55Beautiful peaceful space. My dogs and I loved the private hike in the woods. There are plenty of deer and critters about early in the morning (we came at 7) so be sure to have solid recall or a long line or ecollars etc. we’re just passing through on a roadtrip but if I lived in the area I’d be back with the dogs all the time!
55Tip: I’ve found it convenient to park on the slope by the entrance to the sniffspot field rather than in the driveway across the street. That way I don’t need to put the muzzle on the pup as the entrance to the off-leash area is only a few feet away. Also, I bring an extra pair of socks and shoes in case the field is wet from rain or I end up getting splashed in the creek. That way I don’t need to drive home with wet feet!
55Great space! I pulled in on the field side to avoid crossing the road with my dogs. So much good sniffing space and more to run around if your dogs get the zoomies. They also loved the creek running through. Definitely keep your dog on a long lead if they don’t have good recall, the natural barriers are helpful but if your dog is a mountain goat like mine they may try to scale the steep side of the creek to the busy road 😆

You can enter the sniff spot directly from the road and cross the small creek bridge to park in front of the structures. The hill, however, is steep since the fields are in a valley area. If you would prefer to park in the driveway and walk to the fields, that’s all right as well. There's a map of the area in the photos, and the yellow spots are private entries while the green is the main home driveway. The Beacom Rd access point may scrape your undercarriage.

Description

This very private area has a natural dip from the main road that protects puppers from wandering into unknown territory. Two fields of 4 acres each are available for the sniff spot; one field has 7 baby apple trees and the other has a very large, flat area for the dogs to run. Feel free to park in the main house driveway and walk your dogs across the street to enjoy our little haven from city life. You should have both flea and tick medications up-to-date since deer and groundhogs often walk through the fields in the early morning and evening. Please bring your own water for the dogs, though a hose is available in the main house driveway as well. I hope you enjoy!

HOST NOTE

The road was recently paved, so it’s best to part in my driveway and then walk your pups down the natural dip into the Sniffspot fields. This is a working farm area and there is an open shed that I’m clearing out from the previous owners. There’s a lot of acreage away from the shed area, so please keep the pups in the open fields. The tall grass areas are where natural animal dens or dips/holes in the land occur. There is also a gun range on the other side of the mountain, so you may hear gunshots in the distance. You may also occasionally hear my dogs’ barks echoing from the house since it is higher up than the fields, but the dogs are secured in my home and do not venture into the Sniffspot.

Feel free to forage along the creek! There are wild, black raspberries and blackberries in the summer, and there are black walnut fruit/seeds near the east field. In the center field, there is wild mint that grows along the creek edge. There's wild leeks everywhere as well. Feel free to explore the area and let me know if you find any other fun discoveries!
