55This place is a great little spot, big trees for shade & plenty of toys left out. Water was provided as well! Fully fenced! We made the best of the rain today, will come back and try when it’s sunny next! 😊
55This Sniffspot was great. There was ample parking, the entry gate was obviously marked, the fence was visibly secure and the location was quiet. Most importantly, my girl enjoyed her visit!
55Our pup LOVES this yard! Once the gate is closed behind him, he runs and runs and runs!! He loves to leap off the retaining wall and sniff all the corners. Ferdinand is very dog reactive, and this yard is perfect for him. There are no other dogs around and the fences are tall and secure. We had a lovely day, sitting in the sun and watching Ferdie run! Thank you for letting us use your yard for Ferd!
55Nice sized yard, thoughtful host - water, toys, etc.
55Our third time visiting with my foster dog and loved it as always!
35It was a nice spot,it was a rainy day. There was no place for us to stand out of the rain. Only stayed 15 minutes.
55A great yard for zoomies and fetch. Paisley loved it, and felt so fancy getting her own paper water bowl.
55We love this Sniffspot! It’s private, spacious, and the host is responsive and friendly. Highly recommend!
55Nice quiet space with no distractions for my dog to run around.
55Large, secure yard with super easy access and plenty of space to romp. My dogs loved it and got super tired! Hosts provide balls and chuckit, as well as water. Neighborhood is quiet with little to no trigger sounds. Would love to come back again.

Description

The retaining wall in the middle of the yard provides an awesome opportunity for running and leaping on and off, making zoomies all the more fun! To the side, there is also a gentle slope perfect for dogs who would rather take it easy. Fully fenced with 6' cedar fencing, which means your dog won't see cars, people, or other dogs passing by once you're in the yard. No neighbor dogs bordering any side of the fence, which keeps it peaceful and lessens anxiety. There is lighting under the magnolia tree and along the fences and buildings to help you enjoy your evening visit. An umbrella is provided for your use in case of rain. Private, off-street parking for up to two vehicles is provided in the driveway for your convenience. Please let us know if you need parking for more than two vehicles and we can make arrangements. Our comfy patio furniture and a table are provided for use, so feel free to bring snacks and drinks to enjoy while your dogs run around (an additional 4 camping chairs can be provided upon advance request). We provide a few toys for your use including tug toys and a ball and chuck-it, please return to the toy bucket when finished. Have your dog try out our new tree-mounted tug toy for a fun challenge! We also provide a clean bowl or paper water bowls and a jug of water for you to pour fresh water for your pup. Please toss your used water bowl in the trash bin in the driveway on your way out if you use a paper bowl. Poop bags are provided for your convenience. To minimize the spread of illness, please do not bring your dog to visit if it is sick. *Spring 2024* Please pardon our mess as we make some landscaping upgrades! We will be finishing the new retaining wall shortly and are working to grow new grass.

Cleanliness

99% of guests said this spot was as clean as expected during their visit.

Hazards

Some rocks on the rocks wall may be loose. Humans, please do not sit, stand, or walk on the rock wall. Please use either set of stairs or walk around. As we head into the wet season, it is prime time for mushrooms. I'll do my best to keep the yard clear of them but they grow quickly and are resilient. Please be alert and keep your dog from eating mushrooms if you find any. We are in the rainy season! The spot will usually be wet. Please watch your step as wet leaves and mud can be slippery. We are in the middle of some landscaping upgrades! There is temporarily a big pile of rocks in the corner of the yard.

Sniff Scavenger Hunt$10

Add some mental enrichment to your visit! Before your arrival, I'll hide treats all over the yard to challenge your pup to sniff them out. Treats may be chicken jerky or dried beef lung (message if you have a preference). *only available on Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays unless otherwise arranged*

Splash pad$5

This adds a splash pad to your visit, in addition to the pool! Dogs love running through the sprinkler streams and it eliminates the tall pool wall that presents a barrier for smaller dogs. This is also great for dogs who like to go in and out of the pool, so they always have clean water to run through! This will be all set up for you, just turn it on and off at the base of the splash pad.

Towel$2

A clean dry towel to help dry off your dog, minimizing the mess in your car!

A world-class Pacific Northwest natural rainforest adventure awaits you and your best friends on 66-year-old trails, through 2 acres of trails, forest, tall old growth trees, a creek, and open areas for ball throwing and chasing sticks on 9 terraces. Starting with your choice of 2 entrance paths on the far left and right over a bluff that winds around to The Landing Pad, through other trails forming circles to run around on and play. ('Yes, there are 2 paths you can go by'). At the very bottom, our Madhatter trail leads to a creek. The property is partially fenced and has natural barriers. It is bounded by a fence at the top, a fence on one L-shaped side, a cliff, and creek on the other. Bring more than one dog, if at all possible, because they LOVE to play 'Hide and Go Seek', and chase each other around in circles on the switchback trails, down the hill to the creek and back up the hill to the lodge. This tranquil forest was mostly clear-cut between 66 to 100 years ago then not replanted. So we replanted our 2-acre forest with 600+ trees. The ground is wood chips, sand, Pacific Northwest duff, with 160ft tall Hemlock, Douglas Fir, Alder, Big Leaf Maple trees, 1 Madrona, ferns, and native bushes with views of a 20-acre privately owned forested wetland. We prepared the yard as a Sniffspot for dogs. Rarely seen are animals in the forest - occasional wild rabbits, moles, squirrels, mountain beavers, raccoons, mice, shrews, voles, and weasels. Many birds are seen and heard here- thrush, grosbeaks, warblers, sparrows, starlings, chickadees, flycatchers, redstarts, vireos, tanager, pewees, orioles, woodpeckers - shorebirds, waterfowl, raptors, such as hawks, and American Bald Eagles. This is a rugged forested area so be careful of footing! watch for signs of moles and Mountain beaver underground trails crossing the paths, especially along Secret Lane, Lover's Lane, and Hidden Lane (signs to be added soon). Do wear boots if you plan to access the creek. We spent 4+ years removing invasive bushes, cutting down dead trees, and creating places for you to run, walk, play, pause, sit, and enjoy your dogs in this natural rainforest, one mile from the South Sound. When you park you can close the entry gate at the top. We feel a lot of delight here. We welcome you to enjoy it now! 2 Starbucks are less than 5 minutes away in either direction (bathrooms are available there). Bigfoot Java is at 4627 SW 320th St. (no bathroom but open 24x7) Join us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61556216197208 or search "Wonderlane World Famous Sniffspot" :-) Wonderlane is a place to commune with nature, a peaceful place to breathe in nature with some walks over and around 2 acres of forested hills. You can't get lost, just keep going up if you are unsure. When it is raining and for water dogs, bring a towel to dry off pups' paws. There is water to wash dogs down near the creek. Actually there are water hydrants in most areas. If your dog is reactive and you want to, you may keep your pup leashed the 20 ft from your vehicle to the top of either trailhead. When leaving via either trail at the top you can easily pause to leash your dog if you wish. PS. If your dog doesn't want to leave, contact me and I'll ring the Magic Chuck Waggin' Triangle, and your dog will come. No worries! Toss garbage away at the top driveway as you exit in the large gray bin marked "Garbage".
