Description

This is a 234acre forest now a USDA backed Conservative Stewardship project with a babbling brook and access to a private access only 350 acre pond. Wildlife and nature abounds. Treat yourself and your canine friends to a forest therapy session with access to about 50 of the acres and kayaking, fishing or just exploring on a private access only pond and forest

HOST NOTE

You need a high clearance vehicle to access the property by vehicle. If you don’t have high clearance, the snow is too deep or there is a blown down tree park anywhere after my neighbors mill and walk in . See access instructions-do not block the rocky woods road.

Cabin and contents5 credits

Access to the Cabin and any helpful items like pfd´s, camp chairs, grilling utensils, compass, toilet paper, hand sanitizer, portable toilet (bucket with compostable liners and sawdust), firestarters, matches, first aid kit, emergency blanket and more. Please book this when making your reservation and I will provide access information.

Firewood and Firepits0 credits

You will need to gather this-some firewood may be available at either of the firepits-shore of Pond or near the Cabin. There is a dry tinder box at the Cabin-please replenish any use.

Fishing0 credits

Bring your own equipment, Maine fishing license and experience the fishing on the Pond with your pooch.

Additional rules

If using the Cabin and portable toilet make sure to first fix a green compostable liner (provided) around the rim of the bucket (material will stretch around it), use the toilet and place the wood shavings in the liner after using the toilet, tie up the compostable bag and throw in the pit latrine next to the pallet. Cover the bag with wood chips if they are not frozen. There is hand sanitizer and paper towels in the Cabin. Return the portable toilet to the Cabin.

All dogs welcome in the orchard. Come enjoy the beauty and openness of a fully fenced secluded apple orchard surrounded by beautiful trees on all sides. 5 min away from downtown Blue Hill. On Route 177- very easy to find! Please bring your own water. There is no bathroom facility. There is a great rock to sit on in the trees in this orchard, but I will getting a bench soon. This fenced in area is surrounded by forest and there are critters like skunk, porcupine, and deer. I have only seen the former two at dusk- but always be careful when entering and exiting and scan the orchard before entering. Brand new sniff spot :) appreciate any feedback and reviews! Enjoy

Welcome to Our woods 🙌we have a nice open yard thst leads to a trail in the woods. One loop is about 2/3 a mile. Slightly downhill for the way down and just enough uphill on the way back to raise your heart rate. We have the trail marked as it’s easy to get turned around. We ask that you let us know when you are done with trail so we can let our dog bacj outside. This is the perfect place for dogs to be off leash. Sometimes we run into our neighbors with their dogs but hardly ever. Every now and then our neighbors with their comes through on 4 wheel.

Be aware that it is a new and developing yard, so as of now the ground is predominantly wood chips and there are stumps, trees, and other obstacles. Please be advised that Cooperative Dogs is not liable for injury to you or your dog. The fence is 5’ high welded wire construction with a chicken wire skirt, which is secure for most dogs but we cannot guarantee that your dog will not figure out a way to escape.
