55This place is amazing-- such great trails and a creek to play in. Our dogs had a fabulous time. They enjoyed the sniffs so much we ran out of time to get all the way to the top, but enjoyed ourselves none the less. Looking forward to our next visit!Ashley M.

55Early morning visit today and my dogs had a blast of course! It was a little muddy in spots but that's ok! I brought a towel to clean them off before the ride home! Jessica H.

55Such a beautiful place to enjoy with pups!! We had a lovely time, it was a little muddy in some areas, but it’s WA springtime so that is normal! Also the creek/river at the beginning/end of trail cleaned off any mud from my pups! Will definitely be coming back to do the full hike!!Julie H.

55What a fun place to visit. I would recommend wearing shoes/boots with traction as it can be a bit slippery. The creek was a lot of fun for the dogs to splash in. Once we got to the field there was a ton of room to run around and get out their yayas! Definitely a successful afternoon. Heather P.

55Incredible spot! As others mentioned, definitely bring tall hiking boots if it's been raining. Parts of the trail were pretty washed out. The dogs had a blast playing in the river after they got muddy! We will be back! Kelsey K.

55Easy home to get to, well marked parking. We did the hike through public land and I believe that had us skip most of the actual sniffspot land but we enjoyed having a long, private hiking trail all to ourselves! We would definitely do this again! It took us a bit under 3 hours out and back. It’s very steep, so most of that is uphill and the way back was a breeze. Also lots of muddy areas that you can’t bypass so hiking boots are a must. The left entrance to the small path up the mountain, past the power lines, is very difficult to find so keep a lookout. For summertime- half the hike was not shaded.April M.

55GREAT hike! Beautiful trail system and the Sniffspot portion is very well maintained. The kids, our dog, and I had a really wonderful time and the views at the top really are amazing. The hike, for us, took a bit longer round trip…I’d recommend a 3 - 4 hour booking if you want to make it all the way up and also have a minute to relax and enjoy the view. We will be back. ;-)Heidi B.

55We really enjoyed this Sniffspot! Our dog had lots of fun running on the two trails through the forested part of the spot and chasing balls in the clearing under the power lines. We also did the hike up to the state land, which was a great way to extend our visit and get some exercise in. We encountered no people up there. I'd definitely recommend wearing hiking boots, even if you're just planning on using the Sniffspot area, while it's still relatively wet; the trail is very slippery right now! You might also want to bring hiking poles (or grab one of the sticks that the host or perhaps other visitors have helpfully left near the trail). One more thing: if you have a dog that might want to chase cars, keep your dog on leash for the first part of the walk, which is very close to the road. Overall, this was a wonderful Sniffspot, and we can't wait to go back!Sara E.

55Absolutely top tier spot! Like my favorite bits of the ACFL with guaranteed privacy. Came for an hour to explore and will definitely be back for more. Still a fair amount of mud this time of year, but nothing a good pair of boots for you and a towel for dog won’t handle. Bath time! 😊Nick R.

FAQ about our Mount Vernon dog hiking trails
Are dog hiking trails safe?
While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, inattentive owners, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks are much safer than a city or county park. With a Sniffspot off-leash area all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). All Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by guests so you can find the perfect place for you and your dog. 93% of reviews on Sniffspot visits are 5 stars. Our hiking trails tend to be outside the city, which lends to more privacy, but it is also important to follow typical hiking safety precautions, such as potentially having trail maps.
