We love this place! Perfect amount of space

Host replied: Thank you Caitlyn! We appreciate you coming by! :)

This is a great place for your dogs to romp, especially if they love to retrieve as my dog does. Some open fields are filled with deep divets, and I worry when I use the Chuck-It to throw the ball long distances that one of my dog's feet will land in a hole as he races for the ball. But the large open area at this Sniffspot is smooth -- making it perfect for a great retrieving session! This Sniffspot is also surrounded by lovely tall trees, which make it a feel peaceful and cozy.

Host replied: Thank you so much for coming by Heidi & Jasper! We are always happy to share our space! :)

This is a great yard for running your dog. The fence is tight all the way around. There is a walking trail, Are running field, And lots of doggy parkour. Our duffy loves it

Host replied: Look at that little face!!! So adorable!!! As always, you and Duffy are welcome anytime! Thanks again for your on going support! :)

Unfortunately, the Waze app failed us. It had us drive down the wrong road and low cell coverage forced us to drive all the way back to the main road to regroup and get better directions. If you go, use Google Maps or you will lose about 10 minutes doing what we did. Once we got to the Sniffspot, though, it was worth it. Yoshi had a great time exploring. For his parents, we were scouting a good spot to do some recall training and chuck-it ball play sessions. This place definitely provided us a safe, quiet place to do both. We walked the fence line several times getting him to do "stay with the pack" games and the wide open areas allowed for some great ball tossing. Thank you for the filled water bowl. He definitely needed it. This is one of the few Sniffspots near our home that had everything we needed. We will definitely add this location into our rotation.

Host replied: Im so sorry waze didn't get corrected yet! We were dealing with Google for over a year to get that straightened out. I will send another message to waze to fix the issue. Im glad you all had a good time regardless! :)

Lovely secluded spot! My dog loved it! He can be distracted by other animals but since the chickens were out of sight he didn’t get too fixated - just some sniffing!

Host replied: Thanks Mckenna! We appreciate you coming by! :)

We had a great time… Mr. Blue Bear’s nose said this spot was extra sniffy! We loved it! There were lots of natural areas to explore in the middle, the track around the edge was nice- dry and level, toys galore, and the fencing was very secure. The host gave us plenty of privacy, but when I messaged her she responded right away and was so kind. I think this would be a great spot for almost any dogs and their people!

Host replied: Omg! So cute!! Mr. Blue Bear is welcome anytime! Glad he got to get all the good sniffs! :) Thanks Rebekah!

A world-class Pacific Northwest natural rainforest adventure awaits you and your best friends on 65-year-old trails, through 2 acres of trails, forest, and open areas for ball throwing and chasing sticks on 8 or 9 terraces. Starting with your choice of 2 entrance paths on the far right and left over a bluff that winds around, to The Landing Pad, through other trails forming circles to run around on and play. At the very bottom, the trails lead to a creek, on the left. The property is partially fenced and has natural barriers. It is bounded by a fence at the top, a fence on one L-shaped side, and a cliff to the creek on the other. The steep hill above the creek and dense brush provide a natural boundary, except for the most adventuresome dogs and their physically fit friends. Bring more than one dog, if possible, because they love to chase each other around the switchback trails. This forest was clear-cut between 65 to 100 years ago and not replanted. So we replanted our forest with 600+ trees. The ground is wood chips, sand, and Pacific Northwest duff with 160ft tall Hemlock, Douglas Fir, Alder, Big Leaf Maple trees, ferns, and native bushes with views of a 20-acre privately owned forested wetland. We prepared it as a Sniffspot for dogs. The lower part that connects to the creek area is not fenced. Rarely seen are animals in the forest, occasional wild rabbits, moles, squirrels, mountain beavers, mice, raccoons, shrews, voles, and weasels. Many birds are here, starlings, chickadees, woodpeckers, hawks, and American Bald Eagles. There are moles thus mole holes because it is a delightfully rugged private area so you must be careful where you step until you get used to the signs of moles and Mountain beaver underground trails crossing the paths, especially along Secret Lane, Lover's Lane, and Hidden Lane. We spent 4+ years removing invasive bushes, cutting down dead trees, and creating places for you to pause, sit, and enjoy your dogs in this natural rainforest 1 mile from the South Sound. When you park you can close the entry gate at the top. Garbage is available on the way out under the Big Leaf Maple tree at the driveway in the large green bin marked "Garbage". The Southeast corner of this Sniffspot where the creek is down a steep embankment, also is part of the property, but descending the steep area is not advisable unless you are fit and feel capable of the climb down and up. We feel a lot of delight here. We welcome you to enjoy it! We continue to work with Mayor Jim Ferrell and his Code Compliance team on the problem regarding the trash strewn on the owner/developer's land comprising most of Lakota Creek Basin. The landowner has set the clean-up start date the week of February 19, 2024 (hasn't started as of 2/27/24). Hope you can visit and enjoy it soon! 2 Starbucks less than 5 minutes away in either direction (bathrooms available there). If your dog is reactive and you want to, you may wish keep your pup leashed until you are safely at the top of the path. When departing, on either side of the trails, at the top you can pause to leash your dog if you wish. The Sniffspot trails do not interact with the house area.

New: disinfecting wipes and spray to protect your dogs' health amidst news of a contagious illness. Each visitor can disinfect and refill the provided water bowl or bring their own. Beautiful fenced tall-grass pasture with some woods at the lower end. 1.5 acres. If desired, you can drive right into the pasture and secure the gate behind you before letting your dog(s) loose. There is a mix of tall grass, shorter grass, and the lower "riparian"/woodsy area (mostly alder trees), which has a seasonal creek that runs in winter and is dry in summer. Your dog may find the scent of deer where they've bedded down at night, though it's unlikely that any will be present for your visit. You will see that I've planted and protected some fruit trees and native plants here and there. A sheltered area allows you to sit in the shade or out of the rain, and that's where you'll also find most amenities, such as toys and water. There are two driveways onto the property. You want the north one with the sign "Ericksen." After driving up that driveway, you'll see a "sniffspot" sign on the gate into the pasture. Please do not enter the farmhouse yard. The residents of the farmhouse are not the sniffspot hosts. For any questions, issues, or suggestions about how I can improve this spot, please drop me a message or call me, Annika, at 253-346-5863. New: accepting donations for COMPOST, like leaves, lawn clippings, pumpkins, newspaper, fruit/veg peels, coffee grounds, annual plants including tomatoes, used potting soil, tree trimmings, etc. You'll see the compost receptacle as you come up the driveway.
