HOST REPORTS

Sometimes

**Farm and Neighboring Dogs** Farmer Jen’s dogs will remain inside the house during your visit unless a supervised introduction has been arranged in advance. Although every precaution will be taken, there is a small possibility that a farm dog could accidentally get outside while trying to greet a new friend. Both neighboring properties, located at least 400 feet away and separated by multiple barriers, also have dogs. One neighbor’s friendly golden Lab occasionally visits the farm, although this is rare and her owner retrieves her promptly. You are unlikely to encounter or hear neighboring dogs, but their presence cannot be ruled out. Please remain attentive and notify Farmer Jen immediately if you see an unfamiliar or unsupervised dog.

HOST REPORTS

Sometimes

**Farm Animals and Visiting Dogs** Grow Joy Farm is a working farm that is home to Angus cattle, miniature Herefords, cows, calves, steers, bulls, a dairy cow, friendly emus, guard geese, turkeys, chickens, bunnies, as well as new arrivals, and farm dogs. Animals may be moved between pastures, so their locations can change from day to day. Farmer Jen will take reasonable precautions to keep visitors, dogs, and farm animals safely separated when needed. However, complete separation cannot be guaranteed. Livestock, farm dogs, neighboring dogs, wildlife, or other animals may appear unexpectedly. Even calm animals can react unpredictably when startled, approached, or chased. Visiting dogs may behave differently around unfamiliar animals, sights, sounds, and smells. They may become excited, anxious, defensive, or difficult to control. Owners must supervise their dogs at all times, follow Farmer Jen’s instructions, respect gates and restricted areas, and use a leash whenever requested or when there is any uncertainty. Dogs must never chase, approach, harass, or injure livestock or other animals. Depending on current farm conditions and your dog’s behavior, access to certain areas may be limited. The safety of visiting people, dogs, and every resident animal is the farm’s highest priority.

Description

Grow Joy Farm is a 30 acre working farm practicing rotational grazing meaning some of our pastures are left empty throughout the year. Keep in mind because this is a working farm, there are cows, chickens, geese, emus, and possibly other animals in various locations. We would love to have all dogs enjoy this beautiful space, but it is required to have a meet-and-greet visit before enjoying a fully private experience. If this will be your first time, call me in advance so that I can greet you before bringing dog out of car. That way I can discuss the spaces around the farm. Then we can bring your leashed dog out to see how they respond to this environment. If need be the fenced area is always a good spot. Reminder, this is a working from, there is mud and other places a city dog would love to roll in!! There is a hose for a nice rinse, on site if needed. When I discovered Sniffspot, I knew there would be some lucky pups that would enjoy using this revolving space, I know our dogs do!! Some of the pastures have what I would call dog safe fencing. While others, dogs would likely be able to get out of the fence, have a quick lesson of electric fences, or under the gates. The pond can be rented as well, but it is not fenced at all, and is a wetland, so I can't promise cleanliness. Depending on the season you might find blueberries, black raspberries, or blackberries. Give me a call if you have any questions, or would like to reserve a particular location.

Hazards

HOST NOTE

**Working Farm Safety Notice** Grow Joy Farm is an active working farm with hazards that may be known, hidden, unpredictable, or impossible to list completely. Visitors are responsible for supervising their dogs, remaining alert, following Farmer Jen’s directions, and using good judgment at all times. Possible hazards include uneven or slippery ground; holes hidden by grass; mud; manure; ponds and standing water; rocks; fallen branches; thorns from blackberries, raspberries, and wild roses; poisonous or irritating plants; insects, ticks, snakes, and wildlife; electric or barbed fencing; gates; farm equipment; vehicles; tools; changing weather; and encounters with other dogs or animals. Dogs may also roll in unpleasant substances, drink unsafe water, eat harmful materials, chase wildlife, escape, or behave differently than expected. The farm is home to Angus cattle, miniature Herefords, calves, steers, cows, and bulls. Even animals that appear calm can react suddenly and may cause serious injury or death. Bulls must never be trusted or approached. Guests and dogs are permitted only in pastures not currently occupied by cattle unless Farmer Jen gives specific instructions otherwise. Never enter an occupied pasture, approach livestock, open a gate, cross a fence, or enter a restricted area without permission. Farm surroundings may make dogs excited, fearful, anxious, territorial, or difficult to control—even dogs that are normally calm and obedient. For this reason, freedom on the farm is expanded gradually and only when both the owner and Farmer Jen agree it is safe. Dogs may be required to remain leashed throughout the visit and all the visits that you will want to come and enjoy. Keeping your dog on a leash is always a responsible choice and will not lessen their farm adventure. Farm conditions change daily. Stay aware of your dog, livestock, other visitors, fencing, weather, terrain, and your surroundings. Immediately report unsafe conditions, injuries, escapes, or concerning behavior to Farmer Jen. The safety of every human visitor, canine guest, and resident farm animal is our highest priority.

