Description

*DISCLAIMER* during the winter months, when the ground thaws and re-freezes, it is soggy and muddy in our yard. If you choose to visit during this time of the year, I recommend bringing an old towel to wipe off dirty paws before getting back into your vehicle. We have space to romp around. We have a 6-ft fence for safety and privacy. We have an obstacle course and agility equipment for structured play and socialization. We have all the best toys for loads of fun. All of this inside the Beltway on a quiet street with plenty of unrestricted street parking. The yard itself is maintained and manicured all-year around. Expect a fresh bowl of water every time you visit and help yourself to all the yard has to offer. Come visit and get those zoomies out! And welcome to the DiP yard! #DiPYard See also dogsinpublic.com.

My doggos are quite low energy in the evening, but matt had some cool toys to get them going. Thanks for providing so much matt!!

What a wonderful spot! The pups had a great time and had plenty of room to run around and chase each other. The agility equipment was a nice touch and the dogs had a lot of fun exploring! Will be back!

My dogs had a great time playing here today. There was a big water bowl and lots of toys as well as a secure fence. It was hot so it was nice that there was some shade at the back of the yard.

Great backyard setup, plus extra sturdy rope toys my foster loved!

  • Dhania N., May 6, 2023

Clear instructions and a fun, safe space with all of the toys and obstacle courses. Really appreciated how thoughtful the host is, including leaving clean drinking water out.

We loved our visit to this spot! The entry & exit process was simple. The yard is a great size, was very clean & had many toys available. We will be returning!

Yard is on a slight hill but wasn’t a problem at all. High wood fence, which is great for privacy. The mini obstacle course was fun!

Great yard with lots of fun toys and obstacles for our dog. Will definitely be back!

Meet your host

I am dad to a teenager and a rescue dog named Titan. When he came into our lives in 2019, I started the transformation of my yard to what it has become today. It all happened for one simple reason: for Titan to become a good dog in public. For that to happen, he needed a lot of structure, confidence building, boundaries and obedience, in private. Titan's arrival also helped me discover my passion for helping strengthen the relationship between humans and their canine friends. In 2020, I founded Dogs in Public, a dog training business (more at dogsinpublic.com). Everything in the yard serves a purpose that I hope you will also get to enjoy as you work with your dog! Don't hesitate to contact me for help or questions. Come for a visit to the coolest dog "spot" in Northern Virginia. And welcome to the Dogs in Public Yard! #DiPYard

All earnings will be donated to a couple of smaller rescue groups, including Pets With Disabilities (MD), Lizzie's Lodge Rescue (MD) and Arcadia Animal Rescue (SC). We have a very private fenced in yard, we would like to offer up to any other pups who might enjoy some freedom! Lots of availability for weekdays too. We have a natural wooded yard that borders a county park on one side, with a 6ft wooden fence all the way around the property, and a side entry gate. The ground cover is the soft playground wood chips, specifically designed to be comfortable for all kinds of furbabies! Endless amounts of smells and sniffing opportunities from all the local wildlife that frequent our yard. Good space for long runs, frisbee, tennis ball, soccer ball action for the energetic pups, and plenty of space for meandering, or just lounging around in the sun spots for the more mature pups. The yard has sunny areas and plenty of natural shade from the trees. You can also enjoy a deck with a patio table, cushioned chairs and lawn chair seating, poop bags, extra dog water bowls, outdoor spigot with hose for water bowl refills, or hose play and elevated feeders for the pups who cannot bend down very well to drink. The public park next to us has several wooded trails, so if your pup has any energy left, it is a nice park to walk. Quiet spread out and very dog friendly neighborhood. Easy parking on the street outside the house, side entry gate but please make sure you click the gate shut when you leave though!
