Welcome to The Packground: a private, low-pressure yard in Palatine built for dogs who need room to sniff, stretch, play, and decompress without the chaos of a public dog park. This spot is best for solo dogs, small packs, puppies, nervous dogs, city/suburban dogs who need a reset, and owners who want a calmer off-leash option. Book the space for fetch, training practice, decompression time, puppy confidence-building, or a quiet sniff session. The yard is private during your booking. Please leash dogs when entering and exiting, clean up after your visit, and leave the space as you found it. Water, seating, trash access, and basic dog-friendly setup are available where noted in the listing. This is the first version of The Packground, so feedback is welcome as we keep improving the space for repeat guests.

Please leash dogs when entering and exiting the property. Bookings are private. Please arrive and leave within your reserved time window. Please clean up after your dog and place waste in the designated trash area. Dogs must be supervised at all times. Do not leave dogs unattended. Please do not allow excessive barking, digging, fence climbing, or destructive behavior. All dogs must be up to date on required vaccinations and under the handler’s control. No smoking, alcohol, parties, or unrelated guests. Please keep gates closed and leave the space as you found it. If anything is damaged, unsafe, or unclear, please message us right away.

Most dogs would choose a good sniff, open space, and time to explore over a crowded dog park every day of the week. Whether you are working on training, exercising a high-energy dog, managing reactivity, or simply giving your pup a better adventure, this spot is here for that. We care about creating things that are thoughtful, dependable, and genuinely useful. That means keeping the space clean, maintaining it well, and making it easy to show up, enjoy your time, and head home with a happy, tired dog. Our Boston Terriers, Frankie June and Humphrey Roo, have taught us that some of the best moments happen when you slow down and let a dog follow their nose. This space is built for those moments. The goal is simple: a safe, enjoyable place where dogs can explore, people can relax, and everyone leaves a little better than they arrived. Welcome, and happy sniffing. 🐾

The Red Door Salt Creek Sanctuary - Fully Fenced 1/2 Acre

Fall/Winter update: the yard is DARK after 5pm. Hose is off for winterization, so please bring water. Our 1/2 acre fully fenced dog-friendly yard is here to host your special furry friends. We live a short, straight-shot drive from Chicago and are butt-up against the beautiful Salt Creek (and all the wild life that also calls the creek "home" - bunnies, squirrels, groundhogs, birds, garden snakes (harmless, but present in May), etc.). The head of Salt Creek Trail is located just a block away on Thomas Street, so feel free to explore the creek/trail after your yard time. It leads all the way to Villa Park, where you can catch the Prairie Path / Great Western Trail. You'll pass by MORE Brewing Company as well as outdoor bar and food trucks Fuel and Creme (ice cream). Make a day of it! Please note that even though the yard IS fully fenced, it is comprised of a variety of sizes shapes ranging from 6 feet privacy, raw iron, to 4 foot chain-link, barn wood with chicken wire between the wood gaps. You know your dog's "flight risk" better than anyone, so please make smart decisions when booking our yard. Dispose of poop bags in the BLUE TOP bin (green is recycle). Finally, note that we can only host 2 dogs at a time due to wear and tear on the yard. Have fun!
