Location

Description

We have just under an acre fenced in with a fun stream running through it. The stream is entirely fenced in as well. The forested area is quite thick so sometimes folks have a hard time getting their pups wrangled if they are having to much fun exploring. The stream can also be difficult to get to. Look out in the spring as we are planning to correct that and make it more accessible. Large deck with table and chairs to relax on while your pup plays. Make yourself at home on the porch as well as the yard. Feel free to post to TikTok or other social media’s. It’s always appreciated!

Cleanliness

99% of guests said this spot was as clean as expected during their visit.

Hazards

Running stream. Not very deep but can be muddy. We also are seeing an increase in black bears. It is highly unlikely you will run into one as they are typically here first thing in the morning and late at night.

first time visiting this Sniffspot and it exceeded our expectations! Such a great spot, especially for our water loving pup!

Great spot! A beautiful drive out there. My boy Ed had so much fun running and sniffing, once he stopped trying to get in the house. LoL

Host is communicative and helpful. Stairs down to the creek and a more contained compost pile (which can be a mold/mycotoxin exposure for dogs) would grant the fifth star. Very neat space, thanks for sharing!

Host replied: Thank you! Both are on our list. Troubleshooting and brainstorming the creek access. Won’t be stairs for sure at least not any time soon but there will be something. ♥️ compost pile is being sorted this weekend. We have the materials in the garage to complete it. 🤗

I gad a hard time getting pics to do this spot justice as the dogs were constantly in motion, exploring all of the space and bounding through the woods. If you have dogs that love adventure, this place will provide a thrill. My girls were so contented with their one hour run, they are crashed hard on the couch now only letting out occasional happy moans. Thank you for sharing this little piece of nature to safely venture.

Neat spot with an impressive creek in Rhododendron thicket. Was super for off leash training - thanks for sharing your property.

This was a lovely spot on a really cool property. There is a good sized yard for my dog to run around in, as well as a wooded area with a creek and a bridge, so lots for my pup to sniff and explore. Lacey is a lovely host and does a great job making sure the humans are comfortable as well as the dogs.

I am grateful to our host for providing such a great spot! The dogs loved it! I was a little nervous about the creek because it was strong enough to carry one of them away; but they left it alone.

Host replied: Thank you! I’m glad you had a good time! It runs a bit quick when we have any type of rain. 😌 We are working on some big improvements over the next month with added seating, snacks treats, activities, and ab easier way to get to and from the creek. We hope to see you back!

I like the creek in the yard

Pup had a great time exploring and playing in the stream. Would definitely return again

Visited for 2 hours and the pups had a blast! My dogs won't go further than 50m from me in new places, so I walked into the woods with them over the creek. I would not recommend going down to the creek if you have more than small mobility issues as the terrain is moderately difficult. There is actually a stream on the other side of the property that's easier to get to if you don't want to go down to the creek. They did a great job with the fence even through the woods and creek, my boys throughly checked the whole run for holes and jump spots. The yard has a lot of room for ball/toy throwing, just don't bring any toy you don't wanna lose as I did lose one ball to the creek. The deck was nice to go on, but the cooler was empty and only one small chair was available on the deck for my visit; but I went to play with my dogs and adventure, so I didn't mind.

Host replied: I’m glad y’all had a good time! In the spring/summer we stock the coolers with drinks and snacks. We also just got some hammock chairs and traditional hammocks that will be installed very soon so check back in with us. ♥️ I’ll let you know if we find that ball.

Meet your host

I work from home and want to share my space with puppers. I don’t currently own any dogs but I throughly enjoy seeing them having a blast in the yard and creek.

A few Announcements: 1) 2/27- It came to my attention recently that in the back corner of the yard there is a small gap between my fence and the neighbor's fence where a dog could potentially get through. This came to my attention after a recent visitor was there with their dogs and my neighbor came out on their deck with their 2 smaller dogs and my visitor's dogs wanted to go after the neighbor's 2 smaller dogs. That was the 1st time I heard of this gap or anything like that happening, but I did see the gap that they were talking about, where it's possible their dogs could have gotten through if they weren't guarding their dogs from getting through. It will be a few days before I'll be able to address this as far as getting it fixed so in the meantime, this is a warning that there is a potential gap in this part of the fencing. (Bottom left corner.) **Book at your own risk.** I will update this once I've been able to secure this hole. Thank you for your patience. 2) There was a recent visitor who did not clean up after their dog. If I knew who it was, it would show up in my review of them. This is a reminder that you are expected to clean up after your dog. Thank you. Recommendations: I recommend that if you book an evening time, that you come prepared with a good flashlight, especially in the fall/winter when it's getting dark earlier, and check the time of sunset. Even with the lights on, it will be dark in most parts of the yard, and I can't guarantee the lights will be on for every evening visit. The space: A wide open space with rolling hills for your dogs to play, while you enjoy the view. *The sprinkler is actually a garden hose that is a "soaker" hose. It sprays water out of it like a sprinkler. There are plenty of sticks you can throw for the dog to fetch. The location is 5 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway, 5 minutes to Downtown Asheville, and close to the Folk Art Center. The newly renovated Haw Creek library and playground, Creekside Tavern, and High Five Coffee are just down the street. You can also walk to the Haw Creek Farmer's Market from here on Fridays, 3-6 pm. You can walk straight from to the Mountain to Sea trail from here without having to drive, and hike to Lunchbox rock (seen in pictures here.) I included the porch pictures so you could see the sunset. :) There is hand sanitizer, sunblock and bug spray under the stairs, under the side of the bottom step that you are welcome to use.
