55Harvey had such a good time!! Lots of things to explore!! Clear instructions from the host, would definitely go back!!
55This was a great place to let my girls run and explore. Lots of paths to follow and they are well maintained. Linda was very welcoming and I loved the added bonus of treats for me and a bottle of water. We will definitely be back.
55Gorgeous! So many lovely trails and hills, and a great creek. Definitely muddy, but I think the dogs liked it better because of it. Linda left a lovely bag of human treats on our car.
55Perfect little piece of heaven to explore. Exactly as described, very welcoming. We will certainly be coming back.
55Awesome place to let the dogs run around! Dogs loved jumping in the creek and rolling in the mud. There are hoses to hose them off!
55Linda is the best Sniffspot host always improving her Sniffspot to make it the best place to be.
55We’ve been to this spot twice now. Love the woodsy feeling while also having trails. Never have run into any dogs or heard any. My dog loves to go around different trails to explore and chase the ball. The owner seems real accommodating with the constant work they are putting into their trails and providing toys, water and chairs for the human’s experience.
55My dogs went completely out of their minds exploring Wonderlane for the first time. The trails, the plants, the smells, the beckoning creek were almost too much to handle. It reminded me of hiking in the foothills but without the same level of peril and encouters with others. After exhausting themselves, and me too, we were greeted with a lovely welcome treat on our way out. We plan to come back again sometime, but definitely before bug season is in full swing. My dogs don't mind bit I freak out if I feel a spider web. Great fun!
55This place is amazing! Our dogs couldn’t get enough of the trail and the creeks. Definitely bring a towel because the water has a muddy bank. Linda was very kind and even left some candy on our car.
55We had a great time! Linda was helpful and answered my questions before we visited and provided detailed information about her property. The property was huge and had trails all over for walking. The dogs loved running ahead and up the sides through the brush. There’s a creek at the bottom and a bit of a mud puddle that they loved running through. You can hear neighbors but they’re far away and there’s plenty to keep the dogs distracted. Linda also had beverages out if needed and even left us some treats at the end- people treats! We will definitely be returning!

Description

A world-class Pacific Northwest natural rainforest adventure awaits you and your best friends on 66-year-old trails, through 2 acres of trails, forest, tall old growth trees, a creek, and open areas for ball throwing and chasing sticks on 9 terraces. Starting with your choice of 2 entrance paths on the far left and right over a bluff that winds around to The Landing Pad, through other trails forming circles to run around on and play. ('Yes, there are 2 paths you can go by'). At the very bottom, our Madhatter trail leads to a creek. The property is partially fenced and has natural barriers. It is bounded by a fence at the top, a fence on one L-shaped side, a cliff, and creek on the other. Bring more than one dog, if at all possible, because they LOVE to play 'Hide and Go Seek', and chase each other around in circles on the switchback trails, down the hill to the creek and back up the hill to the lodge. This tranquil forest was mostly clear-cut between 66 to 100 years ago then not replanted. So we replanted our 2-acre forest with 600+ trees. The ground is wood chips, sand, Pacific Northwest duff, with 160ft tall Hemlock, Douglas Fir, Alder, Big Leaf Maple trees, 1 Madrona, ferns, and native bushes with views of a 20-acre privately owned forested wetland. We prepared the yard as a Sniffspot for dogs. Rarely seen are animals in the forest - occasional wild rabbits, moles, squirrels, mountain beavers, raccoons, mice, shrews, voles, and weasels. Many birds are seen and heard here- thrush, grosbeaks, warblers, sparrows, starlings, chickadees, flycatchers, redstarts, vireos, tanager, pewees, orioles, woodpeckers - shorebirds, waterfowl, raptors, such as hawks, and American Bald Eagles. This is a rugged forested area so be careful of footing! watch for signs of moles and Mountain beaver underground trails crossing the paths, especially along Secret Lane, Lover's Lane, and Hidden Lane (signs to be added soon). Do wear boots if you plan to access the creek. We spent 4+ years removing invasive bushes, cutting down dead trees, and creating places for you to run, walk, play, pause, sit, and enjoy your dogs in this natural rainforest, one mile from the South Sound. When you park you can close the entry gate at the top. We feel a lot of delight here. We welcome you to enjoy it now! 2 Starbucks are less than 5 minutes away in either direction (bathrooms are available there). Bigfoot Java is at 4627 SW 320th St. (no bathroom but open 24x7) Join us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61556216197208 or search "Wonderlane World Famous Sniffspot" :-) Wonderlane is a place to commune with nature, a peaceful place to breathe in nature with some walks over and around 2 acres of forested hills. You can't get lost, just keep going up if you are unsure. When it is raining and for water dogs, bring a towel to dry off pups' paws. There is water to wash dogs down near the creek. Actually there are water hydrants in most areas. If your dog is reactive and you want to, you may keep your pup leashed the 20 ft from your vehicle to the top of either trailhead. When leaving via either trail at the top you can easily pause to leash your dog if you wish. PS. If your dog doesn't want to leave, contact me and I'll ring the Magic Chuck Waggin' Triangle, and your dog will come. No worries! Toss garbage away at the top driveway as you exit in the large gray bin marked "Garbage".

Hazards

Wonderlane Sniffspot has access to a shallow creek, for safety, we request that children and dogs be accompanied when near or in the creek. Sniffspot requests that guests review these guidelines for visiting spots with water before visiting: https://help.sniffspot.com/article/167-how-to-keep-your-dog-safe-around-pools-and-water 'Elephant Walk' of wood rounds over wet soil leading to the Creek helps keep dogs' feet dry. It is also possible to go to the creek on a completely different trail, on the left side of the property, down an embankment where the shallow creek is very nice with a gravel base. Boots are recommended, as are towels for doggies feeties. (We plan to add gates to these areas.) In the summer heat, if bugs come just keep walking away or bring some bug repellant, don't wave at them. Please police poo. If you see anything please text us and we'll collect it. It's a big area and sometimes things slip by the most ardent collector! :-) The garbage bin is located at the entrance. PS - If your dog doesn't want to leave, contact me and I'll ring the Magic Chuck Waggin' Triangle, and your dog will come. No worries!

Linda is the best Sniffspot host always improving her Sniffspot to make it the best place to be.

Host replied: What a lovely comment Patrice! My gardener and his brother-in-law built the new cedar fence on the top level. New welded wire fencing is going up along the southwestern lot line. I noticed doggies found the big concrete lotus shaped fountain to drink from. Hope to have the tea and coffee station set up soonish. We will clear the felled logs remaking sometime this summer thus creating larger places to play ball. Then the dog parkour playground will be improved. And the waterfall and wood foot bridge will be built! It is getting there thanks to you! - Linda

Host replied: Thank you Kerry, Of course we love hearing how it went. It smells so nice in the spring. Sometimes I sit outside at the top of Flying Horse, and just drink it in. We have found that if you wear bug juice like Repel, or Off Deep Woods, the bugs just leave you alone, even after the bug season kicks in. Some folks take massive doses of VIt B but so far that seems to make me more appealing to the mosquitos at dusk. Also, because people and dogs pass through, there seem to be fewer bugs. I'm not sure. When we find a nest we ask them to vacate. Isn't privacy wonderful? Cheers and see you again soon, -Linda & the Wonderlane Team
