Hazards

Horses are on the property in pastures with areas of fence that most dogs can crawl under. This is an ACTIVE HORSE FARM so there is manure in the pastures, if your dog goes under the fence they may get in it. There is no horse manure in the 2 acre field in the far back left corner. This field is fenced on 3 sides and lined with woods on the other however the entire property is completely fenced in. Watch for uneven ground, potential mud, fallen branches and use caution when walking in wooded areas. There are long grassy areas as well as shorter grassy areas to play in. Deer, rabbits, birds, and squirrels can often be seen in the open field. We recommend that you use a bug spray prior to coming and check your dog and yourself for ticks before you leave.

Dogs paradise! What an amazing place to spend time with your dogs. I have 2 Goldendoodles that lived their best life today. They ran, played chase, sniffed new smells and got to meet the horses. We started off in the smaller fenced in area at first. This is PERFECT for small dogs too. Then spent the rest of our time in the field. It was such a lovely experience. Clean, comfortable and safe.

This was so fun for my dog. She absolutely loved the horses and enjoyed just being a dog. We will definitely be back.

yo, peeps this place was super groovy for my little city dog to come and be her true self if only for an hour. it's a little slice of paradise, I'll tell you what. I didn't see any rubbish bins around. I packed out my dogs poop bag instead. Just food for thought. Thanks for a great day!

Great place for some field walking with my pack - especially my older dog. Horses are right there, so to be respectful of the owner, I’d only bring dogs with good recalls or ones that will ignore the horses.

Lovely property with plenty of different areas to choose from to let my pup roam. Lots of good sniffs, but make sure to wear shoes you don't mind getting dirty as the areas are mostly clay and also have livestock droppings when you get further from the entrances (but around the gates was pretty clear). Fencing is secure enough for large dogs but would make sure your dog respects boundaries or has good recall if they're <30lbs as they could squeeze through the fence if they wanted. Definitely would come back if I was in the area again!

Great spot! Plenty of room to run and play! Our dog loved meeting the horses, too!

  • Tayler H., Mar 6, 2023

This sniff spot was incredible! The 3 available sniffing areas were as described. Definitely recommend reading the descriptions of each sniff location and choosing the one that best suits your dog, though! As warned, the pastures fencing to the left of the entrance allowed my friends 50lb dog to slip through. The 2 acre grassy area was awesome, but beware of your dog wanting to get in with the horses! While I caution these things, it has nothing to do with the quality of the spot OR the description provided, which clearly outlines these potential risks! There is also a 3rd smaller area available that is fully dog proof. Fully recommend this spot!

Host replied: Thank you so much for your honest and detailed review! This is what really helps Sniffers and Hosts as well! We try to be as honest as possible with our description of each of our 3 areas so hopefully we have at least 1 that will work for our guests. You guys are welcome back anytime!

Want to see your dog really get up to speed? Want to let them chase a squirrel without having to worry about traffic? Swim and wade in a creek? Come see us at Poplar Creek Flower Farm! We have 40 acres we want to share with you. 10 acres are pastures/grass which we keep mowed about every 3 weeks and the rest are woods! We have about 2 1/2 miles of trails to walk, bike or run. We are just minutes away from Pilot Mountain State Park and Highway 52, a perfect spot to stop if you're passing through. Out buildings are off limits to everyone. If it is windy, please be extra mindful in the woods- trees and branches do fall! We try to keep up with any big downed trees and try to keep trails clear. If you notice something that you feel needs our attention, please leave me a message and we will do our best! Please note that the map to the property is in the black box. The pond is not on our property, but the creeks are! It's spring and the bugs and snakes are out. Please ensure you and your dog protect against ticks/bugs. We have seen a snake a few times at the bottom of the swimming hole. I suggest standing at the top before going down the stairs, to see if one is there. But as much as I'm there, I've only seen it once, and one guest let me know she saw it too. We hope you come and enjoy some off leash time with your 4 legged best friend(s) as you explore the pastures, wooded trails and creek!
