55Lovely grassy yard
55This is our favorite sniff spot! It’s a fantastic safe spot for our dog Livie to chase tennis balls, roll in the grass and if we’re lucky a hello from the host, Sean! The beautiful water view is just icing on the cake.
55What a beautiful spot! We spent most of our time on the private beach, Willow had a blast and we had just enough beach to walk a ways.
55Great beach access! We saw a few other people down the beach but never got close enough to anyone for the dogs to take notice. The yard is a nice place to sit and enjoy the view while the dogs play with the various toys in the yard. If you have mobility issues you will probably have trouble getting to the beach as the stairs are very steep and can get really slick but otherwise it's perfect! We will be back.
55Beautiful location… nice yard to play fetch and get some sniffs in. We went down to the beach which is quite lovely, but the tides weren’t great for beach walking. We will return again in a low tide day though!
55Cannot beat the view. High sturdy fence. Left with very happy pups! 🐾
55Fantastic beach! Just what the dog needed
55Fully fenced and a fantastic view!
55Loved our visit to this clean, sunny spot. Owner communicated quickly and was extraordinarily accommodating to our last-minute request. Tide was high so we didn’t get to explore the beach, eager to do so next time.
55Super fun and secure Sniffspot! Can't wait to visit again!

Description

A .63 acre dog sanctuary for you and your pup. The yard is well maintained with dog friendly grass and has incredible views of the Hood Canal and Puget Sound. If you're interested, there is private beach access for you and your pup to explore miles of beach (public but almost always empty). There are numerous dog toys available as well. Regarding the beach, there are approximately 50 steps which you will need to climb up and down to access the beach so please wear proper footwear. (update 4/25/24 - I was just down at the beach today and the most recent storms we had knocked down the bottom step. The hand railing is still up and there's a perfectly placed tree trunk to replace the stairs but you'll have about a 2 ft step instead of normal height stairs. It should be easily jumpable by dogs and totally doable for you if you've already been able to do the rest of the stairs. I hope to fix this in the next week or two but wanted to make sure it was fully disclosed before you visit) As this is on the Hood Canal and not a lake or a pond, tides impact the size of the beach. If you are hoping to walk endless miles of beach, the tide will need to be at 2ft or below. Anything under 4ft will give you a massive area (probably 1/2 mile or more) and almost guaranteed private area as only people with stairs can access the beach at this tide level. Though the beach is open at any point, I think the maximum height you would probably want to go is about 6.5ft. This still gives you and your dog a decent sized area to play in (approximately 500ft by 30ft or 1/2 acre). Photos 16 and 17 show the beach at 6.25ft with a very large sandy area for you and your pup to play in. Anything above 6.5 ft is not recommended as the beach just gets thinner and thinner, but you're able to try if you want. (no refunds given if you don't like what you find). You are responsible for checking out the tides before you go. Legally, I can't recommend any specific source for you to use, but you might find good information Googling "tide chart port ludlow". Regarding ADA Accessibility, my property is on a gently sloping hill. To access it, there are 2 very wide concrete steps to get to the grass. This would be doable for someone on crutches and probably ok for a regular wheelchair if you had a second person to help lower you to each step and pull you up. It's definitely not accessible to a motorized wheelchair. Sorry.

Host replied: Thank you for kind review. It was very nice of you to not ding me for the messes in the yard. With the holiday, I didn't get a chance to pick it up before leaving and there were a lot more piles out there than I care to admit. It's normally in much better shape and will be next time you come back!
