I might have been their first visit. The owners were really nice but totally unprepared for my visit. As per the description, I was expecting 5 acres where my pack could run, but I found out when I arrived it was a very small fenced area in the rear of the house. The area was ok, my dogs enjoyed the grass but I spent 30+ minutes picking up dog poop. I was a bit disgusted by the amount in the yard but I did what I needed to do to give my pack their needed exercise. I also have a very spicy pup that was wound up when the horses decided to visit my pack. So my last 15 minutes of the hour were spent trying to keep him from jumping the fence. By then I finally left. I was more disappointed in the lack of running space than anything. At this point, I doubt I will try it again any time soon.
Host replied: I was not aware that Kim was coming. I'm new to Sniffspot and I couldn't figure out how to get the notifications promptly. I believe I told her I was not aware she was coming, but I'm not 100% sure about that. She stated her dogs might be more comfortable away from the horses, so I put them in the area with the highest fence and most security. I did tell her the horses typically don't go back that far, but the fence is 5' high and the horses can't get in. If she had started her dogs couldn't even see the horses without being triggered I would have been happy to put them away. The only reason I chose to do Sniffspot is because I have a highly reactive dog and my heart breaks for him. I know he's happier with a safe area to run here. If the horses come near the fence when he's out I use it as a teaching moment. He's come a long way. Maybe op did not have the proper resources at the time to try to teach her dog. I know that's tough to do in a new area. I was home the entire time and would have been happy to put the horses away. As for the yard but being cleaned up first she's probably right since I wasn't aware she was coming. I feel bad about that. I should've checked to see if my husband had cleaned first. All together we have 30 acres here in 5 separated yard areas. I was trying to keep her dogs more secure in the yard with the highest fence, furthest from the horses. I wish she had communicated more while she was here.
