Description

Come rain or shine, and play or train, in or out. We have covered parking for you, 800 square feet of covered, protected, and padded play area in our pole barn, and 1200 square feet (0.3 acres) of fully fenced and shaded outdoor play connected to the barn. The SniffSpot is very private and removed from the house. All areas have lights so you can safely play late afternoons during the winter. Our secluded property is at the end of the road, yet close to town and just off the freeway. We provide toys for you to use while here, for large and small dogs, and for dogs with disabilities. Be sure to check out our Extras (all free). The SniffSpot gate is from the original Seattle Humane Society facility.

My boys had an awesome time as usual.. today is my American bully’s 3rd birthday, Bruce put up a Happy Birthday sign and some balloons. Ty that was amazing

Host replied: We're so glad you had a good time. Happy birthday again to your American Bully. What a cutie. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

A great little sniffspot. They had fun! A bit smaller that I expected somehow, but that's on me. Nicely kept and very clean.

What a great first Sniffspot experience! Quick & friendly communication, clear directions to the location, and all the pups had a great time. There was water and toys available when we arrived. We’ll be back. Thanks!

My fur babies really love this place. My one girl Delilah is a reactive dog. She only loves her dogs, so it's great having a place to take them. It's easy to get them to run and play, and easy out. I am handicap and the easy in and out is important to me. And my girl Delilah, loves to pick out the toys she wants to play with. She has a sister who is also her littermate, and they run with a toy between them, it's so cute to watch them. It's so nice to see them happy. Thank you so much for providing this place.

Host replied: We're glad our toy selection meets with their approval. 😁 Come back anytime.

This is our favorite Sniffspot to visit! You get a perfect mix of indoor/outdoor activity for your pups and all the amenities you could think of! There is a lot of room to run around. I have two dogs and we bring them and they get worn out in the hour. They have so much fun running around and getting toys from the toy bin that are always cleaned and sanitized! The owner is very nice and flexible! Always available to chat and to answer questions. This is a very accommodating and inviting place to have your pups run around and play! We always feel safe to have our pups here.

Host replied: Thanks for the review and the great pictures.

  • Katie S., Feb 5, 2024

A little smaller than what I was thinking. I have 3 larger dogs and still was able to run around. The host had clear directions in ad and in message to me. Allowed me to decide on meeting one another. Had toys, clean water, way to clean the paws, secure fencing, trash to put poop bags.

  • Chris R., Feb 4, 2024

Our dogs had a great time

  • Kimberlee K., Feb 1, 2024

Cannot say enough great things about this spot and the hosts! We were able to extend or stay today last minute to get out some extra zoomies and we couldn't be happier (or more tuckered out!) thanks to the gracious hosts at this gem!

  • Betsy P., Jan 29, 2024

Great space. Nice and secure with a nice option for an airlock system with an easily accessible second gate. They had toys for my dog the special needs (not that he was too excited about them, too excited to smell this new place. Haha) even a towel to give them a quick wipe down. We’ll be returning regularly.

The humans, Bruce and Valerie, and the dogs, Gracie and Harlow, welcome you to our SniffSpot. Our second one. We enjoy providing a safe place for all breeds to play and train. We have owned, fostered, and trained dogs for over a decade. We volunteer with the humane society and local rescues. Most recently we’re active with NW Canine Coalition, a group that provides videos and social media assistance to smaller rescues. Our pittie Gracie is also an AKC certified Therapy Dog Advanced. We visit retirement communities and community events. We also visit schools where we provide age-appropriate education to kids of all ages about dogs: safety around them, dog body language, breeds, teaching tricks, and more.

