Description

I have a large fenced in yard. It is chain link and 6ft tall. It is reinforced at the bottom. There is a woodsy area in the yard for dogs to explore as well. Lots of room to run! You may notice your dog spends most of his/her time sniffing around instead of running. This is typical for the first visit: 1. It is a new space for them and they get a lot of information through their nose 2. Lots of dogs have been in my yard so there is so much to smell. This is still great enrichment and will lead to a tired and fulfilled dog. Please bring your own dog toys, water, and water bowl. If your dog poops (even if in the woods), can you please pick it up? I have a dog that likes to eat poop - so gross! You may notice that sometimes my deck is gated off. I do this so that the visiting dogs aren't distracted by the sliding door, standing in front of it thinking they are there to come into the house instead of playing in the yard. You are more than welcome to take one of them down if you want to sit up on the deck. If I forget to put the gate up and you want to block your dog from coming up on the deck, feel free to put it on the stairs to block the entryway. Other things worth mentioning: - Depending on the weather and time of the year, parts of the yard may be icy and/or muddy! Brings towels to wipe down your dog afterwards. If you visit early spring, you may see ground bees flying around on the south facing side of the house. By late April, you won't even know they are there. They are very docile (in fact most species don't have stingers) and are great pollinators. - I also dog sit out of my home. Some dogs that I watch are vocal and may bark the whole time you are visiting. If your booking time is during a time that I am home, I can ensure that they are kept quiet and don’t interfere with your visit. If hearing barking coming from my house is something that will impact your visit, feel free to reach out to me beforehand to confirm whether or not I am dog sitting and/or will be home. If there is anything I can do to make this a more enjoyable experience, please message me with feedback :) Hope you have a great time! Nice and big open area!

  • Leena C., Mar 12, 2023

Clean and spacious. A bit muddy but to be expected with the snow melting. Nice that there is a bit of woods to explore. Our puppy Picco had a great time!

I’ve been looking for a fenced area nearby to let my 6 month old pup run around and burn off some energy. He loved this spot! Lots to sniff and a lot of space to run around. We didn’t use the full hour but we still stayed for a good 35-40 mins which was plenty. Will likely be returning when there’s less snow on the ground!

My dog left very happy and tired!

  • Kari S., Mar 8, 2023

Great spot with lots of smells for my dog!

  • Savannah G., Mar 6, 2023

Lots of space for pups to run free in. Fence is secured and tall. Not a busy street so very little distraction. Very good spot for reactive dogs

    Great boredom buster!

  • Nina C., Feb 14, 2023

Very large space, some open yard, some woods. The fence is high enough that my little escape artists couldn't jump it.! They thoroughly enjoyed their visit!

  • Jess C., Feb 12, 2023

We love this spot!!! So much space to run and so many things to sniff, especially with the wooded area. The pups had a great time! FYI Part of the fence lines the road, so just be aware that dogs can see neighbors and cars go by.

Ralphie and Brady had so much fun. They loved exploring the woods. The yard is so spacious . I didn’t hear any dogs barking the whole time we were there . It was really quiet and peaceful . The yard was fully fenced. I didn’t see any dog poop the yard is well kept. Nicole is really nice and let us in early too. Highly recommend.

Meet your host

I am social worker at a therapeutic elementary school. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my dog and my two hospice foster dogs. I also dog sit as a hobby. I previously owned a reactive dog and understand the importance for dogs like this to have a safe place to run and burn off some energy.

WINTER USE OF THE SPOT: We would like to keep the spot open as much as possible in the winter. Here are some guidelines for its use during the snow season. The City of Marlborough does not permit on street parking in the winter. This means you will need to park in our driveway. We make every attempt to plow, sand and salt it for safety but cannot always guarantee conditions. If we cannot get this done or do not feel it is safe for guests, we will close the spot during a storm or post storm for cleanup. We will assess this each morning and from time to time cancellations may occur. We do not use dog safe salt in the driveway, so please use a foot covering for your dog as you would in any public area if your dog is sensitive. In the spot no chemicals are used. The yard will have snow and we generally do not plow pathways unless the snow gets a foot or more deep.

The Summit Spot in Amesbury (support a local dog rescue!)

** A portion from every booking goes to a local New England dog rescue!! Come and burn some energy in a fully fenced in yard located in Amesbury, conveniently off I495 and Route 150. Quiet neighborhood, other than the current construction going on at Baileys Pond and the humming (or occasional harley) sound from I495. This is not your landscapers dream yard!! Its where dogs play, dig holes, chew on sticks, destroy toys, chase bunnies and squirrels and full on wrestle with each other- so have fun and don’t twist an ankle! There are dogs on ALL sides of us but not likely any will be visible at our fence during your visit- but you may see or hear them barking. On the wood fence side is "Zane" our neighbors lab who is a talker. Feel free to use chairs and table if they are out. (Weather permitting). If you prefer to use a bag to pick up poop- there are some in the treat bin on the right as you enter through the gate. There is a scooper on the other side of the yard at the opposite gate, please toss bagged or scooped waste in the small blue lined trash bin. **Weather permitting** the water fountain feature will be on for your pups drinking pleasure (unless you request we put it off). If its rained recently there may be areas in the yard with mud, particularly around the entry gate/shed, so heads up. Winter weather may change things on a dime, so I’ll do my best to communicate to ensure safety. We are open Monday - Thursday 8:30AM to 4:30PM. Please follow booking policies requiring up to 2 hours for cancelling or rescheduling). I hope you and your pups enjoy your visit and burn some energy at The Summit Spot!

Country Setting & Nature Refresh - So Close to Town!

Fenced and secluded area for off-leash fun plus woods and trails and stream to explore! Parking by goat/duck pen at top of driveway or directly beside fenced area. (Goat pen has electric fencing around rear and sides and ducks may roam free a bit, so please no off-leash pups!) We are on 22 acres and outside of the fenced area there also is a trail and stream with easy access for dog wading. You are welcome to explore the trails with on-leash dogs - rough map of trails inside storage shed by the fenced area. Wildlife we have seen on walks includes: owls, deer, beaver, and even a family of otters. Please note that the fencing is farm wire with privacy screening in front of it. There are wood boards around the bottom of the entire pen to add safety and stability. Please message me if you have any questions or are uncertain if this area is a good fit for you and your pup. We want everyone safe and happy! The pen is a SIMPLE, wide-open, fenced area where your pup can play off-leash without other dogs or people around. Toys are provided in the storage shed by fenced area. If you bring your own toys or balls, PLEASE TAKE THEM HOME WITH YOU AND DO NOT LEAVE ANYTHING BEHIND IN THE FENCED AREA. WEATHER NOTE: this is not a grassy yard at the best of times. When snow has been melting or it has been rainy, you can expect plenty of mud and puddles. The fenced area can have varying degrees of mud while the trails will be quite muddy throughout the spring. If mud offends you (or your dog! 🤣), we aren’t a good spot for you during spring melting or extended rains. A note about restroom facilities: none available but … spot is very secluded. 😁😁😁 TP and trash bags provided. If you use the emergency, natural facilities please place TP in bag and then place bag in poop bucket. What happens in the woods stays in the woods …. Please place used toys and/or towels in the laundry basket outside the storage shed/container. Do not place back with clean items! Thank you. Last but not least, there is NO SMOKING anywhere on our property. Cameras in use throughout property. Thank you!