Relax with your dog while enjoying sparkling cider, elegant seating, a rose or fresh farm flowers, and professional digital photos to preserve the evening. Two wine glasses are provided for use and may be purchased as keepsakes. First-time guests should arrive 20 minutes early for a brief welcome and guidance on whether your dog should remain leashed.

Add a berry-picking adventure to your dog’s farm visit! Black raspberries ripen first in June or July, followed by blueberries and blackberries. Call ahead to confirm what’s in season and available. Depending on the harvest, you may fill a quart-sized container to take home—and sampling a few delicious berries while you pick is part of the fun!

Make your dog’s farm day even more rewarding! Bring home one pound of pasture-raised Angus ground beef to take home after your visit. While you’re at Grow Joy Farm, browse additional available cuts of beef, forest and pasture raised pork, and pasture raised chicken. Selection and quantities may vary, so ask Farmer Jen what’s fresh and ready to purchase.

Spring-Fed Farm Pond10 credits

Let your pup splash, swim, and fetch in our fresh, spring-fed farm pond—reserved for dogs, not cows! A shallow entry makes getting in and out easy, but expect natural mud and wetland conditions. A hose is available for a quick rinse afterward. The pond area is not fenced, and use is at your own risk. Please be honest about your dog’s behavior so Farmer Jen can protect all guests and resident animals on this working farm.

Quiet Pasture & Secluded Wildlife Area

This peaceful, private pasture is enclosed with electric cattle fencing, which may not safely contain your dog. Unless you are completely confident in your dog’s recall and response to unfamiliar sights and sounds, please keep them leashed while walking or observing wildlife. Grow Joy Farm neighbors a hunting club, so gunfire from its distant firing range may occasionally be heard and can sound closer than it is. Dogs sensitive to loud noises should remain securely leashed. Despite the occasional sound, this pasture is often an excellent place to relax and watch wildlife.

We in the process of over seeding the field to make the grass more lush this spring. We have added a few surprises down in the woods to make it more fun for our guests and their fur babies. There is an open lean-to where there are dog toys like frisbees and balls availble. There is also be a cute backdrop as a photo op for the dogs.

Winter conditions as of 2/5/26: about a foot of snow, ground is frozen, no mud, wear boots, dress warm, your dog will love it! Some paths were plowed to knock down the snow height, path in woods plowed. Our property sits 1200+ feet off of the main road and is a total of 28 acres. There are neighboring properties that are 50 acres and 80 acres so no close homes in most directions. We are located approximately 1 mile from West Branch State Park. The property has a clean swimming pond, a walkable forest area with some established trails that are currently covered with leaves. We are a working farm with about 8 acres of crops. There is a large 3 acre wheat field in the front great for ball throwing. The remaining non crop acres are walking paths with some cut grass and yard. We do not have any livestock but our neighbors have cows. There is a secure fence on one side of our property that keeps the cows in their pasture. They’ve never visited us! Neighboring properties are also farms with over 100 acres of open land, woods and crops surrounding our property with no main or visible roads. You can see houses on one side of the property and that’s where the cows live! They have dogs but they’ve never visited us. We do have 2 well behaved German Shorthaired Pointers named River and Remmy who run freely on the property. However we will keep them inside when guests use the property. We have a bench to sit on in a shaded area around the pond for relaxing. The woods are beautiful to walk about as well. There is a large rock in the woods to take a rest on with an amazing ravine creek view. Our property is large and not fenced so dogs with impeccable recall should enjoy the freedom to play, run, swim, sniff and explore. Leashed walks are also welcome. Long leads can also be used. Because we are so far off of any main roads you will feel comfortable here! Your pups are welcome to swim in the pond during your visit. During recent rains our property stays mainly dry and the woods are relatively dry as well as there are many leaves covering the ground. In the winter when the ground is frozen it’s a beautiful walk.
