Silent H Acres is almost an acre fenced spot for your dog to go sniffing, running, fetching, and discovering. There are toys to play with (frisbees, tug rope, tennis balls, etc) and sticks to fetch. The grass ranges from 2” mowed, to 4” natural, up to about 12+ inches. A smattering of trees and two sitting areas for you - the gray Adirondack chairs are a bit too heavy to move, but feel free to move the red ones anywhere you would like. ***We will be adding a couple of agility exercise areas for your dog in the next few days. Toward the front of the field, I have mowed a curvy type of track in case you want to work on guided leash training. For you, we will keep a track around the perimeter of the fence mowed so you can use it for a walking track. PLEASE NOTE, the electric fence is DISCONNECTED. Roam the riverfront to the grassy field. Be aware you may get an occasional visit from small, friendly mix breed pups from down the dirt road! GPS may misalign the address: 6107 Watershed Rd. Morganton, NC 28655 … drive down Watershed, once you reach Bob’s Knob (dirt road) + see the green tiny cabin.. you’re there! You are also welcome to park right beside the cabin or as close as safely possible to stream or river!

Located in the foothills, the Slys Peace trail was created for dog stimulation. The trail starts at the lower end of the pasture and follows the creek meandering through a rhododendron forest. Situated at the base of 100 acres of wooded ridge land, the hike offers a wilderness experience customized to your comfort zone. There are multiple trails to accommodate your level of exercise. The full experience will require crossing the creek multiple times and is recommended for those with hiking experience. Trails are easy to follow with multiple exits that lead out to the pasture. This is dog heaven. Let your dog be a dog. To locate the gate entrance watch for the Giant metal horse. His nose points the way. Follow the fenceline a few hundred feet where you will find the gate just before the power line easement. There is now a large Sniff Spot sign securely attached.

River Front Field 12 Acres

It may not be the same after the storm but it’s still a doggy paradise. *POST HELENE UPDATE 10/13/24* I am so sad to say that the Helene floods have completely destroyed our Sniffspot. We hope to reopen one day but the space will be a completely different place. We are hard at work doing what we can so please check back often. UPDATE 4/11/24* The bugs can get really bad at certain times of year. Mostly gnats around the face and no-see-ums. I do provide bug spray and bug nets that work best when worn with a hat. The worst of the bugs are early spring (April-June). Not fenced but not immediately bordered by anything but forest or field on all sides. The property is 12 acres with mostly open or treed space. There is a small beach area with water calm enough for dogs to swim and fetch sticks. We have picnic tables and chairs that you can use but please pick up after yourself, your dog, and your kids. There is now a trashcan provided on the beach for your convenience. Downstream side of property has an “island” that can be explored. The neighbors property downstream starts shortly free the road narrows between the river and steep bank. It’s usually more overgrown and can visually tell the upkeep is different. Please avoid being on their property. Flood waters make signage difficult to use in this area. Just message me if you need more details on the boundary line.

Ruff Ridge Dog Park

Natural setting with areas for on-leash walking/hiking and a fenced in area of aprox. 2000 square feet. Easy private parking and access with a walk through the woods, across a bridge and up the hill to the fenced area. Fence aprox. 4 feet tall. Guests may walk around marked areas outside the fence if dog is leashed.
