A clean and well kept space to play with your pup.

This is a great yard! The only caution is that if you have escape-prone small-to-medium dogs, the south side isn't fully secure. My dogs have no desire to leave though - they just want to chase and fetch and lay in the grass. It's big enough to be fun without being huge, always clean, the toy bin is great (we ended up getting one of their toys because my puppy wanted to take it home) and peaceful.

nice yard & neighborhood! easy accessibility

    Great space!

Owner was very nice and great toy selection!

Westside puppy playground is an absolute delight for our furr babies. The yard was super clean and neat. The host has added some toys, water, garbage bin, poop bags and also some nice chairs to sit around.

    Perfect yard :)

  • Laura L., Aug 24, 2023

Host set up the space with water, toys, poop bags (plus a garbage bin for disposal), and hand sanitizer which was much appreciated! Our two small dogs enjoyed wandering around, though I kept the smallest on extended leash as he can be overly courageous and stubborn when he decides he wants to escape - and there was potential for him to get up on the retaining wall. One neighbor said hello to us while the other neighbor’s dog was out briefly in their yard (a chain link fence separated the yards) which was a mild issue as one of our dogs is reactive but the yard was big enough for us to simply move to another spot to hang out. Thanks for having us!

We had a great time at Andy’s spot. Plenty of room for my dog to play fetch and run around. There was also a water bowl, dog toys, chairs, etc. Felt very welcomed and will definitely come back!

Really clean with nice grass, toys, and a big bowl for water. Everything we needed. There was a house cat inside as well as some folks that may have been a distraction to some pups, but it wasn’t for ours. Overall felt like a really safe, well-fenced yard for our dog to run.

A world-class Pacific Northwest natural rainforest adventure awaits you and your best friends on 65-year-old trails, through 2 acres of trails, forest, and open areas for ball throwing. 8 or 9 terraces. Starting with your choice of 2 entrance paths on the far right and left over a bluff that winds around, to The Landing Pad, through other trails forming circles to run around on and play. At the very bottom, the trails lead to a creek, on the left. The property is partially fenced and has natural obstacles. It is bounded by a fence at the top, a fence on one L-shaped side, and a cliff to the creek on the other. The steep hill above the creek and dense brush provide a natural boundary, except for the most adventuresome dogs and their physically fit friends. Bring more than one dog, if possible, because they love to chase each other around the circles. This forest was clear-cut between 65 to 100 years ago and not replanted. So we replanted it with 600+ trees. The ground is wood chips, sand, and Pacific Northwest duff with 160ft tall Hemlock, Douglas Fir, Alder, Big Leaf Maple trees, ferns, and native bushes with views of a 20-acre privately owned forested wetland. We prepared it as a Sniffspot for dogs. The lower part that connects to the creek area is not fenced. Rarely seen are animals in the forest, occasional wild rabbits, moles, squirrels, mountain beavers, mice, raccoons, shrews, voles, and weasels. Many birds may be seen such as starlings, chickadees, woodpeckers, hawks, and American Bald Eagles. There are moles thus mole holes because it is a delightfully rugged private area so you must be careful where you step until you get used to the signs of moles and Mountain beaver underground trails crossing the paths. Especially along Secret Lane, Lover's Lane, and Hidden Lane. We spent 4+ years removing invasive bushes, cutting down dead trees, and creating places for you to pause, sit, and enjoy your dogs in this natural rainforest 1 mile from the South Sound. When you park you can close the entry gate at the top. Garbage is available on the way out under the Bigleaf Maple tree at the driveway in the large green bin marked "Garbage". The Southeast corner of this Sniffspot where the creek is down a steep embankment, also is part of the property, but descending the steep area is not advisable unless you are fit and feel capable of the climb down and up. We feel a lot of delight here. We welcome you to enjoy it! We continue to work with Mayor Jim Ferrell and his Code Compliance team on the problem regarding the trash strewn on the owner/developer's land comprising most of Lakota Creek Basin. The landowner has set the clean-up start date the week of February 19, 2024. 9The developer has a land plat proposal and variance before the city, so cleaning shows good intent even if it took 8 years.) Hope you can visit and enjoy it soon! 2 Starbucks less than 5 minutes away in either direction (bathrooms available there). If your dog is reactive and you want to, you may wish keep your pup leashed until you are safely at the top of the path. When departing, on either side of the trails, at the top you can pause to leash your dog if you wish. The Sniffspot trails do not interact with the house area.

*12/5/23* There is a LARGE amount of standing water (small lake) and puddles in the spot due to current flooding conditions. *fall/winter update* We have mud, please consider bringing a towel for your pup(s). During the month of October we host a pumpkin patch every weekend and must close the Sniffspot for everyone’s safety. If you are a member please contact us if you aren’t available during the week to use your time. Well socialized pups are always welcome at the patch. 🎃 We have various levels of flooding during the winter; the spot has is anticipated to have mud and large puddles. At times we may need to close the spot due to excessive flooding (no dry land!). Please reach out if you have questions about how much water is in the spot. Keep in mind we also have increased migratory waterfowl in the pasture adjacent. We have new neighbors at the west end of the pasture. Please be aware there may be construction during your visit, we apologize for any inconvenience. 1 acre of flat field in a beautiful setting. One large tree in the corner. Fully fenced approx 4.5’ with predator fencing (a very small dog may be able to get out). We have motion lights that come on at night, not super bright but makes the spot visible during early night winters. Boarded by two, large pastures, a private road with limited use and our barn. Occasionally during the wet months flocks of geese/ducks may land in the wetlands adjacent. We have goats and chickens but they are on the other side of the property and should not be seen/heard. We have a dog ‘Veles’ that will be on the other side of the property or in the house. There is a covered bench and trash can in the spot, fresh water is also available. An outdoor bathroom is available for use, see map. When using the bathroom please keep your pup in your car as it is near our goats and free range chickens. We look forward to hosting you and your pup! Please reach out if you have questions. -Jenn & Drew