A world-class Pacific Northwest natural rainforest adventure awaits you and your best friends on 65-year-old trails, through 2 acres of trails, forest, and open areas for ball throwing. 8 or 9 terraces. Starting with your choice of 2 entrance paths on the far right and left over a bluff that winds around, to The Landing Pad, through other trails forming circles to run around on and play. At the very bottom, the trails lead to a creek, on the left. The property is partially fenced and has natural obstacles. It is bounded by a fence at the top, a fence on one L-shaped side, and a cliff to the creek on the other. The steep hill above the creek and dense brush provide a natural boundary, except for the most adventuresome dogs and their physically fit friends. Bring more than one dog, if possible, because they love to chase each other around the circles. This forest was clear-cut between 65 to 100 years ago and not replanted. So we replanted it with 600+ trees. The ground is wood chips, sand, and Pacific Northwest duff with 160ft tall Hemlock, Douglas Fir, Alder, Big Leaf Maple trees, ferns, and native bushes with views of a 20-acre privately owned forested wetland. We prepared it as a Sniffspot for dogs. The lower part that connects to the creek area is not fenced. Rarely seen are animals in the forest, occasional wild rabbits, moles, squirrels, mountain beavers, mice, raccoons, shrews, voles, and weasels. Many birds may be seen such as starlings, chickadees, woodpeckers, hawks, and American Bald Eagles. There are moles thus mole holes because it is a delightfully rugged private area so you must be careful where you step until you get used to the signs of moles and Mountain beaver underground trails crossing the paths. Especially along Secret Lane, Lover's Lane, and Hidden Lane. We spent 4+ years removing invasive bushes, cutting down dead trees, and creating places for you to pause, sit, and enjoy your dogs in this natural rainforest 1 mile from the South Sound. When you park you can close the entry gate at the top. Garbage is available on the way out under the Bigleaf Maple tree at the driveway in the large green bin marked "Garbage". The Southeast corner of this Sniffspot where the creek is down a steep embankment, also is part of the property, but descending the steep area is not advisable unless you are fit and feel capable of the climb down and up. We feel a lot of delight here. We welcome you to enjoy it! We continue to work with Mayor Jim Ferrell and his Code Compliance team on the problem regarding the trash strewn on the owner/developer's land comprising most of Lakota Creek Basin. The landowner has set the clean-up start date the week of February 19, 2024. 9The developer has a land plat proposal and variance before the city, so cleaning shows good intent even if it took 8 years.) Hope you can visit and enjoy it soon! 2 Starbucks less than 5 minutes away in either direction (bathrooms available there). If your dog is reactive and you want to, you may wish keep your pup leashed until you are safely at the top of the path. When departing, on either side of the trails, at the top you can pause to leash your dog if you wish. The Sniffspot trails do not interact with the house area.

New: disinfecting wipes and spray to protect your dogs' health amidst news of a contagious illness. Each visitor can disinfect and refill the provided water bowl or bring their own. Beautiful fenced tall-grass pasture with some woods at the lower end. 1.5 acres. If desired, you can drive right into the pasture and secure the gate behind you before letting your dog(s) loose. There is a mix of tall grass, shorter grass, and the lower "riparian"/woodsy area (mostly alder trees), which has a seasonal creek that runs in winter and is dry in summer. Your dog may find the scent of deer where they've bedded down at night, though it's unlikely that any will be present for your visit. You will see that I've planted and protected some fruit trees and native plants here and there. A sheltered area allows you to sit in the shade or out of the rain, and that's where you'll also find most amenities, such as toys and water. There are two driveways onto the property. You want the north one with the sign "Ericksen." After driving up that driveway, you'll see a "sniffspot" sign on the gate into the pasture. Please do not enter the farmhouse yard. The residents of the farmhouse are not the sniffspot hosts. For any questions, issues, or suggestions about how I can improve this spot, please drop me a message or call me, Annika, at 253-346-5863. New: accepting donations for COMPOST, like leaves, lawn clippings, pumpkins, newspaper, fruit/veg peels, coffee grounds, annual plants including tomatoes, used potting soil, tree trimmings, etc. You'll see the compost receptacle as you come up the driveway.
