55Great spot with a lot of room for throwing the ball!
55What a wonderfully well-though-out spot. Great for getting energy out and many different areas to explore. Thoughtful to have all things you may need on a visit, including rags for feet, toys, and fresh water. Great spot!
55Perfect
55This is a great spot! The dogs had so much fun romping around the field and trees and creek. They played ball and sniffed all the sniffs. When it was time to go they didn't want to get in the car! The property is beautiful. We came on a sunny day but I definitely see where it can get muddy when it's wet out. My dogs were happy and muddy from playing in the creek. Annika is kind enough to leave out towels for cleaning the fur babies up. She also has out poop bags and a garbage can, hand sanitizer, tissues, loaner boots and umbrellas, fresh water for the dogs, and tons of fun balls and toys for them with chuck its as well. Very thoughtful set up! We had a blast today and are excited to come back soon!
55Awesome place! Covered area had water, lot of toys/balls/chuck its and towels. Sanitizing spray too. Plenty of space for our three dogs to run. Loved that we could drive through the gate and just let them out of the car.
55Amazing area! My pups loved it
55Lots of room to roam and new sights and smells!
55Very nice yard, well equipped for anything visiting dog families need!
55My girls had the best time! This was our first visit at this spot and we loved it. I really appreciated the sanitized toys, towels and other things that were provided. We will be back!
55Great property for my pup to run & explore! There were sanitized balls to fetch, fresh water & towels if needed to clean your muddy pup. Heard the rooster a couple times and a dog barking, but double fences separated from the pasture so minimal distraction! Chairs to sit & relax in multiple spots. Very securely fenced. We’ll definitely be back!

Description

Beautiful sloped pasture with some woods at the lower end. 1.5 acres. If desired, you can drive right into the pasture and secure the gate behind you before letting your dog(s) loose. It changes by the season. In summer, the grass grows tall and you can enjoy the shade of alders in the lower portion. A seasonal creek runs through it in winter and spring. Your dog may find the scent of deer where they've bedded down at night, though it's unlikely that any will be present for your visit. You will see that I've planted and protected some fruit trees and native plants here and there. A sheltered area allows you to sit in the shade or out of the rain, and that's where you'll also find most amenities, such as toys and water. There are two driveways onto the property. You want the north one with the sign "Ericksen." After driving up that driveway, you'll see a "sniffspot" sign on the gate into the pasture. Please do not enter the farmhouse yard. The residents of the farmhouse are not the sniffspot hosts. For any questions, issues, or suggestions about how I can improve this spot, please drop me a message or call me, Annika, at 253-346-5863. New: accepting donations for COMPOST, like leaves, lawn clippings, pumpkins, newspaper, fruit/veg peels, coffee grounds, annual plants including tomatoes, used potting soil, tree trimmings, etc. You'll see the compost receptacle as you come up the driveway.

Cleanliness

99% of guests said this spot was as clean as expected during their visit.

Hazards

There is tall grass and bumpy terrain, so there are risks of twisting an ankle or tripping. There are some prickly things like blackberries. There is a seasonal creek in winter/spring. Guests almost never book for hours after dark, but if you'd like to try it, be aware that there is no lighting and you would need excellent flashlights, sturdy shoes, and perhaps a light-up collar on your dog.

A world-class Pacific Northwest natural rainforest adventure awaits you and your best friends on 66-year-old trails, through 2 acres of trails, forest, tall old growth trees, a creek, and open areas for ball throwing and chasing sticks on 9 terraces. Starting with your choice of 2 entrance paths on the far left and right over a bluff that winds around to The Landing Pad, through other trails forming circles to run around on and play. ('Yes, there are 2 paths you can go by'). At the very bottom, our Madhatter trail leads to a creek. The property is partially fenced and has natural barriers. It is bounded by a fence at the top, a fence on one L-shaped side, a cliff, and creek on the other. Bring more than one dog, if at all possible, because they LOVE to play 'Hide and Go Seek', and chase each other around in circles on the switchback trails, down the hill to the creek and back up the hill to the lodge. This tranquil forest was mostly clear-cut between 66 to 100 years ago then not replanted. So we replanted our 2-acre forest with 600+ trees. The ground is wood chips, sand, Pacific Northwest duff, with 160ft tall Hemlock, Douglas Fir, Alder, Big Leaf Maple trees, 1 Madrona, ferns, and native bushes with views of a 20-acre privately owned forested wetland. We prepared the yard as a Sniffspot for dogs. Rarely seen are animals in the forest - occasional wild rabbits, moles, squirrels, mountain beavers, raccoons, mice, shrews, voles, and weasels. Many birds are seen and heard here- thrush, grosbeaks, warblers, sparrows, starlings, chickadees, flycatchers, redstarts, vireos, tanager, pewees, orioles, woodpeckers - shorebirds, waterfowl, raptors, such as hawks, and American Bald Eagles. This is a rugged forested area so be careful of footing! watch for signs of moles and Mountain beaver underground trails crossing the paths, especially along Secret Lane, Lover's Lane, and Hidden Lane (signs to be added soon). Do wear boots if you plan to access the creek. We spent 4+ years removing invasive bushes, cutting down dead trees, and creating places for you to run, walk, play, pause, sit, and enjoy your dogs in this natural rainforest, one mile from the South Sound. When you park you can close the entry gate at the top. We feel a lot of delight here. We welcome you to enjoy it now! 2 Starbucks are less than 5 minutes away in either direction (bathrooms are available there). Bigfoot Java is at 4627 SW 320th St. (no bathroom but open 24x7) Join us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61556216197208 or search "Wonderlane World Famous Sniffspot" :-) Wonderlane is a place to commune with nature, a peaceful place to breathe in nature with some walks over and around 2 acres of forested hills. You can't get lost, just keep going up if you are unsure. When it is raining and for water dogs, bring a towel to dry off pups' paws. There is water to wash dogs down near the creek. Actually there are water hydrants in most areas. If your dog is reactive and you want to, you may keep your pup leashed the 20 ft from your vehicle to the top of either trailhead. When leaving via either trail at the top you can easily pause to leash your dog if you wish. PS. If your dog doesn't want to leave, contact me and I'll ring the Magic Chuck Waggin' Triangle, and your dog will come. No worries! Toss garbage away at the top driveway as you exit in the large gray bin marked "Garbage".
