Location

Description

Private property, 1/3 acre, completely fenced, in Port Salerno! A great off-leash experience! Please don't expect a perfectly manicured lawn! Between my dog and visitors, the yard gets USED! Your dog is welcome to dig holes, play with coconuts and just HAVE FUN! The yard is long and wide enough to throw balls and frisbees - please bring your own toys and take them home when you leave. If you would like to meet before your first visit, I am happy to do so. If not, that's fine too - we'll be quiet and out of sight for your private visit. I will provide a water bowl - please bring your own poop bags. Thank you and enjoy! Janie & Wilma

Great spot, and the hostess was so welcoming. My dog loved fetching and tearing up the coconuts.

Perfect as always.. there is a big bowl of ice water for the boys and a welcome note at the gate when you arrive.. makes us feel very welcome. Thank you again

The spot was just ok for me. I did not like the short fence on one side. Unfortunately this one is not a good fit for me.

This was fantastic. The yard is big enough for my two Large dogs to enjoy and run until they were exhausted. The area is easy to find , park and super friendly neighbors. We will definitely be coming back!!

We’re traveling with our two dogs in an RV and one of them is reactive to other dogs so this was a great spot for them to run and stretch their legs and play a game of frisbee. The host even had a bowl of fresh ice water which was appreciated. Fully fenced with lots of places to sniff and explore. We’ll definitely be back!

Our girls had the best time at Janie’s! She has a fully fenced yard, on a large corner lot with plenty of shade and room to run. Janie was the perfect host. She had a full bowl of cold water for the girls and had the mister ready to go. Definitely add the mister to your visit, especially if you have dog who likes water or if you’re visiting during the hotter times of the day. We liked it as much as the dogs did! Thank you so much for having us Janie. We’ll definitely be back!

Great 1st visit. Officially a SniffSpot Fan. We live in a condo and my boy gets 3 walks a day, but needs time off lead. Janie's place is ideal. I was able to take him at 7am before work! Perfect and we will be back. Fencing is secure. Good trees. Water bowl too.

If I could give a half, I would give 4.5 stars. The location was convenient and quiet. Janie, our host, left a misting machine for the dogs which they loved after running around in the Florida heat. There is a large area behind the home for dogs who love to run (we have boxers) and smaller areas for digging and exploration. The dogs had a great time!

Got a big, energetic dog who needs a lot of space to run? You’ve found it! If your dog is happiest in the water, we are here for you! We are a haven for dogs with Strong Opinions about things! 🤗 Doesn’t love people? Come on over! Hates other pets? That’s cool! Lives to chase and eat squirrels and moles? We’re overrun, you do you! We are blessed with 19 gorgeous acres of ♿️ HANDICAPPED ACCESSIBLE pasture, ancient live oak hammocks, and trails surrounding 3 ponds and a creek leading to a cypress swamp. It’s Old Florida at its very BEST. Canter Woods is on the corner of two dead-end dirt roads with barely any traffic. We are partially fenced with new secure fencing being completed right now, and the property is enormous, so only the most adventurous dogs would be inclined to leave the area. The new 4’ foot fence is slated to be completed by the end of March. Seating and picnic tables are provided throughout the property, and there is plenty of natural shade. We have a private road that runs all around the inside of the fence, so if your dog likes to run alongside you while you pedal, go ahead and bring your bicycle! The road/trail is almost completely shaded, so even on the hottest of days, it’s quite pleasant. One of our trails, which fully accommodates any vehicle, leads directly to our main seating area adjacent to not one but two ponds. Guests who use a wheelchair, crutches, or a walker can make it from their vehicle to a sturdy chair or lounger in just 6-8 feet ♿️ If you would like access to this parking spot, simply arrange with us. We have 2 especially friendly dogs who play well with others (if your dog would like some company), and they enjoy having friends over to splash in one of our shallow swimming ponds that are fed nonstop by a deep artesian well. We also have plenty of wildlife—depending on how rambunctious your dog might be, you may see otters, soft shelled turtles, tortoises, wood ducks, raccoons, armadillos, rabbits, and squirrels. We also have a plentiful supply of water birds—herons, egrets, and more. We are a Certified Wildlife Habitat™️! 🍃🌱🌿🪵🐇 We have horses on the premises in paddocks, and they’re tolerant of dogs and their mischief and love ♥️ our SniffSpot dog guests. Hopefully your dog is tolerant of these large mysterious creatures and doesn’t harass them! If you think your dog might be aggressive with the horses and get over or under their sturdy 4-foot paddock fence, please use a leash when in proximity of the barn and paddock! Occasionally there may be a horse and rider, or two horses and riders, in the riding arena. If your dog is troubled by this, please contact me immediately and we’ll ask the rider to bring the horse in. Do note that our horses are ridden and worked often, so there’s always the possibility that you will encounter “evidence” of a horse having passed there before you 😉 As we say around here, that’s farm life for ya! If that kind of thing bothers you, this probably isn’t the right spot for you. We are not manicured lawn—we are a farm and woods and a certified wildlife habitat. Note that we do have some predator animals such as hawks, owls, and the occasional bobcat, so this area is best suited for dogs over 15-20 pounds. We keep our 4-lb chihuahua mostly inside. Parking is near the main entrance gate, close to the barn, and you are invited to start off your visit on the trails, following Bambi’s Run at the #710 entrance. Poop bags and a trash can are located on a pine tree at the parking area and near the horse paddock. WE DO ASK TO MEET YOU AT THE PARKING AREA, the first time you come, so we can show you where things are located. MEMBERS-ONLY HOURS: We reserve before-work 7-9:00 am and all day on Sundays for dog lovers who have chosen to be members. Members also get a lower rate that’s never subject to a price increase + free use of our wash rack and dog shampoo! (a big bonus for the big dogs in our lives!)
