5510 stars for this beautiful spot, great trails!
55Always a great time at The Huckle! We seriously love this spot, our pups even tried out the trampoline this time! This was our second visit and we ordered eggs which were very tasty! Can’t wait for our third adventure here!
55Great property with a big sloping lawn for throwing a ball plus short trails connected by steps for some wandering fun. Feels fairly secluded among the trees. Calm and quiet.
35Beautiful property, lots to explore for my pup. Unfortunately the yard isn’t fenced off from the driveway & there were workers packing up to leave, which worried me my pup would get out when they opened the gate. Dogs barking inside the home distracted him. Also the neighbors 3 dogs barked at the fence causing my dog to anxiously run the fence-line trying to get to them. Just too many distractions for my dog, but might be great for others.
55Fun time for the pups as always!
55An absolutely beautiful property that tired all three of my pups out in the hour. Host was a sweetheart and very kind upon arrival. Already planning our next trip back!
55Beautiful space!
55This is our first Sniffspot experience. My dog had a great time and was definitely tired. We felt comfortable letting him roam and practicing his recall. Thank you for sharing your backyard with us.
55Okay this is definitely the gig harbor of sniffspots 😂 the landscaping is even better in person. Tons of stairwells and pathways with endless greenery for my dogs to pee and poop on and freeze dried chicken treats. Land is clean, well fenced and free of hazards. The grass area is so green, my one pup loved rolling down the hill. Water and poop bags are readily available throughout the property. We had an amazing time and we will definitely be back.
55Absolutely a wonderful place to enjoy with the pups.

Location

Description

2.1 acres of fully-fenced heaven. As a dog owner/lover, this provides a necessary peace of mind. Pull inside the gate, and let ‘em lose! Poop happens typically w/in first 10 mins; bags can be disposed in trash. Hose water available by front door, back patio, and chicken coop area. All areas are fair game once you are inside the gate. Once a stop on the Gig Harbor Garden Tour, this property boasts a variety of terrain to keep your pup(s) busy for hours. We are at the end of a private lane, and the back of the property abuts to 50 acres of DNR. Sightings of cattle, wild peacocks, deer, raccoons and grouse are common. Make yourself (and family) at home around the fire pit, small orchard, tree house, trampoline, flagstone paths and trails. Good shoes highly recommended. NOTE: Sniffspot is promoting their “Sniffpass”, and they have the box automatically checked to “Opt in” when you make a booking. This is out of my control. I do not want my guests to feel Sniffpass is necessary to book my spot. Please uncheck that box if you are not interested to avoid unnecessary “surprise” charges upon checkout (unless you want to subscribe, which is totally ok too!).

Cleanliness

98% of guests said this spot was as clean as expected during their visit.

Hazards

Flagstone paths can be slick this time of year. Use the steps where possible. The steps up top leading to the back patio/turf area can also be slick in the wet months. Use the handrail.

Host replied: Thank you Drew! I think I’ll cross-stitch this review onto a pillow! Let’s enjoy that green grass until summer takes it away. I planted clover this year to help make a more durable landscape, and bee-friendly. Let’s see how that “grows”!

A world-class Pacific Northwest natural rainforest adventure awaits you and your best friends on 66-year-old trails, through 2 acres of trails, forest, tall old growth trees, a creek, and open areas for ball throwing and chasing sticks on 9 terraces. Starting with your choice of 2 entrance paths on the far left and right over a bluff that winds around to The Landing Pad, through other trails forming circles to run around on and play. ('Yes, there are 2 paths you can go by'). At the very bottom, our Madhatter trail leads to a creek. The property is partially fenced and has natural barriers. It is bounded by a fence at the top, a fence on one L-shaped side, a cliff, and creek on the other. Bring more than one dog, if at all possible, because they LOVE to play 'Hide and Go Seek', and chase each other around in circles on the switchback trails, down the hill to the creek and back up the hill to the lodge. This tranquil forest was mostly clear-cut between 66 to 100 years ago then not replanted. So we replanted our 2-acre forest with 600+ trees. The ground is wood chips, sand, Pacific Northwest duff, with 160ft tall Hemlock, Douglas Fir, Alder, Big Leaf Maple trees, 1 Madrona, ferns, and native bushes with views of a 20-acre privately owned forested wetland. We prepared the yard as a Sniffspot for dogs. Rarely seen are animals in the forest - occasional wild rabbits, moles, squirrels, mountain beavers, raccoons, mice, shrews, voles, and weasels. Many birds are seen and heard here- thrush, grosbeaks, warblers, sparrows, starlings, chickadees, flycatchers, redstarts, vireos, tanager, pewees, orioles, woodpeckers - shorebirds, waterfowl, raptors, such as hawks, and American Bald Eagles. This is a rugged forested area so be careful of footing! watch for signs of moles and Mountain beaver underground trails crossing the paths, especially along Secret Lane, Lover's Lane, and Hidden Lane (signs to be added soon). Do wear boots if you plan to access the creek. We spent 4+ years removing invasive bushes, cutting down dead trees, and creating places for you to run, walk, play, pause, sit, and enjoy your dogs in this natural rainforest, one mile from the South Sound. When you park you can close the entry gate at the top. We feel a lot of delight here. We welcome you to enjoy it now! 2 Starbucks are less than 5 minutes away in either direction (bathrooms are available there). You can't get lost, just keep going up if you are unsure. When it is raining and for water dogs, bring a towel to dry off pups' paws. There is water to wash dogs down near the creek. Actually there are water hydrants in most areas. If your dog is reactive and you want to, you may keep your pup leashed the 20 ft from your vehicle to the top of either trailhead. When leaving via either trail at the top you can easily pause to leash your dog if you wish. PS. If your dog doesn't want to leave, contact me and I'll ring the Magic Chuck Waggin' Triangle, and your dog will come. No worries! Toss garbage away at the top driveway as you exit in the large gray bin marked "Garbage".

Pepper's Pasture in Gig Harbor

Beautiful sloped pasture with some woods at the lower end. 1.5 acres. If desired, you can drive right into the pasture and secure the gate behind you before letting your dog(s) loose. It changes by the season. In summer, the grass grows tall and you can enjoy the shade of alders in the lower portion. A seasonal creek runs through it in winter and spring. Your dog may find the scent of deer where they've bedded down at night, though it's unlikely that any will be present for your visit. You will see that I've planted and protected some fruit trees and native plants here and there. A sheltered area allows you to sit in the shade or out of the rain, and that's where you'll also find most amenities, such as toys and water. There are two driveways onto the property. You want the north one with the sign "Ericksen." After driving up that driveway, you'll see a "sniffspot" sign on the gate into the pasture. Please do not enter the farmhouse yard. The residents of the farmhouse are not the sniffspot hosts. For any questions, issues, or suggestions about how I can improve this spot, please drop me a message or call me, Annika, at 253-346-5863. New: accepting donations for COMPOST, like leaves, lawn clippings, pumpkins, newspaper, fruit/veg peels, coffee grounds, annual plants including tomatoes, used potting soil, tree trimmings, etc. You'll see the compost receptacle as you come up the driveway.
