Welcome to Humphrey’s Hangout: a private, low-pressure yard in Palatine built for dogs who need room to sniff, stretch, play, and decompress without the chaos of a public dog park. This spot is best for solo dogs, small packs, puppies, nervous dogs, city/suburban dogs who need a reset, and owners who want a calmer off-leash option. Book the space for fetch, training practice, decompression time, puppy confidence-building, or a quiet sniff session. The yard is private during your booking. Please leash dogs when entering and exiting, clean up after your visit, and leave the space as you found it. Water, seating, trash access, and basic dog-friendly setup are available where noted in the listing. This is the first version of Humphrey’s Hangout, so feedback is welcome as we keep improving the space for repeat guests.

Take a dip in the creek! Beautiful secluded acreage with mature trees

Beautiful secluded property with a creek running through it. The backyard is about 1 acre with a big open field surrounded by large mature trees and a creek bordering the back side. Dogs must be trained not to run off as we do not have a fence. Old fence posts show the property lines. You can to take a dip in the creek with your dog to cool off on hot days. The water does flow so I wouldn't recommend it for really small dogs. The water is fairly shallow but can get high and flow fast after heavy rain. You will have to walk down a small hill to enter the creek. The weeds get high by the water but I have made 2 separate paths to enter the creek. Entering the creek is at your own risk. The creek is on the property line so the land across the creek is not part of the property so please do not go across the creek. If you do plan on going in the creek I recommend water shoes and a towel, it can get muddy by the water. And it can also get buggy, so you might want to bring bug spray as well. Feel free to move any of the chairs from the firepit to anywhere around the yard but put back when finished. Please clean up after your pup, garbage can is the green one by the garage. You can park on the left side of driveway by the RV and enter on the left side of the garage.

Reservation only - just you and your dog. 🐾 For the Dogs: I have a feeling you're going to love this backyard. It's a full acre of fenced-in freedom, hidden behind the houses like a secret playground. There's plenty of open space for epic zoomies, mature trees that are almost certainly hiding squirrels, and even a special corner where digging is enthusiastically encouraged. If you visit after a good rain, you might discover a muddy little spot that's perfect for rolling around and getting dirty (you're welcome.) No rain? No problem. Cool off in the doggy splash pad instead. Of course, you'll also find plenty of other toys waiting for you, like tennis balls, frisbees, and those squeaky toys you love to throw into the air (you know the ones). For the Humans: While your pup burns off some energy, you can enjoy a surprisingly peaceful and serene backyard, especially considering it's only a half block off Main Street in downtown Antioch. In the middle of the yard you'll find our old chicken house. It retired from raising chickens years ago and really just sits there looking cute. But it does have a little patio with chairs, a basket of dog toys, and a water spigot with fresh water for thirsty pups. 🌳 The Property: Our property is located just north of Sequoit Creek Park and the Antioch Public Library, only a half block off Main Street. The backyard is fully fenced and has convenient, direct access from the driveway. Guests have two dedicated parking spaces in the large circular driveway, set well away from the house. The yard is usually quiet and peaceful. Occasionally, the neighbors' two friendly dogs may be outside. The yard is well lit for night trips!
