55Amazing property, TONS for Winky to sniff.
55Super sweet host! Beautiful property with lots to smell and explore! It is an equine facility so there were some horse droppings on the trails. My dog was pooped after a half hour of sniffing and walking the trails. Like most places this year, quite a few ticks! Will be back again I’m sure!
55The dogs had a blast! The trails were marked, there was a stream for the dogs to swim. One thing to note if you have a dog that likes to eat poop, there is horse manure along the trails so just keep an eye on that.

55Finding spots with trails keeps things interesting for both pups and their people, and this one delivers! Access is through a latched cattle gate (latch on the left). The trails are well marked, though a few flags have faded — plan for about 1.5 hours if you’d like to explore them all at a relaxed pace and really wear out your pups. The provided map helps mostly to decode the flag colors. There are horses on-site (so be mindful if your pup loves to roll in or snack on manure), but they’re far enough away not to be distracting. When we visited, there was a live fence, but the host kindly gave us a heads-up so we could steer clear. I only wish it were a bit closer — it’s about an hour to hour 15 depending on traffic or time of day from NE DC — because I’d definitely visit more often.
55Perfect spot to practice your dog’s recall and trail etiquette. And, of course, just let them be a dog! There are numerous, clearly marked trails. I only wish we had booked a longer time slot—next time!

“We now have horses! They are contained in the southeast field and there is no need for guests to interact with them. There is plenty of other field space for playing or accessing the trails. Guests are welcome to say hello to the horses from outside their fence but PLEASE do not feed anything to the horses and do not allow your dogs to harass them with excessive barking or aggressive behavior.”

“As long as you are on time and stay in the designated areas, you shouldn’t have to interact with anyone except on your first visit, the host would appreciate meeting you at the side porch. You can choose to meet with or without your dog. If you would rather not, please let the host know ahead of time. There may be people in the horse field on rare occasions but they know not to interact with you unless you interact first.”
