55We and the doggies had another wonderful visit to Spring Acres Farm! Arrived with three pooches in serious need of fun and exploring, and left an hour later with contented, waggy, tongue-lolling pups! They raced around the pasture, charged along the forest trails and splashed in the creek! Happy, happy dogs and relieved parents! Thank you, Spring Acres!Barbara T.

55I just love this place. It is so well maintained and all the trails are such an adventure for the dogs as well as us. It was so wonderful to get back this year, and as always great hosts! It was even better this year...we discovered a couple new trails. Very tranquil in places, little creeks here and there, plenty of places to park your hiney if you want and there are a couple really open spaces for play time with your dogs as well. Its JUST BEAUTIFUL here. I may book it just for myself just to go and sit and have some me time.😉😉😉. Linda G.

55John and Stephanie's farm offers peace and serenity far from the hustle and bustle of the city. I came to Seattle to visit my sick grandfather and needed a place to unwind with my reactive rescue dog Georgie. John was very kind and patient. Georgie barked at John the whole time we walked across the field to the enclosed Sniffspot but he remained calm which allowed her to slightly lower her guard. You can tell that he's had lots of experience with dogs and it was reassuring. Everything on the farm and trails have been placed and carefully thought out with love and intention. Georgie had a great time sniff and running through the stream. We both really need a safe spot to enjoy together and were very grateful for the experience. John had extended the offer to let my family come back with the dogs but due to the tight schedule we couldn't make it out there together. I would have loved to come back and explore. I wish we lived in Washington. I recommended this location to my cousin so I hope she'll be able to bring her dog to explore. Michele C.

55This is my absolute favorite sniffspot. Not only was the property like a little piece of heaven for humans and dogs alike, John the host was wonderful and oh so welcoming!
Our German Shepherd puppy and 10 year old Schnoodle explored this spot with absolute delight - heavily wooded trails, an exciting river, lots of gurgling streams, many quaint little bridges, whimsically named paths. So much care has been taken with this place, it is breathtaking. Such adventures to be had for the pups and such restoration for the soul. John showed us all the important parts and got us started on the right track. I didn’t expect it to live up to rhe hour plus trip there but it surpassed my expectations! We will be back. Thank you! 55This place is a pure delight to all senses : serene , mostly shady , with a cozy beach area by the shallow creek . Gracious hosts , John & Stephanie , put a lot of thoughts & craftsmanship into the land to create this charming oasis for pets and their owners enjoyment.
Location and parking are well marked & secure , area is adequately fenced with clear paths throughout , numerous benches & chairs to rest ; bio degradable waste bags & smart disposal are thoughtfully provided .
We were looking for a safe & fun place for our rumbustious dog to roam through , and found a tranquil retreat for ourselves. Owners are doing an outstanding job to create a welcoming environment. Mila V.

55wonderful spot. very warm and inviting host.
the sniff was clean and so well taken care of. Felt wonderful to let our dogs loose to explore in a safe place away from reactive off leash dogs. it was very freeing. we have a deaf dog who is also partially blind. she gets nervous around strange dogs. so for her to explore safely with our dogs was wonderful. 55This is officially our favorite SniffSpot! I'd give it 11 stars if I could. There are many trails to explore and lots to do. We especially loved playing in the creek. My dog isn't much of a swimmer but he swam a lot and loved being in the water. The only downside is that they're not closer to home. Thank you for allowing us on your property and being a great host. We can't wait to come back!Danina G.

55A perfect get away for my malamute. Lots of trails and sitting spots. The hosts were awesome and greeted us right away. It’s rural but there is a sign at the road so you know you’re in the right spot. Highly recommend!Susan G.

55John and Stephanie provided us with a warm welcome and showed us their property with open arms. John walked us through this beautiful property and guided us to the various trails and bridges that were clearly marked in the property. We were also introduced to the goats, chickens, rabbits and cows. :) The biodegradable poop bags and a place to dispose them was a bonus which we really appreciated. The details on the property and the care that has been given (including the cabin that is under construction) was exceptional. Playing in the creek after the muddy hike was a great way to get our pooch tired and cleaned up ! We will be sure to return again! Thank you !Lavanya M.

55A little of everything for dogs to enjoy. The trails with wooden signs and benches was a fun touch. Izzy had fun trying each one, but her favorite attraction was the stream and small river. My only suggestion might be to put a fenced path thru the first barn yard with the animals rather than just have dogs on a leash. Izzy just wanted to meet and play with the goats, rabbits and chickens but a reactive strong dog would be too hard to hold back. Next time I will either bring my slip leash or park in top so I don't have to walk her thru the animals. 🤔Heather H.

FAQ about our Federal Way dog hiking trails
Are dog hiking trails safe?
While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, inattentive owners, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks are much safer than a city or county park. With a Sniffspot off-leash area all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). All Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by guests so you can find the perfect place for you and your dog. 93% of reviews on Sniffspot visits are 5 stars. Our hiking trails tend to be outside the city, which lends to more privacy, but it is also important to follow typical hiking safety precautions, such as potentially having trail maps.

Since you are looking for trails, make sure to check photos to see if it the spot has flat trails or gnarly trails. You can also browse by specific amenities, if you are looking for a view or a beach, for instance, or other activities or fun features. You can check whether the spot has off or on street parking, the regular park hours, whether it has paved trails or a modern restroom.
