Instructions are to have dogs leashed when arrived which is very appropriate but did not expect the owners dog to be loose. To be fair I booked close to time and understand the mistake and someone called the dog into the house after many failed attempts and it had already reached me an my dogs. What I did not expect was the dog to be loose again when i returned to my car as the owner knew me and my dogs were on the property. Luckily the dog was friendly but one of my dogs is not too accepting of other animals and it was a very inappropriate situation to put me and my animals in from the spot owner. I called out many times to the spot holders house to inform them my dog was not friendly and to recall their dog with no response. Just because your animal does well with other doesn’t mean your guest animals do. Additionally workers were on the trail with me and my dogs. The trail should have been closed due to workers and wasn’t, but the main concern being unattended dogs while the property was being used.
Host replied: I am just now seeing this message and your review. I mention in the details of my sniff spot profile that if any dogs do not get along with other dogs to please let me know so I can put my dog away in the house ahead of time. You never warned me of any issues so I assumed your dogs were friendly. The workers/surveyors were here on extended time so I was not aware of how much longer they would be staying. I allow sniff spotters to come with no required notice ahead of time but if your dog requires complete privacy then giving more notice ahead of booking would help us provide this for you or at least warn you if anyone is on site. I am sorry you had such a bad experience here and only hope it will improve if you do come again. Please let me know ahead of time if you require any accommodations and we will try our best to do so.
It is a very nice spot for an off leash dog or even a long line! The trail is very wild and natural which is awesome, but be aware of your surroundings and make sure to keep track of the trail markers! Me and my pup ended up getting lost and coming out of the woods on a completely different road and had to walk on the highway to get back. No fault of the sniffspot owner! Just orient yourself frequently when you are in the woods. Overall my dog got some extra exercise and had fun!
Host replied: My deepest apologies that this happened to you, we've definitely never had this happen before. This time of year nature tends to take over and there is a lot of over growth that catches up with me but I'm planning this weekend to do some serious cleanup on the trails and fix up the markers to be crystal clear so this never happens again.
We had a great visit! Super quiet and peaceful. We had no problems finding the spot, some of the signage was a little confusing so we got lost along the trail. But the creek was awesome and our dog really enjoyed herself.
Dogs had a great adventure and really enjoyed playing in and cooling off in the stream! Got a little lost on the way back, signage hard to find/see in some areas. Thanks for sharing, we will be back!
Great experience. Very clean. The wider trail section is like nature’s cathedral.
Nice and shaded and the dogs loved playing in the creek.
Very private trail, perfect for my socially awkward Aussie baby!
Super fun trek thru the woods with my reactive foster pup. He loved it and so did I! Recommend bug spray and /or long sleeves/ pants. We'll be back!
This trail was perfect. It's the perfect place to train dogs off leash, definitely going back 🤗
My deaf and reactive dog loved it! He got to have an adventure without anxiety of running into other dogs. There was plenty of shade and even some shallow water to splash in to stay cool. We plan on visiting again in the future!
