Description

**temporarily closed due to mud and necessary yard repair.** Welcome Dog Lovers! We've been in rescue our whole adult lives and have hosted a revolving door of fosters. We now have a baby, so it's not the right time for us to have a dog or foster, but our 1/2 acre fully fenced dog-friendly yard is ready to host YOUR special furry friend(s). We live a short, straight-shot drive from Chicago and are butt-up against the beautiful Salt Creek (and all the wild life that also calls the creek "home" - bunnies, squirrels, groundhogs, birds, garden snakes (usually only in May), etc.). The head of Salt Creek Trail is located just a block away on Thomas Street, so feel free to explore the creek/trail after your yard time. It leads all the way to Villa Park, where you can catch the Prairie Path / Great Western Trail. You'll pass by MORE Brewing Company as well as outdoor bar and food trucks Fuel and Creme (ice cream). Make a day of it! Please note that even though the yard IS fully fenced, it is comprised of a variety of sizes shapes ranging from 6 feet privacy, raw iron, to 4 foot chain-link, barn wood with chicken wire between the wood gaps so it’s not wide open. You know your dog's "flight risk" better than anyone, so please make smart decisions when booking our yard. Yes, the playset is open for use, so bring your human kids for some extra fun! (not responsible for any injuries incurred on playset). And finally, we welcome GOTCHA DAY PARTIES. Celebrate with your dog and dog friends in our yard. Reach out with any questions! Plan on coming again after your first trip? Message me and I will request a discount code for you to get $5 off. We love repeat visitors. Ps: trash is the all-green bin with same color lid.

Hazards

Dogs with an impressive vertical leap are likely able to clear the back fence—see photo for reference. One foster dog we had was fixated on chasing a rabbit and barreled through the wire to get it. You know your dog's prey drive and jumping capabilities better than anyone. Choose our yard based on that. Finally, when it has rained, the yard closest to the creek will be soggy/muddy. All part of the fun! Suffice to say, most dogs just zoomie, romp, and have a BLAST!

It was really muddy so I chose not to go at the last minute. Emily was great about it and even offered a refund.

So fun! The owner was so helpful, she noted that with the warm temps and the previous snow it would be muddy and offered a refund if I were to cancel which was SO thoughtful. We love the mud so we still went and had so much fun. What a great time

Host replied: This warms my heart! No pun intended :)

This Sniffspot was a great place for our dogs to run and have fun. Chairs, toys, and a water bowl was provided. We appreciated the towels that were left out to wipe their muddy paws!

Host replied: Thanks so much! Come romp anytime

A beautiful snowy day. The driveway and walkway were cleared of snow. Fun play time in the snow.

Great spot! Short drive from the city and quick replies to questions.

Host replied: Thanks so much! I’m glad you found it a lovely getaway from The city

Had a good time with my dogs today! Coco didn’t want to leave and we had to chase him to get him to put on his leash LOL. I would recommend bringing your own toys IF your dogs are picky!

Host replied: Haha silly coco! Hope to see you again soon :)

This was our first Sniff Spot experience and it was AMAZING! Not only is this location perfect, the host Emily is wonderful! She communicated with me before, during , and after our visit via chat on the app and it made me feel so comfortable visiting her spot. Access is so easy. Quiet neighborhood, plenty of street parking , easy in and out of the yard. My dog and his friend we brought had a blast. It’s just the right size , and lots of spots to sniff. Clean. Well kept. Secure. Dogs got a little muddy but WORTH IT. Highly highly recommend this spot. Worth the drive from the city for sure. We will definitely be back ! Thank you Emily !

Host replied: I am so glad you had a fun time! With the nice weather today, we had a lot of guests and I could see the yard getting a little muddy toward the end of the day. But I know they had a blast and it was fun watching them. I can’t wait to host you again!!

Meet your host

I have been in dog rescue my whole adult life. While we are taking a break from fostering or adopting due to having a nine month old baby, we look forward to hosting your dog baby!
