Hazards

Some rose bushes along west fence need pruning and are hanging in the path; but I like the flowers at the moment.

This was our first Sniffspot experience and we had a lovely time in Mike's yard! Toby had a blast running around and it tired him out perfectly :) The yard was big with plenty to explore and sniff. Mike was helpful and was kind enough to offer us extra time in the yard if we wanted. Overall, we'd book again and I definitely recommend this spot.

  • Michelle R., Feb 19, 2024

Great spot! Clean, and large enough for lots of zoomies and plenty of sniffing!

  • Bailey B., Feb 14, 2024

I love this spot! It’s always clean and perfect for my pup.

  • Wyatt C., Feb 13, 2024

Great amount of space for the dogs to run around. I went during the evening and there was a decent amount of folks walking their dogs near the gate, but that didn't bother us.

  • Eric W., Feb 13, 2024

Great area for our dog and a friend to run around and play fetch

  • Stephanie T., Feb 11, 2024

A perfect spot to tire the pups!

  • Lynn S., Feb 10, 2024

Petey loves his time here, with a friend or alone playing with toys.

  • Deborah H., Jan 24, 2024

My dogs had a blast in Mike's yard today. The yard has upper and lower levels which provided a perfect "circle" for them to play chase. Clean, extra toys, wifi and chairs made it a comfortable place for me. Added bonus: view of the water through the trees!

  • Nancy J., Jan 7, 2024

Great spot for play time! We were there when it was dark but still able to throw the ball, as the lighting in the patio really helped. Highly recommend!

  • Lynn S., Jan 2, 2024

Thank you for another fantastic visit!

Meet your host

A world-class Pacific Northwest natural rainforest adventure awaits you and your best friends on 65-year-old trails, through 2 acres of trails, forest, and open areas for ball throwing and chasing sticks on 8 or 9 terraces. Starting with your choice of 2 entrance paths on the far right and left over a bluff that winds around, to The Landing Pad, through other trails forming circles to run around on and play. At the very bottom, the trails lead to a creek, on the left. The property is partially fenced and has natural barriers. It is bounded by a fence at the top, a fence on one L-shaped side, and a cliff to the creek on the other. The steep hill above the creek and dense brush provide a natural boundary, except for the most adventuresome dogs and their physically fit friends. Bring more than one dog, if possible, because they love to chase each other around the switchback trails. This forest was clear-cut between 65 to 100 years ago and not replanted. So we replanted our forest with 600+ trees. The ground is wood chips, sand, and Pacific Northwest duff with 160ft tall Hemlock, Douglas Fir, Alder, Big Leaf Maple trees, ferns, and native bushes with views of a 20-acre privately owned forested wetland. We prepared it as a Sniffspot for dogs. The lower part that connects to the creek area is not fenced. Rarely seen are animals in the forest, occasional wild rabbits, moles, squirrels, mountain beavers, mice, raccoons, shrews, voles, and weasels. Many birds are here, starlings, chickadees, woodpeckers, hawks, and American Bald Eagles. There are moles thus mole holes because it is a delightfully rugged private area so you must be careful where you step until you get used to the signs of moles and Mountain beaver underground trails crossing the paths, especially along Secret Lane, Lover's Lane, and Hidden Lane. We spent 4+ years removing invasive bushes, cutting down dead trees, and creating places for you to pause, sit, and enjoy your dogs in this natural rainforest 1 mile from the South Sound. When you park you can close the entry gate at the top. Garbage is available on the way out under the Big Leaf Maple tree at the driveway in the large green bin marked "Garbage". The Southeast corner of this Sniffspot where the creek is down a steep embankment, also is part of the property, but descending the steep area is not advisable unless you are fit and feel capable of the climb down and up. We feel a lot of delight here. We welcome you to enjoy it! We continue to work with Mayor Jim Ferrell and his Code Compliance team on the problem regarding the trash strewn on the owner/developer's land comprising most of Lakota Creek Basin. The landowner has set the clean-up start date the week of February 19, 2024 (hasn't started as of 2/27/24). Hope you can visit and enjoy it soon! 2 Starbucks less than 5 minutes away in either direction (bathrooms available there). Bigfoot Java is at 4627 SW 320th St. (no bathroom but open 24x7) Join us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61556216197208 or search "Wonderlane World Famous Sniffspot" :-) P.S. If your dog is reactive and you want to, you may wish keep your pup leashed until you are safely at the top of the path. When departing, on either side of the trails, at the top you can pause to leash your dog if you wish. The Sniffspot trails do not interact with the house area.

*12/5/23* There is a LARGE amount of standing water (small lake) and puddles in the spot due to current flooding conditions. *fall/winter update* We have mud, please consider bringing a towel for your pup(s). During the month of October we host a pumpkin patch every weekend and must close the Sniffspot for everyone’s safety. If you are a member please contact us if you aren’t available during the week to use your time. Well socialized pups are always welcome at the patch. 🎃 We have various levels of flooding during the winter; the spot has is anticipated to have mud and large puddles. At times we may need to close the spot due to excessive flooding (no dry land!). Please reach out if you have questions about how much water is in the spot. Keep in mind we also have increased migratory waterfowl in the pasture adjacent. We have new neighbors at the west end of the pasture. Please be aware there may be construction during your visit, we apologize for any inconvenience. 1 acre of flat field in a beautiful setting. One large tree in the corner. Fully fenced approx 4.5’ with predator fencing (a very small dog may be able to get out). We have motion lights that come on at night, not super bright but makes the spot visible during early night winters. Boarded by two, large pastures, a private road with limited use and our barn. Occasionally during the wet months flocks of geese/ducks may land in the wetlands adjacent. We have goats and chickens but they are on the other side of the property and should not be seen/heard. We have a dog ‘Veles’ that will be on the other side of the property or in the house. There is a covered bench and trash can in the spot, fresh water is also available. An outdoor bathroom is available for use, see map. When using the bathroom please keep your pup in your car as it is near our goats and free range chickens. We look forward to hosting you and your pup! Please reach out if you have questions. -Jenn & Drew
