The rental was as described; no fence around an open field. Although there was nothing wrong with the area, there are a couple things worth mentioning for future visitors. Whatever was cleared from the field left short, rigid "stalks" (for lack of a better word). I could hear them crunching under my shoes. This made it difficult for my chihuahua to maneuver through the area, so I ended up carrying him. Not a huge deal, he's older and likes to keep his figure on the slender side. The younger, bigger dogs ran like they never tasted freedom before. However, their paws were a little irritated afterwards. The alternative would have been to use the Chuck-It up and down the gravel road which would've been worse on their feeties. The boundaries of the area were unmarked, making it difficult to determine where we should stop romping. The aerial photo was helpful but there were no cleared trails through the woods, that I could find, reducing the amount of accessible acreage. The gravel road you park on would lead you to what looked like a white barn. We did not drive that far, but it was close enough that you could see and kind of hear what was going on. I kept my dogs away from that side, but I was able to see a man, a woman with a baby, and some animals. I'm not sure if they were the owners or neighbors because I did not go greet them. If your dog is not able to respond to verbal cues or has sensitive feet, it may not be suitable for them. The rural road/drive that runs alongside the rental was not high traffic, however, there was at least one vehicle that passed by during our visit. Because there is no gate, any dog could potentially run into the road. Also, given the close proximity of white barn with livestock, some dogs may decide to make a detour to investigate.
