with animals. The host obviously loves animals, is responsive and kind to let us use their space. We will definitely book this again

55WOW! I think this is my favorite spot so far. John and Stephanie are excellent hosts , giving great directions and information about the property. They have some beautiful farm animals that we had to walk thru but John walked us thru and we kept the pups on the leash, it was fine. In fact our dogs weren’t reactive with John at all as we walked with him. Go figure... It is so beautiful with great well marked trails and a creek running thru it for the pups to play in and chairs set up for you to just take it all in. Up on the top trails is a cabin being built with a great deck to relax on. Next time we will bring a picnic and do 2 hours! We hated leaving. Upon leaving John gave us some fresh vegetables from their garden and fresh applesauce Stephanie had just made. We will definitely be back! Highly recommend.

55What a gorgeous place to let your dog run and play!!! This property offers a beautiful running river, areas where you can toss a ball as well as hiking trails that gradually incline up hill. Within the trails of the property is a cabin where you can relax in the chairs and enjoy the scenary. There are also chairs along the river to sit while your dog enjoys the water. The owner John walks you through the area where the farm animals are grazing into a gated area where you can then let your dog off-leash. John was gracious, hospitible and kind offering to allow us to stay longer if we would like because I had inadvertently mapped the wrong address and arrived a bit later than our start time. He also offered delicious vegetables from his beautiful garden!! I would highly recommend this place for your dog! Our dog was sooooo happy to run around freely but especially loved the river!

55This is our 2nd visit and we had so much fun! Hosts John & Stephanie are so welcoming and the farm is beautiful. I'm really surprised how completely relaxed my reactive boy Cooper is walking through all of the animals in the pasture. I worried about it quite a lot but both times he didn't bat an eyelash. This time the chickens and bunnies were running all over and the steer was laying down maybe just 4 or 5 feet from the gate to the Sniffspot. No problems at all, Cooper just strolled past all the critters and the giant steer, happy as can be. Just as our first visit, we again booked 2 hours and I find this is a great amount of time for us. I was surprised to find there are a lot more trails than I realized the first time we were here and some are fairly steep with beautiful moss covered logs bordering the pathways. Super pretty and secluded. We hiked all about, regularly running back to the beginning so Cooper could splash about in the creek. This is such a peaceful place and very calming, a great place to unwind and for your pup to explore. As weather permits, this is definitely going to be one of our regular spots and we can't wait to be back.

55This is our 3rd time here. We are head over heels in love with Spring Acres. I'm not sure how, but every visit is better than the one before. You couldn't ask for more welcoming, kind hosts as John & Stephanie...they are such good people. And I just can't get over how Cooper strolls through all the animals in the pasture....it's bizarre to see my reactive dog so completely at peace...I just love it, makes me so happy. 😊 This time it was rainy and we had the best time hiking around and discovering new trails. Cooper loves splashing around in the creek, racing around like a nut and rolling around in the grass and I love the fresh air and peace & quiet. It's nice roaming around without the worry of encountering other dogs and I am totally relaxed here. Super awesome amazing Sniffspot! Can't wait to be back!

55This place is the best! It has some trails for running, water for splashing, an grassy area for fetch, some wooden bridges and best of all a cabin to hide on the deck if it rains. Riley ran around like a lunatic and Buddy was able to sniff until his heart was content. There is something for everyone! The hosts are super nice and generous and great communicators. There are some very calm farm animals - cows, goats, chicken, bunnies and a peacock to be aware that you will need to pass. They won't bother you though.

55This spot was awesome for us! Sign out front, good parking. Owners are great and show you around the property upon arrival. There are other farm animals at the property, most ignore you completely, goats are curious but very friendly. Once your pup is allowed off leash they cannot access the farm animals. Trails to follow are well marked, a lot of small loops to follow!! Covered area to sit if you want. This is a big piece of property! So much exploring. This time of year it was muddy so bring boots and a towel for the pup if you really want to explore the whole property. There are also 2 areas that are rather flat for ball throwing etc if that is more your thing! We will definitely be back, if you and your pup like to explore through the trees this is a great spot!!

