55This is a lovely, remote, private spot. The woods are gorgeous, the trails are great, and the views are lovely! Stephen is a great host, very considerate, responsive, and nice. If you want a nice private hike, this is the spot for you!
55My dogs had a blast running up and down the creek. A beautiful, peaceful spot would definitely return.
55Bear had a great time playing in the creek and exploring! Stephen was super friendly. We’ll definitely be back!
55Absolutely beautiful. The dogs had a great time playing in the creek. Will definitely be returning to this spot.
55Stephen and his wife were very friendly! Our dog loved playing in their creek and exploring the trails. Parts of the trail were pretty steep, but we had a great time. Thank you!
55This spot was incredible! We had a blast with our two dogs on a private hike through the woods. The trail is very clear and well-maintained. It was easy to navigate even with our dogs on long lines. The creek was pretty wide/deep on the day we visited, so we got our feet wet in spite of our hiking boots — wear your water shoes or rubber boots if you care about that, because you’ll definitely want to cross to the other side where the trail continues. The property owner is working on adding on to the trail. We’ll definitely visit Shain!

Location

Troutville, Virginia

Description

Our property is 25 acres of country beneath Tinker Cliffs. The roadside is approximately 5 acres and is the home place and 20 acres is wooded trails and a Little Catawba Creek. There is a beach area with a swimming hole for dogs and shallower rock ripple areas for romping around. The area does have wild animals but that is to be expected. Please be considerate of property lines and keep dogs on leash if they are not trained to stay near. Dogs that will stay near can be off leash and have freedom to run but please know that your dog will see wild animals such as deer that may entice them to chase. There is easy parking located at a safe distance from the road (approximately 130 yards). Please call ahead for initial tour of trails. Close toe shoes with tread are recommended. Trails can be slippery in a few spots near the natural spring. Trails are mowed and mostly shaded. Hats are also recommended although ticks are not bad. Access will be restricted during hunting season.

I enjoy our new dog and run him everyday a couple times a day. I use a 4 wheeler mostly. But I’m kinda trying to start a dog club and use my property where people meet and bring their large breed dogs.
