Great little yard with plenty of interesting spots to explore.
An honest, yet constructive review for this sniff spot… I want to like this spot…the yard itself was great fun for my dogs. The upper area provided great explanation opportunities for them. There was dog water and a trash can. Lots of comfortable seating and ample shade. It was cozy and fun. Here’s the (big) problem. There was some sort of irritation construction happening in the yard. A white pipe was exposed that led under the chain link fence…which left a ONE FOOT hole under the fence for a dog to escape through. 😳. This is unacceptable and completely unsafe. This sniff spot needs not be closed until the construction is done or at least block off the large hole under the fence. I had a wire gate in my vehicle so I was able to safely use the area by blocking the escape route. (Sniff Spot rules dictate the human must check the area before allowing dogs in, and I’m glad I followed that because I found the hole before it was too late) One other issue was my dog came around the corner of the house chewing on a corn cob that she found who knows where. Corn cobs are dangerous to dogs because they pose a major blockage hazard if the dog ingests chewed off chunks. So, I’m disappointed that there was a vet bill waiting to happen sitting in the sniff spot. Unsafe for sure. The spot is nice, but at this time, I cannot recommend it until the hazards are dealt with.
My dogs absolutely loved coming here! They had water out for the pups, and a trash can for the poop. The directions given were perfect, and it was so easy to get in and out of the yard, we will definitely be back!!
Host replied: Thanks so much. Glad they enjoyed
Nice and clean, very relaxing with shade. My dogs really enjoyed going up and down the stairs. Will definitely bring them again. The only negative-it does not have a trash can to toss the dog bags so I had to bring them home.
Host replied: Thanks for the advice. I also have added two water bowls and put them near the water hose in case they need More.
Dogs had a great time.
Host replied: Good to hear. Thank you!!
This Sniffspot might work for some dogs (very small? non-reactive?) but it wasn't right for our dog. I knew the space was small, but it's also in an L shape and there are some sheds and other structures that block visibility. I had to follow our dog around to make sure she wasn't pooping or getting into trouble--there is an open shed with stuff in it. Our dog is extremely reactive and heard a dog barking fairly close by. It is also possible for a dog to see other dogs if they're walked past the house on the sidewalk. There is also a 6-10 inch wide ditch across the yard, with a pipe in it. There's no straight flat space to throw a ball. I know it's only $7 but we won't be going back. (It also needs a sign indicating it's a Sniffspot.)
