Our mission to provide a safe haven for dogs in desperate circumstances within our community and surrounding area. We rehome these dogs with families that are a good fit for the dog. We seek to serve the humans that come to us ‚both our adoptive families and the people who need help rehoming dogs ‚but our priority is to act as advocates for our dogs at every stage of the rescue and adoption process. We commit to our dogs for life! We are a registered non-profit organization, headquartered in the Tri-Cities in south-central Washington State. We focus mainly on saving dogs that are at risk in our region and placing them with adopters throughout the Pacific Northwest. Most of our dogs come from shelters in Washington & Idaho, where they are facing the threat of Euthanasia. Others are released to us by private individuals who need medical help with their own dogs. Other dogs are strays, either dumped or abandoned, that need a chance at a new life.

Resilient hearts is one of the best animal rescues I have had the pleasure of going to, as it is welcoming, inclusive, accessible, and friendly animal rescues (maybe on the entire planet.) the owner is polygamous and a very kind person, who I have had the immense pleasure of getting to know. They make their space as welcoming as possible especially to people of the LGBTQIA+ community and focus on making their space more of a community space instead of a shelter. We are a small rescue, but we let the dogs who are well behaved run out in our space for people to interact with, to socialize our animals and make them more attractive to possible adopters. We typically take from other, overstocked shelters and get them out to the general public to help them get the homes they so desperately need. I have personally loved every minute I have spent here as I feel appreciated and part of this community which was so welcoming to me from the start. I would like to thank you, for your time and consideration of resilient hearts.

Motley Zoo Animal Rescue is the revolution of rescue. As a rock and roll-themed, foster-based, volunteer-powered rescue, we take in animals that have no one else. "Animals" primarily means dogs and cats, but as the name "zoo" implies, we take all kinds (as long as we have a foster home/ resources for that species). We work with shelters and owners who cannot keep their pets and through extensive veterinary care and training, we rehabilitate them and place them in loving, forever homes where the animals will never again be abandoned. More than 30% of the animals we take in are special or medically needy and require more extensive and expensive care. In all we work with all ages, breeds, many species and all different types of humans too- treating each as an individual so they can find the life and love they deserve.

So far we have adopted two cats from here. We have always noticed how well the animals are cared for here. I have also had to drop a stray off here too. Knowing that they'll be taken good care of helps your conscience when you're not in a position to take on another sweet soul. We have and always will come to the Tacoma Humane Society for our pets. We try to show support with donations and contributions. This is truly a place that binds our community. To see how many folks turn out for the different events, but especially the adoption days is awesome! These babies need homes and this place does everything they can to make sure they do! The selflessness and care of the homeless animals is felt every time you go there.

Greyhound Pets Inc. rescues all types of sighthounds and dogs who are perhaps sighthound mixes. Many of the dogs come from extremely difficult situations-Korean dog meat survivors, tribal desert dogs from the Middle East, and of course dogs from American greyhound racing tracks. The care and dedication given to these dogs while in GPI's care is wonderful. The adoption process is also extraordinary. Potential adopters are well vetted, home checks are a must, and the rescue provides a lot of follow-up and continuing adoptee support. These steps all combine to ensure their dogs go to great homes.

John A. Hern Jr. founded Greyhound Pets, Inc. in 1985. John was a Coeur D'Alene, Idaho businessman who built a foundry business and owned Industrial Park real estate. Among John's many and varied interests, he held greyt admiration for ex-racing greyhounds and became committed to their care and welfare. As the greyhound racetrack opened in Coeur D'Alene John started a small side business providing feed and racing equipment to track kennels. He demonstrated his commitment to the dogs by being instrumental in building a track sponsored Greyhound Welfare Committee that reviewed track and kennel policies. John's first greyhounds were Roo and Babe, the two greyhounds featured in the GPI logo. John adopted several greyhounds after Roo and Babe. Ace was one of his favorites and was the subject of many of John's stories. John was the executive director of Greyhound Pets, Inc. for many years and oversaw expansion to include the Pacific Northwest and Southwestern Canada. John's generous bequest to the organization he founded has provided for GPI's continued prominence in the ex-racing greyhound rescue effort. The volunteers who continue in the efforts John began, honor his colorful leadership in finding homes for ex-racers. John is remembered and his love for ex-racing greyhounds honored in the Hern Greyt Works, GPI's kennel facility in Woodinville, WA.

I’ve been following Misspits Rescue a few years now. Melissa is amazing and basically a one woman show! I really respect this lady and the work she does, from driving a tractor, building a Sniffspot to her every day animal care which includes getting babes for hydrotherapy. I’ve had some special need babes and that alone is tiring. I really wish I lived closer to Misspits and I’d be there often volunteering! Misspits Rescue is pretty amazing in my book!

