Description

Lazy Bones Acres offers 5 acres of wooded hiking trails for you and your furry companion to enjoy. Pack a lunch to enjoy on one of our picnic tables along the way or simply take in the peacefulness of the forest and wildlife. Listen to the squirrels chase each other in the tree tops, the woodpeckers pecking away in a nearby tree, or the geese honking at a nearby pond. Three acres are fully fenced and enclosed to let your dog run free. Wildlife that are commonly seen on visits include deer, rabbits, wild turkeys, chipmunks, a beautiful array of wild birds, and much more. *Our terrain is uneven as it goes through woods. If you have trouble with balance or walking, please reconsider your visit to our property for your safety. Trails are kept clear, but raspberry and blackberry bushes present thorns, please use caution with these prickers. ** Our spot is fully fenced, however if your dog is not command trained we do not recommend letting them off leash. Dogs have a natural instinct to chase the rabbits and squirrels we have.

Hazards

Our trails are wooded. While we strive to keep our trails fully groomed and clear, part of the outdoor experience means there may be burrs, thorns, mud, ticks, wild animals, and uneven terrain. If you have balance trouble or struggle while walking, we encourage you to reconsider your visit to our trails for your safety. While our spot is fully fenced, if your dog is not command trained, we do not recommend letting them off leash. Dogs have a natural instinct to chase the squirrels and rabbits we have here. *Pet First Aid Kit (along with some human supplies) and bug spray are in the dog house by the Trail Entrance.

What a beautiful setting! We had the most perfect fall day, the trails were very maintained, the space was spacious but not overwhelming, and the dogs had a complete blast. So grateful to these hosts for making their idyllic setting available for all. We made the trip from Chicago and we will definitely be back. It’s well worth the trip!

Great place to bring your dogs! Tons of room for them to play and explore. Millie and Marley had tons of fun and were exhausted by the time we got home. Highly recommend this place!

What an amazing spot! We drove over 45 minutes and it was worth it! This is a wonderful spot with LOTS of space to explore. The trails are all labeled and intertwined so you will always know where you are. Our old girl Maggie loved being off leash and sniffing and our big guy enjoyed having more freedom on a really long leash than he usually gets on trail walks. There’s tons of amenities including poop bags, agility equipment, brushes, a picnic bench and towels in case your pups get muddy! The host takes amazing care of the trails and is so hospitable. Definitely will be back again.

This is a wonderful off-leash dog park!! Very nice large fenced in area with trees and trails to walk, it’s peaceful and relaxing. My dogs and I love this place and we will be returning!

Great sniff spot! My pup had a blast running the trails and playing with the agility equipment. Host even supplied water and a few toys.

Another great visit! Thanks for the thoughtful gesture of leaving towels out to dry the benches. Had a wonderful visit!

We're so excited to share our love for animals and the outdoors with fellow animal lovers! My husband and I have rescued and adopted many animals over the years. Currently we are owned by two English Mastiffs. We feel that allowing dogs to explore new surroundings and scents can keep their minds and bodies young and working. We're happy that we're able to open our trails for your dog's physical and mental enrichment!
