HOST REPORTS

We have sheep and horses on the property. They are safely fenced in from the Sniffspot areas but can be seen and sometimes heard. They are accustomed to visitors and dogs so they basically ignore you and the dogs even if they are barking. About the sheep. We have two Hampshire, they are the big white ones with black faces and carry around a lot of wool. The one with the small tuft of wool on her forehead is Keno. The one with a small tuft of wool is Cocktails. Both were born here on the farm and named by my brother who lived in the Vegas area at that time. They arrived on his birthday thus Keno and Cocktails :-) The third sheep can often be mistaken for a goat however she is a Katahdin. This breed does not grow wool but hair which they shed naturally in the summer. She is our matriarch and grandmother of the group and her name is Eskarina. She is named after a character in a Terry Pratchet novel. Her name means "to give up what you want so others can get what they need." She is a wonderful soul and has been a great help on our farm. Our resident horses are Enzo, the big dark bay, and HG the grey Arabian. Enzo is 19 and is Thoroughbred/Percheron cross. We trained together in a riding discipline called Dressage. It is like dancing with a horse and an amazing training practice. We still ride regularly although we do not show any longer. HG, short for Haida Gai, the Native tribe in Canada, is 20 and a full bred Arabian. HG has special dietary needs so you will see him in a space with very little to no grass. Don't fret though, he has several places where he can grab a mouth full of Alfalfa or Teff Hay while he wonders around his space. HG and his person still enjoy riding and the forest (jungle) is his favorite place to ride. Thankfully we have many options for riding in areas with plenty of trees. South of the Sniffspot you will see there is about 400 acres of Filbert trees. These were planted about 4 years ago. Interesting point - Filbert is not actually a tree but a bush cut to grow like a tree. These nuts are harvested in the early Fall. To the North of the Sniffspot is Jones Farm. This is hundreds of acres of farm that grows, strawberries, cherries and filberts as well. They have a fun store opened during the summer where you can find fresh fruit, veggies and of course ice cream. Behind the Sniffspot is a building recently purchased by the Salem/Keizer school district to provide students with special needs a safe place to learn.

Description

The outdoor space is available during daylight hours. Indoor space is available as an add-on and recommended for evening visits or during inclement weather. This is a 5-acre farm, with 1 full acre dedicated to the sniff spot. The pastures are cross-fenced, allowing for room to explore but not too far. An indoor riding arena is available as an add-on. It is fully enclosed on three sides, with the 4th wall solid up to 5 feet keeping the wind and weather out and the dogs safe and fully enclosed during playtime. It is well-lit for evening use. Horses offer additional entertainment but are always a safe distance with a large space (enough to drive a large truck through) between fence lines. The animals are not reactive to the dogs even when barking at them. The farm animals don't respond to the dogs, often the dogs move on to exploring the space. We have some simple agility items in the space along with balls and other toys to help entertain both you and your dogs. As a guest, you have access to: * Fully Fenced Acre of play space for off-leash adventures * Water - Lift the blue handle to start the flow of water * Poop baggies * White garbage can * Dog towels, clean ones in the clear container, and dirty ones go into the grey tote. We ask you to use 1 towel per visit if possible. * Porta Potty * Shelter with chairs and a small table you can put anywhere in the field during your visit we just ask that you put them back when you are done. * During the summer days we include a doggie kiddie pool. Double them up when you use them so they are easier to empty and less likely to break. Please dump the pool and return it to the corner when you are finished. IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION: This is a field that has uneven ground including mole and gopher holes. Please watch your step. Please keep within the Sniffspot area. If you happen to throw a ball over a fence just message me and I can retrieve it for you. It is important to stay outside of areas marked private property. Those gates also have extra locks, but we want to be sure everyone stays safe. USE OF INDOOR ARENA: During harsh weather (over 95 degrees or winter would be those days of wind and heavy rain) the indoor arena may be an option. YOU MUST MESSAGE me before the visit to be sure it is ready for you. That space is in an area marked private property. Access is granted when the indoor space is reserved as an add on. We are excited to have you come and share this special place with us.o

Cleanliness

Hazards

HOST NOTE

The field does have uneven ground and holes from underground critters and potential dog digging so please be cautious.

Extras

Animal Communication45 credits

Animal communication, often called "intuitive" or "telepathic" communication, is a way to connect with animals on an energetic level beyond observing their physical behaviors. Many people find that tuning into an animal’s thoughts, feelings, or energy strengthens their bond, creates deeper understanding, and can sometimes reveal underlying needs or emotions. www.4pettalks.com The session will begin 15 minutes after you and your pet(s) arrive.

Elderberry Syrup15 credits

Elderberry syrup is a popular natural remedy often used to support immune health, especially during cold and flu season. Made from the berries of the elder tree (Sambucus nigra) grown on our farm, elderberry syrup is rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and other compounds believed to help boost immunity and potentially shorten the duration of colds and flu

Indoor Space5 credits

This provides access to the enclosed, well lit, space with sandy loam footing. You can alternate between the outdoor and indoor space with this option.

Other Animals & Activity: • No other dogs are present on the property. • Two cats may be visible; please supervise dogs that chase cats. • The property is mostly quiet; occasional outdoor activity from the homeowner may occur. • Occasional machinery or vehicle noise may be heard from surrounding areas. Terrain: This is a natural field environment. Terrain may include: • Uneven ground • Natural holes or divots • Sloped areas • Tall grass and seasonal vegetation • Mud depending on weather • Rocks, roots, and other natural features • Wildlife and insects Guests should wear appropriate footwear and supervise dogs at all times. Farm Equipment: Farm equipment may be present on the property. Please stay off all equipment. Booking & Access: Access is limited to your booked time only. No early arrivals or extended stays. Creek Access: Abernathy Creek runs along part of the property and may be accessible to dogs throughout the pasture. Please note: • Creek banks may be steep or uneven • Owner access to the creek may be limited in certain areas • Water depth and flow vary depending on season and rainfall Creek access is generally easier for dogs; human access may be difficult.
