Description

Welcome to Humphrey’s Hangout: a private, low-pressure yard in Palatine built for dogs who need room to sniff, stretch, play, and decompress without the chaos of a public dog park. This spot is best for solo dogs, small packs, puppies, nervous dogs, city/suburban dogs who need a reset, and owners who want a calmer off-leash option. Book the space for fetch, training practice, decompression time, puppy confidence-building, or a quiet sniff session. The yard is private during your booking. Please leash dogs when entering and exiting, clean up after your visit, and leave the space as you found it. Water, seating, trash access, and basic dog-friendly setup are available where noted in the listing. This is the first version of Humphrey’s Hangout, so feedback is welcome as we keep improving the space for repeat guests.

We're Chandler & Zach. We built this space around a simple idea: dogs do not need more noise. They need more freedom. Most dogs would choose a good sniff, open space, and time to explore over a crowded dog park every day of the week. Whether you are working on training, exercising a high-energy dog, managing reactivity, or simply giving your pup a better adventure, this spot is here for that. We care about creating things that are thoughtful, dependable, and genuinely useful. That means keeping the space clean, maintaining it well, and making it easy to show up, enjoy your time, and head home with a happy, tired dog. Our Boston Terriers, Frankie June and Humphrey Roo, have taught us that some of the best moments happen when you slow down and let a dog follow their nose. This space is built for those moments. The goal is simple: a safe, enjoyable place where dogs can explore, people can relax, and everyone leaves a little better than they arrived. Welcome, and happy sniffing. 🐾

Hi, my name is Bob and I grew up here with many different dogs over the years. They all loved to run, play and explore the yard as much as I did. I decided to name my spot for my mother, who always brought me to all the pet shops around and the reason for my love of animals. I sincerely hope that you and your dogs will also have as much fun running, playing and exploring the yard as we did!

This back yard is fully fenced with driveway guest parking. There is a mix of both sun and shade, and a hose for water. The grass is treated for bugs in the spring and kept short through the summer. No people or dog distractions at my property, so the place is all yours to wander. I absolutely love making this space comfortable for dogs & owners to stretch their legs in peace. (FYI guests. We might have to block out Winter and Spring days after rain. Our yard becomes a muddy mess). Let your pooch(es) romp away in our spacious fenced-in backyard. Our late boxer loved it. Enjoy a shady view from comfortable chairs on our deck. We love litter reunions! You're welcome to BYOB and appetizers.
