This is not a reactive-dog or in-training friendly sniffspot. There are two large, untrained reactive dogs on the other side of the chicken-wire fencing which the host declined to note on the ad. These dogs spent most of the hour we were there eager to gence fight with my dogs.. they didn't settle down until about 10 minutes before we were leaving. My dogs are service dogs in training and I was able to manage them but it was not a pleasant experience and we didn't get to enjoy any of our planned program as a result. If your dog struggles with reactivity or dog-aggression, or if you're simply looking for a quiet spot where you can enjoy some quality time with your pup building your relationship, this is not a good fit. If you're in advanced obedience with exceptional offleash skills, and your dog is totally neutral to other highly-aroused dogs (you do a lot of focus work outside of dog parks) this could be a good spot but it's not large enough to get any distance from the distraction (maybe 30 ft away) of the neighbor dogs trying to fence fight with yours - something to keep in mind.
Host replied: Thank you for your input. Duly noted, and I did update the listing with that information. Have a great day. -Derek Frank
The gate was left unlocked and we just pushed the fence open to get in.
Chance had a lot of fun. The yard was large enough for him to run at full speed and had great spots to explore. Chance says the sticks were plentiful and sturdy haha. Derek’s yard is one of the largest and closest sniff spots to downtown Raleigh which is great if you can’t drive very far. We will be back!