55We just love it here. We always book 2 hours and that seems to be just enough time for us. If we ever decide to invite a third, I would probably book 3 hours and bring a picnic. There is a creek, trails and plenty of open space for Cooper to romp and explore. The best part of Spring Acre's is John & Stephanie. They are such a kind, welcoming couple and I always feel so comfortable. ♥ I also get a huge kick out of watching my normally reactive boy stroll past all the animals in the pasture...goats, chickens, giant steer and he just trots happily through the pasture, it's hilarious. There is such tranquility here and I love seeing my boy so at peace. Just before this visit there had been days of heavy rain so the creek was really running....John warned me it could be a bit strong in parts so I kept Cooper closer to shore and he had the best time splashing around then running around the trails & rolling around in the grass. He was one very happy, very dirty boy by the time we got back to the car for the ride home. It started raining just before we left and Stephanie ran out with a towel to try to dry Cooper off, it was super sweet. Great time. This will definitely be one of our regular hangouts. ☺

55Lovely hosts and interesting farm animals to see. Easy to find and easy to park. The private woods park is a network of connecting woods trails, mostly on a gentle slope. There are a couple of clearings as well as little and big streams. Not fully fenced, so you will want a decent recall, but no other people or dogs around and far from the road. Normal inherent natural woods hazards (uneven ground, etc) for dogs who go off trail and some of the many wooden bridges could be a little slippery for running dogs. We had a wonderful romp and look forward to returning and exploring the park in different seasons. Great opportunity for the dogs to play in a natural wooded area without worries about encounters with other people or dogs.

55One of our happy places! Wonderful hosts and we love the farm animals too. The dogs are in heaven there. Hosts will shepherd you through the animals, but not ideal for dogs with high prey drive towards chickens, goats, cattle. Also should have a reasonably good recall or dogs who stay nearby to you- located in a rural area with lightly trafficked roads, but not fully fenced.

55Decided to give this a try since walking on a leash is not my dogs face, and they’re high energy- got the idea from a comment on a local FB community page- and this location overdelivered. Flat space to play frisbee/ball and lots of little trails and low areas for the dogs to explore. The creeks were a huge source of fun. Spent 2 hours here, brought a lunch and it flew by. Chairs and a cabin to sit at too. Great place to social distance and exercise w your dogs!

55Our golden retriever (and my teenage boys) absolutely loved this property. Maisy loved wandering the trails, rolling in the grass, and swimming in the creek. She did not mind the farm animals in the pastures at all, and we felt very safe with her off leash once we crossed their pasture. We loved it and the hosts were very friendly. Thank you so much!

55I kinda don’t want to say how awesome John and Stephanie’s acreage is so it doesn’t become overrun with happy doggies.  It is a beautiful place with lots of farm animals and enough nature to occupy any pup or young kids for a few hours.  I took my two young kids (5 and 8) with our young energetic lab, Charlie.  We explored trails and the kids waded into the stream.  Charlie was in heaven!  He jumped and swam and attempted to play with a few of the goats.  I let Charlie off leash after John walked us through the pasture and past a gate so he could be separated from the farm animals.  I kept Charlie on the leash when we were back in the general farm area as there were chickens, bunnies and goats.  Can’t wait to return!

55We had an amazing experience here! It was serene, beautiful, and really fun! We had a blast exploring the trails, letting our dog play in the creek, and chase the ball.  We enjoyed being outside on this beautiful property and there was tons of room for our dog to sprint around. She had so much fun! John, the host, was so welcoming and showed us around when we arrived. We got to see all of the amazing animals on the property too. We booked two hours and I would recommend booking at least that because there’s so much to see. We hope to visit this spot again and would highly recommend!

