55We had a good morning today, and I even extended an extra half hour so we stayed 90 minutes! This was really a training and comfort test for us, and I chose this spot to give my reactive dog just a slight increase in trigger challenges, and it was a good choice. It's about half the size of our usual Sniffspot, and is in a more active neighborhood. These were intentional choices for me. The reviews were very helpful, as was the host information, and the yard meet my expectations. Just a little bit harder for my dog, so just right. Additional small detail that could be helpful to you if you have a reactive dog, and/or are looking for more training variety. The fence isn't quite full privacy as the gaps between the wooden boards are wider than some and allow more visibility, but still more screening than not. The fence facing the alley is the most private due to the shrubbery in the other side. We were there earlyish today (Thanksgiving morning), and one of the neighbors came out into his backyard right after we arrived, and several times after to tend his barbecue/smoker food prep. He didn't speak to us and was far enough from the fence that my dog just stared and watched him for a bit. Near the end of our visit a runner came down the alley, and the sound triggered my dog to run to the fence and bark. But just that once and he recovered back to playing his toys. He was able to happily play and run around most of the visit, which was a really good sign. We brought his favorite jolly ball to be sure he had something he loved, but there were plenty of toys to choose from, hard, soft, bouncy. All the toys are at the top so you do have to go up and down the rockery if your dog gets bored and wants something different. Two bowls of clean water, and towels to clean off with, or dry a chair if you wanted to sit down. Unsurprisingly given the recent weather, the yard was a little muddy but the host clearly was prepared as there was straw laid down in the heavily trafficked areas. A few challenges are that it is a steep hill with no real stairs or railing, and I have a trick knee so had to be careful maneuvering the large damp rock steps. My dog was pretty ambitious jumping up and down the boulders. There were several times the toys got lost/stuck in the large juniper bushes lining the bank, but my dog and I got creative on how to get them back on the steep bushy hill. I'd definitely go back this winter while things are generally quiet. Curious to see how busy the neighborhood gets with warmer weather. But maybe we'll be ready by then!
55Bort & Steiner always love coming here and I always love them leaving tired.
55Great spot, super host!
55Host is amazing!
55My boy enjoyed time there:)
55Great sniff spot to give a very active dog a good workout by tossing the ball from the deck and having her run down the rockery to chase it and bring it back up. Very clean with water filled and ready for our visit
55Fun spot and kind owner! Easy parking and really quiet! Maggie had a lovely time.
55Great spot, had everything we needed. Easy to get in and plenty of parking. Lots of baskets of toys to choose from. Our dog loved it!
55Easy to access, lots of toys and fresh water - amazing overall!!
55This was my first time using Sniff Spot, and it was a wonderful experience. Easy parking and access to the dog area, clean, toys and quiet. Will be back.

i live in a neighborhood so there could be dogs barking around the area. i do not have my own dog, but usually have a dog that i am dog-sitting. i always keep the dog(s) in the house when there is a sniffspot booking and don’t let them bark or see out into the backyard.

there are no other domestic animals at my house. no other dogs will be in the yard at the time of your booking. there could be a wild animal (squirrel, rabbit) or a domestic animal (cat, dog) out front walking past my house on occasion but they don’t come in my backyard.

i live in a neighborhood; people walk down the alley sometimes (and could be walking a dog) but there are lilac bushes as an extra barrier between the fence and the alley so it's never really been an issue. the neighbors could be out in their yards, which would potentially happen more often in nice weather. also, since we live here, you could potentially hear people's voices inside the house.

Description

** RAINY SEASON - My yard is very destroyed from the past 2 years of having a Sniffspot - I am going to be closing more often this year when it's rainy to try and mitigate the amount of dirt, mud, & mess. If it is supposed to rain but then it doesn't, I will make same-day changes to my calendar... so please keep checking back if you are interested in coming that day. THANK YOU! 😊 ** PLEASE continue to leave a REVIEW every time you visit (even just stars!) and also please add a photo if you want to- the reviews help a lot, and I LOVE seeing the photos of all the cute dogs enjoying the yard!! I have quite a big yard for this area. It is fully enclosed by a 6' wooden fence. Between the yard and the patio the total area is roughly 3200 sq feet. I have a rockery that dogs love to run up and down, juniper bushes, a large covered and uncovered patio area, a kiddie pool in the hot weather, 2 water bowls (and a hose for replenishing the water/pool if needed), lots of tennis balls and toys, and a large perimeter to sniff! There is a bench, small table, and some Adirondack chairs in the backyard (and more chairs and a larger table up on the patio) for the humans... feel free to move them around as you wish! There is plenty of space to throw balls and toys; if you have mobility issues and cannot go down into the backyard, you can stay up on the patio and have your dog bring the ball back to you. Most dogs love to run up & down the rockery! Your dog(s) will be very tired and happy by the end of the Sniff! Thanks and enjoy the time with your dog(s)!!

Cleanliness

Hazards

Rockery- humans should be careful walking up & down the rockery steps. Will be some muddy areas when it has been raining. Occasional blackberry vines - I try my best to keep them at bay. Very small woodpile next to the house.

Hello! My house in West Seattle has a great dog yard; many dogs have enjoyed it throughout the decades. I dog-sit through Rover.com, so I usually have a dog here but will make sure the dog stays inside, and quiet, when there is a Sniffspot. I hope you enjoy the play time with your pup(s)!
