Location

Description

Complete freedom to roam on 30 acres with a bonus that our land is surrounded by another 200+ acres of electric company owned land with no roads, no cars, no neighbors… just grass and forest. We occasionally have farm animals positioned on an acre or 2 who are fully fenced in. If you see blue fence posts with white wire / rope running between them, please assume the fence is electrified. We would ask that you use caution with your dogs around the livestock areas so as not to frighten the animals or the dogs! We have a Google Earth picture roughly showing the property lines and the driveway for you to use while exploring. Bonus: We are a small farm so if you are interested in picking up some chicken or pork - send us a message and we can have your order ready for pick up when you arrive. You can visit www.hardstrugglehomestead.com for more info and details or just message us about our to-go farm products. There is no house on the property. Just a camper and a shed. Park anywhere on the road or at the big circle at the top (near the farm office.) We have wifi near the brown shed at the top of the road. Wifi: HSH Password: HardStruggleHomestead We are happy to say hello and give you a tour of our farm and answer any questions about how we raise our chicken and pigs. We are also happy to give you a future free sniff spot hour with the purchase of chicken or pork! Just inquire within! Be forewarned that our land is on the side of a mountain so the walk up the driveway will be on a slow incline. Your dogs will be tired after this trip, we promise. Update: April 2023 As of April 1st there are no animals or livestock on site except for a colony of bees which are fenced in with an electric fence.

Wonderful wide open space! We had a blast exploring!

It’s a beautiful space with alot of space that my fur baby loved to explore and sniff around. Quiet and relaxing.

Amazing Sniffspot, we would absolutely return. We parked at the entrance gate and walked up the driveway, easily took up the full hour. We saw deer and turkeys, Obi doesn't have a strong prey drive, but good to know if your dog does! Absolutely gorgeous and clean spot.

This spot was a breath of fresh air from your standard manicured trails. There were so many beautiful wildflowers! Perhaps I missed it, but I saw no real trail in the woods, and many of the branches hang low. For my dog on a long line, she definitely got tangled often. However, my off leash dog LOVED running in the meadow area. There are some tire tracks that make a nice path through the meadow. If your dog is off leash, please know highway 15 is within sight of the Spot. Definitely watch out for ticks in the tall grass, and make sure your dog is up to date on preventions. The hosts’ instructions were clear, concise, and very helpful in finding the spot.

There are a variety of different spaces to explore here—including woods, long driveway (gravel) and some spaces with tall grass. Our dogs have recall but are not always the best at listening. This was a great place to get some off leash and recall training. No distractions other than a few deer (and other little critters).

We had a wonderful time at this spot! Options to walk along trails, through the woods, or along the gravel driveway. Loads of space for our pups to explore and they left very happy and very tired!

  • Katie (and Mike) C., Apr 8, 2023

Great place - you can walk thru the woods or stick to the long driveway. Plus our pup loved the stream.
