Description

Welcome to Pooch’s Paradise! I’m Kaitlyn, a professional dog trainer who owns Kaitlyn’s Dog Training. My dogs are basically my children, and the entire yard has been catered to them and my clients’ dogs. This half-acre yard is fully fenced (6 foot privacy, plus a 4-ft chain link surrounding a garden area), and even has a double-gate system to enter and exit, like you would see at a dog park to add extra safety. There are tons of enrichment activities available. I always have a wide variety of toys, a children’s climbing playset that the dogs love, and in decent weather I also have a ball pit, a kiddie pool, small agility tunnels, and have plans to add additional agility equipment at some point in the future. Additionally, we now have a 10 foot x 10 foot canopy over the seating area to provide additional shade. There is also a green tent, in which guests can always find dry towels for wiping down dogs, as well as dry cushions for the chairs and even a Mudbuster tool for cleaning off paws. We do everything we can to provide the absolute best experience for you and your dog, and we think you’ll love it! The only dogs I have ever allowed on the property are vaccinated, healthy, and up-to-date on flea & tick prevention. All the pups who visit my home find that the yard is quite literally their own personal playground, and I know your dogs will love it too!

Extras

Birthday Pawty$25.0

If you’re throwing a birthday party for your dog (and hopefully bringing their best doggy friends to celebrate with them), use this Extra and I will decorate the yard with various dog birthday decorations and include party hats and treats for the pups.

Dog Safety Tools$5.0

If you have multiple dogs and would like to have some safety tools on hand in case of a dog fight, use this add-on. I will leave supplies including a loud air horn, and also citronella spray or a water bottle, as well as a large cardboard board (ideal for putting between two dogs). ***Dog safety tips are posted outside the gate, so check those out before entering.***

Kiddie Pool$7.0

When weather allows, I can set out some dog-friendly kiddie pools and fill them with fresh water so your pup can have fun and stay cool! **Note that these pools are not more than a foot tall, so they’re more for splashing and not swimming.**

Professional Supervision$25.0

I’m a professional dog trainer and if you have more than one dog during your reservation and they haven’t met before, use this add-on to have me join so that I can safely introduce the dogs (with multiple safety precautions in place), and help you monitor body language to be sure the dogs are interacting in a healthy way. ***This is offered only as my schedule allows, so PLEASE MESSAGE ME IN ADVANCE so I can confirm if I’m available.

Scavenger Hunt!$8.0

I have fun miniature metal buckets and hide various treats inside them, then hide them throughout the half-acre yard for your dog to find. Your dog can have the treats, but please leave the buckets behind so I can reuse them. ***Please try to give me as much notice as you can so I can be certain to set it up for you, and please let me know if your dog has any known allergies.***

So fun for dogs! She has so much in her yard! She was super friendly and wonderful to work with! Great for dog reactive dogs as the neighborhood was nice and quiet! We will be back!

  • Alexis E., Sep 24, 2023

The backyard was large and spacious. However, there was not tent with dry cushions or towels to clean off our dogs paws. There was no ball pit. There were no hoops to jump through. There was only one tunnel. I was thankful for the space, but I booked this spot for the enrichment activities and the towels and neither were available. There were four or five other dogs in the neighborhood that barked relentlessly for more than half of our time there. Overall, it was a spacious and clean yard. Just not what we expected or paid for.

Host replied: Hi Alexis, Thank you for your review. I apologize our spot didn’t meet your expectations. I do want to note that we always have the green tent up, and it always has clean towels and dry cushions. Perhaps you didn’t see it? It’s right next to the entry gate (sort of tucked into the corner of the yard). And we have a large sign upon entry that explains that the large ball pit is now located on the deck, so perhaps you missed it? I’m very sorry that there were neighbor dogs barking, which is out of our control. The description of our spot does mention that we have neighbors with dogs. However, our neighbors nearly always bring their dogs in right away if they begin barking, so I’m surprised to hear there was excessive barking and am sincerely sorry that it happened during your visit as that’s not a common occurrence. I believe the day you visited was a day we had recently mowed the yard and had not yet returned all the agility tunnels or hoops back up, but we do have them back up now. Thank you for letting us know about the issues you had. We’re doing everything in our control to make sure our Sniffspot meets or exceeds expectations, and hope we may earn a 5 star review from you in the future.

Grass was nice for Finn, yard was clean and there was water available. He loved the exercise ball

  • Sydney H., Jul 30, 2023

Great spot! So many toys to play with, and the fencing was tall and secure so I was able to relax while my dog sniffed his heart out!

We had a great time at this Sniffspot! Kaitlyn was a great communicator and made sure we felt comfortable for our first ever visit. The location was super safe, secure, quiet, and peaceful. Lots of great toys to play with, but our reactive pup mostly enjoyed just sniffing around and lying in the grass. Thank you so much for hosting us. We’ll definitely be back!

  • Rielle W., Jul 3, 2023

We had a great time celebrating my mom’s birthday with our puppies! Kaitlyn was very responsive and provided extra party decorations and goodies for us. It really helped pull the event together! It was a hit with the people and the pups!

Dogs were tired, which was my goal 😊 plenty of room to get a good run in

I’m Kaitlyn Shamery, and my entire world revolves around dogs (and occasionally my husband or friends haha). After graduating from Bergin University of Canine Studies (where I learned how to train service dogs), I moved back to West Michigan and have been training dogs ever since. I have two dogs of my own who are basically my children. We bought this house specifically so we could give them a huge yard and spoil them, and I know your dogs will love it too!