I started Misspits Rescue in 2013 to help advocate for pit bull type dogs. After adopting Dexter, a big, happy, pit bull that almost died simply due to his looks, I knew I had to do something. After years working with a local pit bull rescue and volunteering at a shelter, Misspits Rescue was born. In the last ten years we have grown and moved to larger property. We adding additional breeds over the years and help those that need us the most. Now that we have the space, we offer sanctuary to farmed animals as well. This created a perfect place to help struggling herding breeds as well.

At Path of Hope Rescue we strive to decrease the euthanasia rate of high risk dogs in the southern United States by transporting pregnant dogs and puppies to the Pacific Northwest to find adoptive homes. We are 100% foster based and rely on volunteers and fosters to help in our mission. The overpopulation of dogs in Texas is extreme. Because of a culture that does not value spay and neuter, there are simply too many dogs. And because of this, dogs are being euthanized merely for their existence. Shelters are forced to choose which dog to kill and which to save on a daily basis. There are an estimated 700,000 stray dogs just in the city of Houston alone. Dogs on the streets, dogs in shelters, dogs living on chains, dogs everywhere. Pregnant dogs and puppies are often euthanized because of the amount of resources they require or even more often, pregnant moms are spayed, aborting the puppies. Path of Hope Rescue believes that these dogs deserve a chance at life.

I have volunteered at a number of dog rescues and WAG is by far and away the most compassionate and conscientious organization I have been involved with. The dogs are housed in a lovely quiet (mostly qiiet😜)country setting with many large fenced areas so they can play together and hang out in. There are actually several houses the dogs live in (according to their size) that are custom built. Big dogs stay in one large house and they have their own sleeping rooms that surround a main living area, The living room allows them to get the feeling of what it is like to live in a home complete with couches, chairs, TV and a kitchen. The pups are fed high quality food, with attention to each dog’s dietary needs plus supplements. They get regular vet checks, and any necessary medication. They are walked and played with regularly and receive training so they understand basic commands and how to walk nicely on a leash. Most importantly, they are loved and doted on every day by the highly trained staff and volunteers. I am proud to be a part of this unique and wonderful organization!

My name is Leigha. A little background into my story. I lost my dog Stitch in Sept 2022. In November of 2023 I was hiking and decided that I was ready to find my next adventure buddy. I started out with the quizzes what dog breeds right for me. II got on pet finder and started looking. At first just reading the bios exploring what breeds were out their and learning their needs in January I found a dog I thought would fit in with my family. I reached out and was denied. The second dog I applied for I was denied because they didn’t think my lifestyle would be conducive to having a dog. By this point I was disheartened and disappointed. I knew if these people would just meet me they would see what an amazing dog Mom I am. I moved to Gig Harbor for work with one of my best friends. While at the grocery store we saw a sign for an adoption event. She said let’s just go check it out. I was hesitant. What if I found a dog and they told me no. However it was in a dog store and I figured I could pick something up for her dog while we were there. I talked to Gloria and Kaitlyn explained how I had been turned down to rescue 2 dogs because I was a single nurse. Gloria encouraged me to fill out a foster application and said she would call for an interview. Flash forward Chew took a chance on me an allowed me to be their first Travel Nurse foster. With in 2 weeks I was getting my first foster Molly. I did all the reaserch, training videos, pinterest boards. I was ready to be the best foster Mom ever. After a few weeks Molly began to settle in to her new life. I told her how I was helping her find her forever family. What I learned over the next 2 weeks was she had already found her forever family with me. Without Chee Dog Rescue taking a chance on me I would not have found my Tiny Adventure Doggo. She has been with me right at 2 months. She is a cuddle bug, who loves her auntie and corgie cousin. She is started in puppy training to learn to be the best good girl ever. Most importantly she is safe and loved by so many. It’s been 2 months and it’s hard to imagine my life without her.

Caring Hearts 4 paws is a rescue in western WA that is specialized in rescuing mothers and their babies from the Yakima valley where spay and neuter programs don't exist and dogs are left to die in harsh and extreme weather conditions on the reservation. Sue gets the dogs (mother and babies) to her rescue where she cares for them until they are old enough to adopt out. Rescue includes spay and neuter in the adoption fee. Sue cares for each of the dogs in her rescue and takes great care to make sure they are adopted into a safe forever home.

    Greyhound Pets, Inc.

John A. Hern Jr. founded Greyhound Pets, Inc.

    Path of Hope Rescue
