Bring your fur babies to this beautiful private wildlife preserve in Gerrardstown. Our private property features nature trails that lead to a 7 acre pond and private access to Back Creek. Your pups can take a swim in the pond or splash around in the beautiful crystal clear creek on the backside of the property. There are otters in the pond so be watchful that your fur babies don’t have a negative interaction with the wildlife. We only host one booking at a time so the full 20.56 acres will be yours for the time you reserve. Additionally this property has three main areas. At the base of the driveway, you will find a forested area with clearing to sit in the shade and let your pups play with the available dog toys or explore. Make your way to the back of that first main area to begin your first nature trail which leads you straight to the beautiful 7 acre pond where more seating is available. From the pond there’s another winding trail that takes you through the backside of the forest and then opens up on Back Creek. Parking: You can park at the top of the driveway, on the side of the road, or you can bring your vehicle down the driveway. For small cars it is recommended To park at the top of the driveway due to unlevel terrain. Before you leave the property: please clean up all of your dog waste and dispose of in the waste bins along with any trash. And please place the dog toys back in the bin. My husband and I have a little peace of heaven here in the Shenandoah Valley! Our goal is to provide a space for all dogs to play, run and sniff away! We have a huge field with a platform/ramps, tug rope, agility poles, stick collection, hidden container with treats and possibly a prize toy! We host many special events for pups as well as birthday parties for your pups! I spent many years volunteering, fostering and ultimately adopting many animals from rescue non-profits over the years. Throughout all of the years I spent in animal rescues, I realized that most dogs don’t get much time outside of the kennels. I also came to understand that many rescue animals have trauma related behaviors and cannot integrate with other dogs. I feel so grateful to be able to provide a space for dogs to be off leash and have the freedom to explore! Also, it is a significant bonding experience for pups and their parents to have this special time together! Our dogs are in a separate fenced area but because I feel this time is for you and your pup(s), I will put my pups in the house so they are not visible to you and your pups. Provided are the use of 20, 30, 40 foot long leashes (red, blue, black). Guests are welcome to use these to allow their pups more freedom to explore the creek! If your pup has excellent recall you are welcome to let them off leash but do so at your own risk! HIKING TRAIL: In addition to the dog park play area there is an awesome hiking trail for guests, however, please note it is temporarily “ON-LEASH ONLY” due to improvements and upgrades we are creating!
