Stone Mountain State Park and New River State Park are minutes away. The Cedar Ridge and Flat Rock Ridge Trailheads are 5 minutes from the site which lead to the Basin Creek Trail, part of Doughton Recreation Area. There are several wineries in the area, including Roaring River Vineyards within 15 minutes. This area is also home to the Blue Ridge Parkway, a short 20 minute drive. Wilkesboro, Sparta, and Elkin are within 30-40 minutes and offer lots of excellent restaurants, breweries, and fun things to explore. Several local golf courses are close by. Boone and Blowing Rock are about an hour from this location. Cell service is non-existent at the site but available at the main entrance. Wi-Fi is available for an additional charge; hi-speed and reliable for streaming and/or working remote.

Silent H Acres In Morganton

Silent H Acres is almost an acre fenced spot for your dog to go sniffing, running, fetching, and discovering. There are toys to play with (frisbees, tug rope, tennis balls, etc) and sticks to fetch. The grass ranges from 2” mowed, to 4” natural, up to about 12+ inches. A smattering of trees and two sitting areas for you - the gray Adirondack chairs are a bit too heavy to move, but feel free to move the red ones anywhere you would like. ***We will be adding a couple of agility exercise areas for your dog in the next few days. Toward the front of the field, I have mowed a curvy type of track in case you want to work on guided leash training. For you, we will keep a track around the perimeter of the fence mowed so you can use it for a walking track. PLEASE NOTE, the electric fence is DISCONNECTED. Not every dog loves the dog park — and that’s okay! If Arko Dog Park isn’t the right fit, try a private play session in the WHS Sniffspot area. Nestled near our trails, this wide-open space is perfect for dogs who prefer room to run, sniff, and explore on their own. With gratitude to Mountain Fence and Deck for enclosing the space, this area was once the yard for our Diamond Dog program, where dogs practiced their manners while living in a home-like setting on campus. Even better, your dog’s play helps support the lifesaving mission of Watauga Humane Society.

Slys Peace Trail

Located in the foothills, the Slys Peace trail was created for dog stimulation. The trail starts at the lower end of the pasture and follows the creek meandering through a rhododendron forest. Situated at the base of 100 acres of wooded ridge land, the hike offers a wilderness experience customized to your comfort zone. There are multiple trails to accommodate your level of exercise. The full experience will require crossing the creek multiple times and is recommended for those with hiking experience. Trails are easy to follow with multiple exits that lead out to the pasture. This is dog heaven. Let your dog be a dog. To locate the gate entrance watch for the Giant metal horse. His nose points the way. Follow the fenceline a few hundred feet where you will find the gate just before the power line easement. There is now a large Sniff Spot sign securely attached.

You will need front wheel drive or four-wheel-drive to make it up our driveway there don’t worry it’s not that bad😊 we have many kids toys to play with plus a trampoline, tree house , slide, and soon we are installing a zip line. can’t wait to meet you and your doggies:)

We have a porch on the side of the home with an umbrella and table with seating up to 8. There is a large outdoor storage box that has seat covers inside with a hammock, as well. Please put everything back in when done and enjoy your visit!
