    Great spot!

Huge space! Found two different hikes, one up a steep hill through two fields and the other along a creek. We had a great time.

Saw another person as well as an off leash dog. Everything was ok, but had the potential to be a dangerous situation given our reactive dogs.

Host replied: Yea, thats was me and Diesel.. I forgot you were still out there, and I was running to the store and just wanted him to pee before I Left.. My Appoligies, I guess old age does that to you. LOL

Great location to exercise an anxious dog! I needed to get my dog out of the house while we had some maintenance done and was excited to find this spot. There are open fields to run, or a trail to sniff. The trail is located to the right before getting to the field. Beautiful property!

The place was easy to find. My pup had a wonderful time running around. Also, the place was clean. Highly recommend and definitely going to return again !

Great spot for reactive dogs to run around free in!

  • Babette E., Feb 23, 2023

Jim’s property was terrific! Easy to find and there were so many areas to explore and let our Aussie get some energy out running and herding us up the hill, going crazy in the woods smelling other animals, rolling in the grass. We had a blast and will definitely be back!! Bring your hiking shoes and shoes you don’t mind getting dirty. It was a great workout for us too!! Thanks Jim!!

Host replied: Thank you for visiting hope to see youy again..

Really enjoyed our time here! The pups had fun and the location has an open field as well as forested areas to walk through. Jim’s place is right off of a road, so just be aware in case your dog doesn’t have great recall. I’ll definitely be going back!! Was a nice getaway for a few hours on the weekend!

My dog Jade had a wonderful time. She was sad to leave. Spent 2hrs here and she wasn't done running. I didn't realize that the smaller lake was behind the larger lake until I saw it from the meadow. It was easy to find with GPS. The location is right off of the road, so definitely need to pay attention. It was so nice for my dog to have a fun day without worrying about being leash tied. And it was so peaceful and quiet. Saw a few deer.

Such a beautiful location! Our pups had a great time!

Complete freedom to roam on 30 acres with a bonus that our land is surrounded by another 200+ acres of electric company owned land with no roads, no cars, no neighbors… just grass and forest. We occasionally have farm animals positioned on an acre or 2 who are fully fenced in. If you see blue fence posts with white wire / rope running between them, please assume the fence is electrified. We would ask that you use caution with your dogs around the livestock areas so as not to frighten the animals or the dogs! We have a Google Earth picture roughly showing the property lines and the driveway for you to use while exploring. Bonus: We are a small farm so if you are interested in picking up some chicken or pork - send us a message and we can have your order ready for pick up when you arrive. You can visit www.hardstrugglehomestead.com for more info and details or just message us about our to-go farm products. There is no house on the property. Just a camper and a shed. Park anywhere on the road or at the big circle at the top (near the farm office.) We have wifi near the brown shed at the top of the road. Wifi: HSH Password: HardStruggleHomestead We are happy to say hello and give you a tour of our farm and answer any questions about how we raise our chicken and pigs. We are also happy to give you a future free sniff spot hour with the purchase of chicken or pork! Just inquire within! Be forewarned that our land is on the side of a mountain so the walk up the driveway will be on a slow incline. Your dogs will be tired after this trip, we promise.

Large fenced in backyard. Open space to run and play. Patio with umbrella table and four swivel chairs. Two trees for shade. Various dog toys that are cleaned after each visit. A kiddie pool as an extra (April- September). Lights for nighttime play! Please park in the street in front of the house. Enter through the gate on the right side of the house. If I have advance notice and I am home, I will leave a cold bowl of water on the back steps. Bug spray, sunscreen, hand sanitizer, paper towels, dog treats, and a dog first aid kit are in the bin on the umbrella table. If you bring your own bowl and I wasn’t able to leave one out, please feel free to use the hose and water from the spigot on the back of the house to the right of the sunroom behind the umbrella table. Please make sure you turn it off when you are finished. Water to that spigot will be winterized (turned off) once the temperature drops below 32° and will be de-winterized (turned on) in early spring when the temperatures warm up. When the water to the spigot is turned off, there will be a jug of fresh water on the back steps for your use. There is a garbage can with a plastic bag in it for discarding your poop bags, on the left side of the door to the shed. Please knot your poop bags. The spigot on the right front of the shed is not potable but can be used for cleaning or cooling your dog down. The spigot tends to spray, so stand as far to the left as you can when turning it on if you don’t want to get wet! This system will be winterized (turned off) during the winter months. New toys will be added and rotated on a regular basis. They can be found in the plastic bin on the patio table. Please feel free to help yourself to what is in the bin. After each use, I wash and sanitize each of the toys. Please try to keep your dog from laying in the decorative grass around the perimeter of the sunroom. In the winter, please try to keep your dog(s) from the flowerbeds that are on the perimeter of the yard in front of the fences. Those areas tend to get muddy in the winter months, but are full of flowers in the spring/summer. The wooden bench in front of the garden recently became wobbly, and it may not be stable to sit on. I am looking into getting it fixed.
