A New Leash on Life Pet Rescue and Transport

#88 in United States, #9 in Oregon, #3 in Eugene

Our love for all animals, big and small, runs deep. Our rescue efforts began while healing from the sadness of losing our 13-year-old Golden Retriever, Ruby. The healing began with a phone call from a friend nearly 1,000 miles away: Can you help us? It was that desperate plea that opened our eyes to a problem that isn't going away anytime soon. Pet overpopulation, animal abuse, neglect, and abandonment affect all of us and the communities we live in. Through our transports, we are able to save these animals from being euthanized in high kill shelters by carrying them to the safety of our rescue network. Dog Rescue is all about teamwork. Each life saved represents countless hours of collaboration between volunteers and rescue organizations. Currently, our network spans the I-5 Corridor, from the Mexican to Canadian borders. Here, these various agencies provide the training, medical care, and fostering to help find a happy, healthy, and loving home for the dogs to live in for the rest of their lives. As of April 2024, over 11,800 dogs (and many cats) have been transported. In addition to transport, we work with several pet food suppliers to secure donated food for animals in our community. Donated food, supplies, and treats are distributed to food banks, shelters, rescue agencies, churches, veterans and the homeless. In the sweet spirit of Ruby, we wake up every day with the hope of giving these animals a new leash on life.

Golden Bond Rescue of Oregon. — Sniffspot

Golden Bond Rescue of Oregon.

#98 in United States, #13 in Oregon, #2 in Salem

Golden Bond Rescue is a volunteer run, non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of retrievers. Our mission is to find caring, adoptive homes for retrievers and retriever mixes in need and to educate the public to prevent the homeless retrievers of the future. Retrievers in need of new homes come from a variety of circumstances. Some come to us due to compelling family situations such as death, divorce, family illness, relocation or economic hardship. Others are released to rescue because of behavior problems due to lack of exercise and poor understanding of the needs of the breed. Since our beginnings in 1991, we have successfully placed over 3,500 dogs with new loving families. We would like to remind anyone interested in adopting a retriever that there is no source (including breeders, kennels, humane societies, rescue organizations) for a guaranteed perfect or pre-trained dog. Like many rescue organizations, we offer the benefits of being able to provide dogs who are already spayed or neutered, who have had a sound fundamental health examination, and whose temperament is fairly well known (since they have all lived with our foster families). Some of our dogs have not had a loving family in the past, but many have. Some may have behavioral problems, but many do not. And some need special medical care, just as most any dog will eventually. Many of our dogs need some level of training. All of our dogs need significant amounts of time, attention, patience, and love to adjust to their forever homes. Golden Bond Rescue is a resource for people who would like to give retrievers or retriever mixes a second chance in life. Golden Bond Rescue identifies a "retriever" as any breed that falls under the American Kennel Club's (AKC) retriever classification: golden retriever, Labrador retriever, Chesapeake Bay retriever, curly-coated retriever, flat-coated retriever, and Nova Scotia duck-tolling retriever. For more information about each of these breeds, please use this link RETRIEVERS.

Displaced Pets Rescue

#100 in United States, #15 in Oregon, #8 in Portland

Displaced Pets Rescue, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation dedicated to rescuing Pomeranians and other petite breeds located in NW Oregon and Washington. Our mission is to help Little Dogs, that are under 10 pounds, whether they come from the shelter or from an owner surrender. Loss of income, home, illness, relocation, divorce, re-zoning are all things that happen in people's lives and we provide a safety net to keep these little guys from being turned into a shelter. We work to find these dogs loving new homes, and to provide interim socialization, training and Vet care that they need. We work to educate current owners and to decide the best solution for their situation. Sometimes a frustrating situation can be solved with some caring training and assistance. Where necessary we will take in rescue dogs that will be placed in loving pet homes. Our resources are limited as we are completely self sustained, so the numbers of rescues we can take each year is limited. Dogs come to us from a variety of sources, including local shelter and individuals. We only accept dogs which we believe have the potential, after living in our care, and working with us for some time, to be successfully placed in a new home. We work with each animal to develop the confidence it will need to fit into a new relationship. We work with the dog and new owner to ensure that the new relationship is successful. Prospective adoptive parents are interviewed, and references are checked to ensure that we have choose the best new owner possible. The potential "adoptee" must meet their new family to ensure that they are adequately acquainted in my environment before going to a new home. All of our rescues are spayed or neutered and current on their vaccines. The pricing you will find on these rescues may very depending on the dogs age, health, and the Vet care involved. Our minimum placement fee is $200, for an advanced senior with health concerns. Most will place at $400. Puppies under one year our donation is $500, Many times the placement fee for a dog does not cover their vet bills, let alone food, electricity, water, bedding, cleaning products and all of the other things that these kids need. We are a young organization with a limited donor base and no government funding, we rely on adoption fees and donations to support our mission. The largest consideration is an attempt to recover the funds spent so as to pass them on to the next needy fur-baby. Additional donations are greatly appreciated.

