Description
Dog Park Rules In addition to the City of New Bedford Park Regulations, the following rules shall apply: • The dog park shall be open from 7:00am to 8:00pm. The City of New Bedford reserves the right to close the dog park temporarily or permanently for reason to include, but not limited to: repairs, weather, facility conditions, and/or abuse of rules. • Entry into the dog park shall be strictly for dogs and their owners who have been issued an access card by the City of New Bedford. Anyone who enters the dog park without an access card shall be deemed trespasser. • Owners shall be legally responsible for their dogs at all times inside the dog park, and owners shall be liable for any injuries and/or damage caused by their dog(s). The use of the dog park is at your own risk. • All dogs shall wear an up-to-date license on their collar. Dog licenses can be obtained at the City of New Bedford Clerks Office at City Hall from 8:00am to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday (508-979-1450). • All dogs shall be vaccinated, spayed/neutered, healthy and not showing signs of sickness. • Dogs under 4 months shall not be permitted in the dog park. • Persons must be at least 18 years of age to enter the dog park. • Strollers shall not be permitted inside the dog park. • Owners shall carry a leash at all times. • Dogs shall be tethered and secured when entering or exiting the dog park. • No more than two (2) dogs per owner shall be allowed inside the dog park. • Chain, choke, prong, or e-collars shall be removed before entering the dog park. • Owners shall not be permitted to leave their dog(s) unattended, and shall maintain visual and verbal contact with their dog(s) at all times. • It shall be the responsibility of the owner to clean-up waste produced by their dog(s). • Dogs shall not be allowed to dig, and shall be stopped by their owner(s) immediately. • Aggressive dogs shall not be allowed in the park, and its owner shall remove any dog exhibiting aggressive behavior from the dog park immediately. • Incessant barking shall be discouraged (please be mindful of neighbors). • Food and treats (human or dog) are prohibited from the dog park. • Glass containers are prohibited from the dog park. • Toys are prohibited from the dog park. • Smoking or “vaping” or any other use of tobacco or marijuana, whether in the form of chewing tobacco, snuff, cigars, or otherwise, in the park is prohibited. • Anyone who violates dog park rules may be suspended forthwith by the Director of Parks Recreation & Beaches or the Park Board itself the park board may permanently suspend anyone who disregards dog park rules. • Owners shall adhere to the City of New Bedford rules and ordinances. • Dog bites or dangerous animals shall be reported to New Bedford Animal Control at 508-991-6366. • In an emergency, call 911. • To ensure a peaceful environment, please be respectful to all users of the dog park.
