55Nice large field. Was a little unsure if I was at the right spot at first with no sign. I believe they are moving so not really relevant now.
55The dogs had so much fun running around the yard, it was a great day! The yard was large and clean. Amazing not to have to worry about other dogs, just completely enjoyed the privacy of spending time with my dogs able to run freely!
55Parking was convenient and the place was easy to find. Clean area with lots of room for my dog to run around.
55Last night we visited A&M's off-leash park for the first time and loved it. The yard is beautifully maintained and has a fence around most of the property. Although the fence isn't going to stop my dog, the added trees and shrubs that surround the fence/property were enough to keep her contained for lots of fun playtime. The yard is also large enough to deter my pup from wandering off. It was nice to have the place to ourselves and not have to worry about other dogs. There's a fire pit, and they have a bucket of toys if you forget to bring your own. After playing for about 45 minutes, we enjoyed some quiet time on the grass to enjoy the quiet. We will be back again for sure.
55This is the perfect little getaway spot and it’s perfect for smaller dogs! We enjoyed all of the amenities of this beautiful space.
55Beautiful place! partially fenced but worked for my dogs, we spent a very good time!
55Great spot! Lots for the pup to explore and sniff about with very appreciated amenities provided!
55Thanks so much for providing a beautiful place for me and my dog!
55Nice space, our dogs had fun playing in the pond.
55Great spot to take the pup!

Description

UPDATE: We’re moving, so come visit us before the end of October! Come and enjoy our backyard! We’re less than 10 minutes from Sherwood Park (and literally right off of Baseline) but it really has the feel of being out in the country. We’re located in a subdivision of acreages, our property is 3.5 acres (the backyard alone is just over 2 acres), a mix of trees and lawn. The backyard is only partially fenced and the fence was designed to keep in horses, not dogs, but the yard is quite private with trees lining the perimeter. We are surrounded by neighbours on all 3 sides, and on all but one there is a wide area of bush separating the properties. There are no pets on the side with the easiest access. Our house is up on a hill and the backyard isn’t visible from the road or vice versa so road traffic and dog walkers tend not to be a distraction though it's possible you will hear neighbourhood dogs during your visit (or the neighbourhood rooster). You are welcome to check out in the front yard too, if your dogs are friendly, there are big spaces on either side of the driveway with lots of trees to smell. Many families in the subdivision like walking and biking down the street. We have a backyard pond, it’s not stocked with fish but has frogs and ducks calling it home this year. We also have geese often. Early in the season the pond surface is clear, the bottom is rock and mud. Your dogs are welcome to play in it but as we get our water trucked in, we don’t have a rinse station. (We will have towels for you though.) By June we see duckweed on the pond surface. Not harmful but can be a bit annoying to get out of long fur. (Although duckweed can cover the water surface, the water below is clear. It is not algae and does not produce harmful toxins. It is a tiny aquatic plant with a grainy texture and looks like a miniature lily pad.) Feel free to use the swings, hammock, benches or picnic table. And the pergola offers a spot if you need rain or sun cover with hanging lights in the evening and heat lamps if it’s cold out. Dogs are welcome to lounge with you on the futon (under the pergola) - keep in mind that it’s only mostly sheltered so the cushion can be damp…check before you sit lol. We have a zip line that you’re welcome to try out (safe up to 200 lbs) - if it’s your first time, just send us a message before you visit and we can give you a quick lesson. Swings and zip line - use at your own risk like any other park. You're welcome to stay for a picnic and if you'd like, we can get a fire started for you. There are lawn blankets for you to use as well. Seasonal Notes: -Spring: our fruit trees are usually in full bloom the first week of June (along with the dandelions). The grass tends to be a bit wet in spots from the ground melting and is usually too wet for us to bag the clippings (which means mulched grass and wild animal droppings around the yard). Best to wear closed/waterproof shoes. -Summer: we’re mowing regularly and the lawn is at its best for laying on and flip flop friendly. The mosquitoes are here though and the pond is probably green with duckweed. Our raspberries and apple tree usually start to be pickable in July - help yourself! -Fall: so many apples - please pick some! We’ll have the patio heaters and lights on in the early evening to stretch out the chillier days. This is also when we tend to see the most deer and moose. -Winter: we keep a path plowed around the yard for walking and the pond cleared for skating (after it’s frozen through). We also have the pergola set up with a windbreak for winter fires or just the heaters on warmer days. The house and yard are also lit up like a gingerbread house. Our concrete driveway tends to be a bit slippery so we recommend coming up the gravel side. If you have any questions, please reach out. Note: Sniffspot was created in the US so the funds charged to your credit card will be in USD.

Hazards

Wildlife cross through the yard at times (mostly deer and rabbits but we have also seen moose and a coyote). We also have geese, ducks, moles, voles and other small wildlife. While we do a great job of picking up the dog poop, please expect to see wild animal droppings in the yard. We saw a porcupine once in 2019. We have a pond in the middle of the yard; no fish but frogs and ducks live there - the bottom is mud and rock, in some places more mud than rock and is about 3-4 feet deep in the middle. I get my rubber boots stuck when I walk more than a foot from the edge...dogs are light enough that they get in and out easily, but swim safely! The pond is fed from an underground source - this means that some low spots in the grass nearby can get wet. It will have green on the surface most of the summer - this is duckweed, not algae, and is not harmful. Part of the fence is wire and there are sharp edges. The yard is hilly and the ground can be uneven, there may also be holes in the ground where the moles/voles have been - watch your step! In the summer we get mosquitoes and recommend bug spray.

We moved from the city to the country a few years ago and love having what feels like our own personal dog park, right in our backyard. We spend a lot of time outdoors but are happy to share the space with others when we’re not using it. Please know that while we do our best to keep our space guest-ready at all times, we have a new baby, a new rescue pup and work full time, so some days it will be more manicured than others. We have swings, benches and picnic tables throughout the yard - make yourself comfortable and enjoy your visit! We have 2 dogs (a senior husky named Roger, our young rescue, a lab/shepherd named Ellie) and brother and sister cats - Clove and Ginger.