55Oh my gosh, dog heaven. Beautiful little farm with acres of forest behind it. John, the owner, was super nice. He met us and walked us through the pasture (my dogs did not react to the cattle or chickens), and up the hill. Lots of trails and little creeks. The paths are clear and maintained. There are several off shoot trails to explore and bridges across creeks. The dogs loved it. They ran and explored and had the best time. Can't wait to return.

55Such a beautiful location with a wonderfully gracious host. I was delighted (!!) by the other animals we walked by to enter a fenced-off area that then expanded to well-kept trails, running creeks, and fresh green natural forest growth all around. Wait until you get there, there are more moments of wonder and delight that will you want to stay longer.

55Seriously the nicest hosts ever. This was our second time back and my dogs and 3.5 year old son had another fun filled adventure! There’s so much to explore and it feels like a little vacation. Definitely wear your boots and get ready to play in the mud - it’s pretty avoidable and definitely not all over the property but it’s just more fun to get a little dirty with the pups! We packed a light lunch and sat in the grass after exploring the trails and then romped in the creek before heading home. Can’t wait to go back again!

FAQ about our Kalama dog water parks

Are dog water parks safe?
While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks are much safer than public dog parks. With Sniffspot all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). All Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by guests so you can find the perfect place for you and your dog. 93% of reviews on Sniffspot visits are 5 stars.
If you are worried about whether you can have an enjoyable water experience, just know that it is possible to have peace of mind when visiting dog waterparks by following basic safety guidelines. Some great ways to stay safe around water with your dog include learning canine CPR and keep an eye on your dog at all times to ensure they are not distressed. You can learn more about safety around water here.
How can I find the best dog water parks in Kalama?
There are 21 dog water parks in the Kalama area. The most popular dog water park is Sauvie Island, Riverfront, Field, 40 Acres, swing on River. You can browse all of our dog water parks here.
How do I know if a dog water park works for my dog?
Start by applying basic filters, such as fencing and distractions, to find a dog park that works for your dog. If your dog doesn't have good recall, you can visit one of our fully fenced dog water parks. If your dog is reactive to other dogs, you can visit one of our dog water parks where there are no dogs audible or visible nearby. Make sure to review the amenities of the spot to see what kind of water features are offered to make sure it works for your dog. If your dog is not a strong swimmer, then perhaps choose a dog water park with tamer water features rather than a river or beach, for instance. We also recommend reading reviews and reaching out to the host with any questions, and of course, checking water park hours.
What are the requirements to bring my dog to a Sniffspot water park?
We require that all dogs have basic vaccinations or equivalent titers. We do not allow dogs with a bite history. We require that guests sign our waiver and agree to follow our safety rules. Additionally, we recommend following our water safety guidelines.
Will there be other dogs at the Sniffspot water park at the same time as me?
Sniffspot only allows one booking at a time and any host dogs are required to be kept away from the spot during visits. We also enforce 30 min time buffers between bookings.
How much do Sniffspot dog water parks cost?
Dog water parks in the Kalama area range from $15.0 and $15.0. The least expensive dog water park is Sauvie Island, Riverfront, Field, 40 Acres, swing on River. The most expensive dog water park is Sauvie Island, Riverfront, Field, 40 Acres, swing on River. Each host sets their own price, so you can check the price on the specific Sniffspot dog park listing.
Can I have an event or party at a dog water park?
If you are planning an amazing dog water park party, each Sniffspot water park has their own rules regarding special events. Many water parks allow doggie birthday parties, training and other event types. Event organizers need to be responsible for their guests and event organizers should coordinate with the host regarding their fun party.
What are the coolest doggie water features available?
Sniffspot dog water parks can have a variety of features, everything from swimming pools to rivers to beaches to hoses and kiddie pools. If you are dreaming of a curtain of water, water tunnels, a ball pit pool, water slide ball pits, splash pools or other cool features, you can definitely find amazing features at Sniffspot dog water parks. Each water park is different, so check the details of the park to find the incredible dog water park of your dreams.
