Description

**Winter is upon us so some areas have the potential to be soggy and muddy in the lowest grass areas. Boots are strongly advised. We have towels to wipe paws.** Centrally located in the Summit area nestled between Tacoma and Puyallup. We’re just minutes between the I-5 and 512. At Summit Ridge, there’s something to satisfy your dog’s need to stimulate their natural curiosity and bring them home tired…the humans too! Included in your booking, you and your pup(s) will have three different areas to engage their noses in different sensory experiences while on our 2.5 acre fully fenced property. Whether it’s our heated indoor arena, the “Dogs Den” suitable for small to medium sized dogs to play. The indoor arena is heated, perfect during the cold rainy season and also air conditioned during the hot summer months. The indoor arena is great for having a Birthday or Gotcha “Pawty”. The arena can be fully enclosed for those rainy days or open the slider to the fully fenced 1/4 acre grass dog Zoomy Pen🐶 The fully enclosed grass “Zoomie Pen”is perfect for zoomie time, puppies and dogs in training, some toy fun, or for dogs without good recall. Just outside the Zoomy Pen is our large play field giving lots of room for Chuckit tossing, parkour on the logs or some nose work fun and mind stimulation. The playfield leads to the backwoods🌲so 🐾Venture out to the 1.5 acre wooded area providing a cool shaded area of trails for more sniffing, wildlife spotting and occasional llamas in the neighboring pasture. For an even greater experience, we offer some add ons that are sure to enhance your dog’s stimuli and go home tired from all the fun! ———————————————- **New guests use promo code SUMMIT5 for $5 off your first visit **

Cleanliness

99% of guests said this spot was as clean as expected during their visit.

Hazards

Blackberry bushes throughout the far east side of the fencing of the backwoods area. The field has dips and slight incline. When in the backwoods, watch your footing in the grassy area due to mole mounds, dips and potential tripping on blackberry vines in the trails. We are working tirelessly to clear the blackberries from the wooded area and made more walking trails but still working on the area whenever we can. **Closed shoes or hikers are strongly advised.**

Amazing spot! Gracious host, excellent instructions, personal and thoughtful touches… The host really goes above and beyond with thoughtfulness, amenities, and helpfulness. Lots of different terrain. My dog loved the scent course as well. Highly recommend this spot!

  • Norm S., Feb 24, 2024

It was a perfect setting for my Doberman! Very clean, fenced in and plenty of awesome space to run. She needs a ton of room to run enough to get tired. Nicole's place was ideal for that!

  • Emma T., Feb 22, 2024

Great space! They definitely went the extra mile with coffee for the humans and a little treat for the pups. We will be back!

  • Angi U., Feb 22, 2024

This Sniff Spot never disappoints. My dogs love it here. The hostess is amazing and there are different “zones” for different types of stimulation for the dogs.🐶

  • Laurel W., Feb 21, 2024

Fantastic spot, we will definitely be back! Love the mix of space, a covered area, field space, and woods. The pups had a blast!

A world-class Pacific Northwest natural rainforest adventure awaits you and your best friends on 65-year-old trails, through 2 acres of trails, forest, and open areas for ball throwing and chasing sticks on 8 or 9 terraces. Starting with your choice of 2 entrance paths on the far right and left over a bluff that winds around, to The Landing Pad, through other trails forming circles to run around on and play. At the very bottom, the trails lead to a creek, on the left. The property is partially fenced and has natural barriers. It is bounded by a fence at the top, a fence on one L-shaped side, and a cliff to the creek on the other. The steep hill above the creek and dense brush provide a natural boundary, except for the most adventuresome dogs and their physically fit friends. Bring more than one dog, if possible, because they love to chase each other around the switchback trails. This forest was clear-cut between 65 to 100 years ago and not replanted. So we replanted our forest with 600+ trees. The ground is wood chips, sand, and Pacific Northwest duff with 160ft tall Hemlock, Douglas Fir, Alder, Big Leaf Maple trees, ferns, and native bushes with views of a 20-acre privately owned forested wetland. We prepared it as a Sniffspot for dogs. The lower part that connects to the creek area is not fenced. Rarely seen are animals in the forest, occasional wild rabbits, moles, squirrels, mountain beavers, mice, raccoons, shrews, voles, and weasels. Many birds are here, starlings, chickadees, woodpeckers, hawks, and American Bald Eagles. There are moles thus mole holes because it is a delightfully rugged private area so you must be careful where you step until you get used to the signs of moles and Mountain beaver underground trails crossing the paths, especially along Secret Lane, Lover's Lane, and Hidden Lane. We spent 4+ years removing invasive bushes, cutting down dead trees, and creating places for you to pause, sit, and enjoy your dogs in this natural rainforest 1 mile from the South Sound. When you park you can close the entry gate at the top. Garbage is available on the way out under the Big Leaf Maple tree at the driveway in the large green bin marked "Garbage". The Southeast corner of this Sniffspot where the creek is down a steep embankment, also is part of the property, but descending the steep area is not advisable unless you are fit and feel capable of the climb down and up. We feel a lot of delight here. We welcome you to enjoy it! We continue to work with Mayor Jim Ferrell and his Code Compliance team on the problem regarding the trash strewn on the owner/developer's land comprising most of Lakota Creek Basin. The landowner has set the clean-up start date the week of February 19, 2024 (hasn't started as of 2/27/24). Hope you can visit and enjoy it soon! 2 Starbucks less than 5 minutes away in either direction (bathrooms available there). Bigfoot Java is at 4627 SW 320th St. (no bathroom but open 24x7) Join us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61556216197208 or search "Wonderlane World Famous Sniffspot" :-) P.S. If your dog is reactive and you want to, you may wish keep your pup leashed until you are safely at the top of the path. When departing, on either side of the trails, at the top you can pause to leash your dog if you wish. The Sniffspot trails do not interact with the house area.
