If I could rate this zero stars, I would. The address was not clearly marked and I wasn’t sure which house it was…messaged the host and got no response. It says to park behind the blue van but there are multiple properties with blue vans. A neighbor finally came out to help me. Once I figured out where to get into the yard we found the goat was out roaming the sniff spot. I had my son take our dogs back out so I could try and coax the goat into its cage..no luck. Messaged the host again - again no response. We ended up having to leave because my dogs can’t handle the goat. Aside from all that - this yard is an actual dump being passed off as a play area. The ground is covered in goat poop, there are piles of junk and random wire gates up. There’s a shovel out in the middle of yard along with power tools. The back gate is lined with crap…I could not imagine letting my dogs run around in all that. This was my first booking with sniff spot and if this is the standard of a great place for dogs to play I’d never use the app again.
Had a blast with my pittie at Jake's place and we'll be back soon! It's not dry, rocky or mulched like other places within similar driving distance so I wasn't worried about paw injuries. The area is huge with shaded areas, and Jeff the goat was super sweet and chill/napping in his separate pen. The agility equipment was fun to train with and Jake even gave me training tips for new equipment since he's a pro dog trainer. He gave me a thorough run down of the area since it was my first visit and even brought out a Chuck it wand for us to borrow. My pup is currently passed out several hours ahead of schedule so this spot gets a 5/5 from him (and me). Yes there are foxtails around per other reviews, most are still green and none bothered my dog but if you have a long haired dog it could be a nuisance.
Was a fun spot, my dog was fascinated with the goat and spent his whole time watching him
Owner Jake is a great guy, however the pictures made it look more grassy/dirt. It was COVERED in foxtails that could have easily been mowed down. There was also goat poop everywhere which was not fun to keep stepping in or having my dog roll in. It is fully gated and easy to get to, but not thrilled by any means.
Unfortunately for my first time using Sniffspot this was not a good experience. There was a loose goat on the property which was not stated in the listing. Luckily I noticed the goat laying in the grass before letting my reactive dogs off leash but if I had not noticed either the goat or my dogs could have been injured as they are not friendly with other animals which is why we were trying renting out a private space to play. I messaged the host upon arrival and multiple times throughout our paid hour with no response. After twenty minutes of waiting for the host to reply I put the dogs in the car and coaxed the goat into a small pen (which in hindsight I shouldn’t have done because I don’t know the animal or it’s temperament). I let my dogs out to play but they were barking and growling at the goat which was stressful for everyone involved and we left early. At the very least please list that there is an animal in your space and what to do if it is loose and whether or not ppl should let it out if the pen after their visit. Additionally please be available during the hours you are renting your space so you can respond to issues with your space or your pet. This is inconsiderate to both your very sweet goat and the dogs visiting your space.
Host replied: I apologize for your experience! typically, for your 1st time at my property, walk people back. With the goat penned up prior to your arrival, and if your pups are too reactive, i can completely remove the goat for your time! I am sorry, i did not see your reservation for some reason. I'd love to make it up to you! Please dm me at your convenience!
Great spot! My big dog loved exploring and playing fetch.
Too much weeds everywhere and a goat that was just wandering around
Nice large natural space in South San Jose. The host is very helpful and communicative, made sure to meet us for our arrival. He is a dog trainer, has dogs himself, but they were put away the entire time. The front of the house isn't fancy, and you walk by an unused and unmaintained pool, but getting back to the main area, it is large enough for dogs to run around and tire out, and check things out. There is some agility equipment. There are a good number of foxtails and some areas with junk and debris, but my dog enjoyed exploring at all. There was plenty of water, chairs and shade. Parts of the area are quite steep, so wear sturdy shoes. There's also a goat in an open enclosure in the area. My dog was not a fan, but she can be a jerk-- I thought the goat was fantastic! And the host let us know that he could put the goat away if it was a problem for my dog. Very minimal dog poop, although a fair amount of what appeared to be rabbit poop. In general, lots to sniff and I always appreciate an attentive host. My dog enjoyed the time more than she does at some of the other spots (empty areas with AstroTurf), but it just depends on) what you are looking for in a spot. In the end, it was a fun adventure for my dog, which is the most important part!
Host replied: Oops! it looks like you seen some leftover from the goat and probably my pups, sorry about that! It'll be more clean next time we see you!
Our dogs had fun here! The area is fully fenced with chairs, some shade, and lots of fresh water set out. There is a goat named Jeff who is safely in his own fenced area. The owner is great and was there to greet us and see us out.
Loved this space! So much room for my dogs to explore and play fetch. There was even some hilly areas to tire them out even more. An added bonus was how nice the owner was and all of the fruit trees! We will definitely be returning on a consistent basis.