The Humane Society of the Ochocos has come a long way since then and and we have many of you to thank for that! The current shelter was constructed in 1996 as a temporary facility when the local population was just 17,000…it is now over 25,000 which represents a 47% increase! The needs of the County have outgrown the current shelter’s capacity. In 2006, HSO paved the way and became the first animal shelter in Central Oregon to adopt the no kill philosophy. HSO Vision: • Every companion animal in our community will be treated with respect. • Every adoptable animal in our care will be placed in a loving home. • Every lost animal in our care will be reunited with its owner. • Every dog and cat owner in our community will have access to affordable spay and neuter services.

Each dog will leave here crate trained, house broken and know most basic commands. I feel it is very important to know each dog as an individual to assure that when they are adopted their new owners are fully informed of their new companion's pros and cons. Rescue dogs will enrich your lives and show you unconditional love. Greenhill is amazing! We adopted our dog from here in 2021. He was incredibly reactive - so much so that I think many other shelters wouldn’t have even given him a chance. He stayed for a month at Greenhill, while they worked extensively with him to make sure he was ready for a fur-ever home. He is the light of our life - such a wonderful companion, and it’s so much thanks to all the hard work the staff at Greenhill does to train and advocate for the animals in their care. We were also so impressed with their clean, modern, and well-kept facilities - it’s clear they care deeply about what they do, and treat all the animals in their care with such kindness and compassion.

Their main focus of saving dogs from high kill shelters continues to be a driving force and they are almost at 12,000 lives saved! Not to mention they field calls from people in the community who need guidance, whether it be to surrender an animal, report a found animal, or to get help finding a pet to adopt, New Leash does an amazing job giving direction to those in need. They also run a pet Food Bank that works to distribute food far and wide to those who need it the most. All around the people that work to keep New Leash going are wonderful and I am happy to have had the pleasure of learning about them. Keep up the good work guys!!!

A New Leash on Life Pet Rescue and Transport

Saving One Paw At A Time Rescue & Transport

I started out 4 years ago in 2019 as a volunteer driver from a shelter to a rescue. From there I continued volunteering to do that and more for many 501c3 rescues and realized that saving the lives of the dogs and cats were my calling. It became my mission. I started pulling dogs and cats from shelters throughout California and coordinating their transports to their rescues throughout the United States. On Sunday, March 13, 2022 I filed for my 501c3 Non Profit Rescue License in the state of California. I am very excited to continue helping other rescues as well as now starting my own. More lives saved, every second of every minute, of every day, I commit to doing everything in my power to save as many lives as I’m able to and find the best homes for them to feel loved, safe and wanted.

In Support of Street Saavy Dog Rescue: Before I met Telani (my partner), she adopted Koa and Kalea (they had other names at the time) back in Nashville. They were both from a troubled litter of pups. Trauma passed on, very fearful and anxiety prone. Both were deemed unadoptable, having been out of and brought back to shelter multiple times. If it weren't for Telani's big heart, knowledge, and incredible patience, they would quite likely be dead today. Instead, they are content to curl up beside or on me, plus do doggie things like run with tails held high, sniff the air, roll in the dirt, and chase critters! Please help Street Savvy Dog Rescue bring dogs in touch with loving families like ours. Thank you, Franko H. in Maywood Park, OR - Supporter of SSDR and is the enthusiastic assistant to Telani Lasoleille, who is the owner of the Cooperative Canine, LLC and board member of SSDR.

Pawsitively Saved Rescue is where we found our 2 dogs last year. We had adopted a dog from another rescue after having to put out beloved pet down due to cancer. That rescued dog was put up for adoption too soon and had not settled down after being rescued from A puppy mill. She was having trouble bonding and would hide out in closets and other confined spaces. One night she got away from us and we searched for weeks looking for her. We went to PSR looking for a companion (young dog) hoping our rescue would come back. Buddy Boy had been at the rescue for several months and had received some training. The first rescue was found dead just outside our neighbors shed. We were heart broken 💔. Now we needed to find a sibling for Buddy so back to PSR we went. We brought home Rudy and the two have gotten along great! PSR really helped our family get over 2 dog losses and we are forever grateful!

Our mission is to provide a stepping stone to the most at-risk pups via a strong foster based network and training support to our fosters, adopters, and community. While we can't adopt ourselves out of our current crisis, we can provide a pawsitive impact to those pups in our care and bridge the training gap in our community. We are a science based, force free rescue, founded by certified dog trainers, with a mission to educate our community on dog behavior and canine learning. Golden Bond Rescue of Oregon.
