The Red Door Salt Creek Sanctuary - Fully Fenced 1/2 Acre

Fall/Winter update: the yard is DARK after 5pm. Hose is off for winterization, so please bring water. Our 1/2 acre fully fenced dog-friendly yard is here to host your special furry friends. We live a short, straight-shot drive from Chicago and are butt-up against the beautiful Salt Creek (and all the wild life that also calls the creek "home" - bunnies, squirrels, groundhogs, birds, garden snakes (harmless, but present in May), etc.). The head of Salt Creek Trail is located just a block away on Thomas Street, so feel free to explore the creek/trail after your yard time. It leads all the way to Villa Park, where you can catch the Prairie Path / Great Western Trail. You'll pass by MORE Brewing Company as well as outdoor bar and food trucks Fuel and Creme (ice cream). Make a day of it! Please note that even though the yard IS fully fenced, it is comprised of a variety of sizes shapes ranging from 6 feet privacy, raw iron, to 4 foot chain-link, barn wood with chicken wire between the wood gaps. You know your dog's "flight risk" better than anyone, so please make smart decisions when booking our yard. Dispose of poop bags in the BLUE TOP bin (green is recycle). Finally, note that we can only host 2 dogs at a time due to wear and tear on the yard. Have fun!

Welcome to The Packground: a private, low-pressure yard in Palatine built for dogs who need room to sniff, stretch, play, and decompress without the chaos of a public dog park. This spot is best for solo dogs, small packs, puppies, nervous dogs, city/suburban dogs who need a reset, and owners who want a calmer off-leash option. Book the space for fetch, training practice, decompression time, puppy confidence-building, or a quiet sniff session. The yard is private during your booking. Please leash dogs when entering and exiting, clean up after your visit, and leave the space as you found it. Water, seating, trash access, and basic dog-friendly setup are available where noted in the listing. We live on a corner lot. There is a high, spaced fence along the public sidewalk. There is a kiddie pool (during summer), a rain garden (not really for the dogs, but in case you're worried about water it can temporarily fill up during and after heavy rainfall), and some agility equipment (four jumps and six weave poles) upon request. Easiest access to the yard is to park on E Taylor and enter through the north gate. There is a tall, silver trash can on the patio for any human trash. There is a short, silver trash can near the north gate entrance for Dog Bags. Please enjoy a patio chair, dog toys, sunscreen, bug spray, and hammock (weather permitting). Backyard is East Facing so gets lots of morning sun. There is a sun shade over part of the patio but the patio area is 100% shaded by 3:30-4p, the yard is ~50% shaded by 6p, ~100% shaded by 7p.

Riverview yard in Albany Park

Large yard right on the river. No access to the river (yard is fully fenced), but human views of the water, ducks, other birds, and wildflowers on the bank. Pesticide and herbicide free lawn but various flowers, shrubs (and weeds) on the edges. Plenty of birds, bunnies, squirrels, etc. more than your average Chicago yard. End of dead end with pretty good privacy. Chain link fence on most and iron fence at front. Not ideal for small dogs or escape artists that can squeeze under or through fence. See photos for details of fence and if your dog would try to squeeze through. There are 3 big dogs at the house across the alley, but they are also well fenced. They are out on occasion, but usually not for long and I can’t guarantee their schedule. The view is mostly blocked by garbage cans and bushes, but not completely, so this may not be the place if your pup is super reactive. There are 2 Adirondack chairs, feel free to move them around into sun or shade or lay out a blanket or whatever you need to be comfortable. There is stainless steel water bowl and some toys. Feel free to use the hose by the stairs to fill up the water bowl, hose the dogs off or whatever. You can pull it out into the middle of the yard, just put your foot on top of the reel to get better leverage and please reel back in and turn off after use.
