55Nice loop trail with some elevation, mostly clearcut logged so quite exposed. A nice place to get the dog some exercise. Appreciate the clean porto at the parking lot. Pleasant creek running through the property.
55Beautiful drive out with easy to follow instructions provided by the host. The property was clean, trails were obvious and maintained, and poop bag trash cans were along the trail. Our dogs had fun wandering around and splashing in the creek.
55Wear your hiking shoes! This is a great property. It’s just like being out on public forest lands, but with fewer tall trees. It has some elevation change to it so it’s good exercise. Very clean and well-maintained. There are a few cans located along the trails for waste bags. The trails are far enough away from neighboring properties that I didn’t have any issues with my dog getting near the horses, but she didn’t venture far from the trails. It probably depends on your cell carrier, but I didn’t have service there so you may want to download information you’re hoping to have once you get there. There is an information box with copies of the trail map at the trailhead next to the port-a-potty. Be sure to check out all the trails and not just the main loop because there are some really beautiful spots, especially down along the creek. We loved it and would definitely use it again.
55My dogs had a wonderful time! Loved the views, the trail, and the creek. Will definitely be visiting again.
55Our favorite spot!
55This was such a wonderful spot for our reactive boy! We saw a few chickens in a coop at the beginning but they didn’t make a sound and our boy was sooo busy sniffing around he didn’t even notice them. There was a dog barking from an RV but he didn’t seem to care at all. We saw some horses but they were far from us with at least two fence’s inbetween. The creek was wonderful for our boy to play in too! We felt it was completely safe for our dog but chose to keep him on a 15 foot lead because we are still working on our recall! We didn’t see anyone or any dogs the whole hour we were there! This was our first time using Sniffspot and what a great first impression it was! Def recommend for reactive dogs and will def be back! Thank you for having us Rouge Ranch!
55We enjoyed or time here
55Excellent diversity of landscapes - field leads into creek and forest. Fun statues line one route and then a hilly deforested set of trails beyond
35Lovely property, and we enjoyed hanging out in the creek. This ultimately did not end up being a good fit for our dog, who is very curious about other animals and livestock. He did OK passing by the chickens at the beginning, but I didn’t realize that there would be horses once we reached the top of the property. My dog saw them, was curious, and had no problem getting right into the pasture, because the fence was not at all sturdy. It was a flimsy electric fence that was not hot, so he just stepped right in. Thankfully, it all went OK, but it was extremely scary, and I was really afraid that either my dog, or the horses, could get injured. One of the reasons I book sniffspots is because while he’s great with other dogs, he’s very interested in other animals (squirrels, deer, livestock, etc.), and is likely to let his curiosity get the best of him. I didn’t realize that this property had horses close by, and that there would not be a fence to effectively keep them in (and dogs out). Were it not for the horses, we would’ve had a lovely time – it ultimately ended up being very stressful, though. I’m just thankful that no one was hurt.
