    Wonderful as always!

This spot was very quiet and relaxing. My dog got some really great new "smells" and learned to go up a ramp.

Easy to book, host was communicative, clean, large, and great for our two big dogs. Quiet and peaceful place. Even had balls our dogs could play with.

  • Chelsea B., Aug 11, 2023

Yard was nice however there were wasps everywhere. The gate to the yard was broken and didn't lock. There are definite holes in the fence that my 25lb corgi could fit through so it's not secure for smaller dogs. More ideal yard for large breed dogs but be aware of the fence and wasps.

Host replied: Our neighbors apparently knocked down a wasp nest the day prior which is what caused the wasp issue. We have since sprayed and put up wasp traps to handle the issue. As far as the latch on the gate I’m not sure when that happened because it was working the week prior. It looks as though somebody bent the part that Latches in, which has also been addressed.

    Great & quiet visit!

We had so much fun! The place was very well maintained and the covered seating was great with the heat. Our dog loved running, sniffing, climbing, and she even learned to go down the slide!

  • Lisa W., May 21, 2023

Easy to access and a big yard for running, with a smaller woody patch in the back for some good sniffs! Super clean and tidy, pup had a great time!

  • Chad L., May 14, 2023

Environment was clean, fenced yard, toys to play with. Kyle really enjoyed it.

My two dogs and I had a blast. Plenty of room to run, bushes and trees to explore. Super clean and with a nice covered patio to sit under. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

A world-class Pacific Northwest natural rainforest adventure awaits you and your best friends on 65-year-old trails, through 2 acres of trails, forest, and open areas for ball throwing. 8 or 9 terraces. Starting with your choice of 2 entrance paths on the far right and left over a bluff that winds around, to The Landing Pad, through other trails forming circles to run around on and play. At the very bottom, the trails lead to a creek, on the left. The property is partially fenced and has natural obstacles. It is bounded by a fence at the top, a fence on one L-shaped side, and a cliff to the creek on the other. The steep hill above the creek and dense brush provide a natural boundary, except for the most adventuresome dogs and their physically fit friends. Bring more than one dog, if possible, because they love to chase each other around the circles. This forest was clear-cut between 65 to 100 years ago and not replanted. So we replanted it with 600+ trees. The ground is wood chips, sand, and Pacific Northwest duff with 160ft tall Hemlock, Douglas Fir, Alder, Big Leaf Maple trees, ferns, and native bushes with views of a 20-acre privately owned forested wetland. We prepared it as a Sniffspot for dogs. The lower part that connects to the creek area is not fenced. Rarely seen are animals in the forest, occasional wild rabbits, moles, squirrels, mountain beavers, mice, raccoons, shrews, voles, and weasels. Many birds may be seen such as starlings, chickadees, woodpeckers, hawks, and American Bald Eagles. There are moles thus mole holes because it is a delightfully rugged private area so you must be careful where you step until you get used to the signs of moles and Mountain beaver underground trails crossing the paths. Especially along Secret Lane, Lover's Lane, and Hidden Lane. We spent 4+ years removing invasive bushes, cutting down dead trees, and creating places for you to pause, sit, and enjoy your dogs in this natural rainforest 1 mile from the South Sound. When you park you can close the entry gate at the top. Garbage is available on the way out under the Bigleaf Maple tree at the driveway in the large green bin marked "Garbage". The Southeast corner of this Sniffspot where the creek is down a steep embankment, also is part of the property, but descending the steep area is not advisable unless you are fit and feel capable of the climb down and up. We feel a lot of delight here. We welcome you to enjoy it! We continue to work with Mayor Jim Ferrell and his Code Compliance team on the problem regarding the trash strewn on the owner/developer's land comprising most of Lakota Creek Basin. The landowner has set the clean-up start date the week of February 19, 2024. 9The developer has a land plat proposal and variance before the city, so cleaning shows good intent even if it took 8 years.) Hope you can visit and enjoy it soon! 2 Starbucks less than 5 minutes away in either direction (bathrooms available there). If your dog is reactive and you want to, you may wish keep your pup leashed until you are safely at the top of the path. When departing, on either side of the trails, at the top you can pause to leash your dog if you wish. The Sniffspot trails do not interact with the house area.

New: disinfecting wipes and spray to protect your dogs' health amidst news of a contagious illness. Each visitor can disinfect and refill the provided water bowl or bring their own. Beautiful fenced tall-grass pasture with some woods at the lower end. 1.5 acres. If desired, you can drive right into the pasture and secure the gate behind you before letting your dog(s) loose. There is a mix of tall grass, shorter grass, and the lower "riparian"/woodsy area (mostly alder trees), which has a seasonal creek that runs in winter and is dry in summer. Your dog may find the scent of deer where they've bedded down at night, though it's unlikely that any will be present for your visit. You will see that I've planted and protected some fruit trees and native plants here and there. A sheltered area allows you to sit in the shade or out of the rain, and that's where you'll also find most amenities, such as toys and water. There are two driveways onto the property. You want the north one with the sign "Ericksen." After driving up that driveway, you'll see a "sniffspot" sign on the gate into the pasture. Please do not enter the farmhouse yard. The residents of the farmhouse are not the sniffspot hosts. For any questions, issues, or suggestions about how I can improve this spot, please drop me a message or call me, Annika, at 253-346-5863. New: accepting donations for COMPOST, like leaves, lawn clippings, pumpkins, newspaper, fruit/veg peels, coffee grounds, annual plants including tomatoes, used potting soil, tree trimmings, etc. You'll see the compost receptacle as you come up the driveway.
