Description

I have a large, mostly unused back yard that has the best energy with a dog running around it. There are a few trees and a firepit, but for the most part it’s a large open yard just waiting to be enjoyed by any age, size or energy level pup! The backyard has the most sun in the afternoons but the yard can be used any time of day or season as there is a pergola and outdoor lights!

HOST NOTE

Other than potential unknown things that could be dug up, there are no major hazards. If your dog is heavily focused on escaping, this might not be the place for you, but as mentioned, we’ve never had any escapes up to now :) I do have 2 trees which produce fruit during the late summer and fall. Apples mostly, though technically one has plums and either prunes or figs, but I haven’t seen many of those in the 3 years I’ve lived here. The apples we do see for a short period of time each year. They are mostly taken by squirrels but we collect survivors, and compost the ones that fall, unfortunately there may be some on the ground despite our efforts. You and you’re dog are welcome to enjoy the fruit, or leave it as is, or compost any that are on the ground for more room to play. If your dog is extremely obsessed with food, know that late August through October are the primary fruit months, 90% of the year there is no fruit. We live on 5 acres about 1 mile from Camp Bonneville. The Sniffspot is a 2 acre pasture with a fenced seasonal pond in the middle. Pasture is fenced with 4 foot field fence with electric wire at the top (not charged), and separate from the house. Front fence borders on 68th St. Plenty of room to run and explore! Let's keep the pasture nice, please discourage digging and pick up after dog. My Border Collie and Mini Aussie will find your leavings (it's a large space, I understand things get missed, it helps to carry poo bags to minimize backtracking). For human exercise... 6 laps around perimeter fence is approx. 1 mile, 6 laps around pond fence is approx. 1/4 mile. If you're coming from Portland, the bridges and 4th Plain traffic can be challenging!
